Objective To evaluate the relationship between fragile histidine triad(FHIT) transcription abnormalities and HPV16 infection and human cervical tumorigenesis.Methods Total RNA from 5 cervical carcinoma cell lines(SiHa,HeLa,RJC-1,CS1213 and C4-1),58 primary cervical cancer specimens and 18 normal cervical epithelial tissues were extracted and FHIT transcripts were characterized by a two-step(nested) reverse transcription(RT)-PCR.The seven of the PCR products with different size were purified and sequenced.HPV16 infection was assessed by PCR.Results ① There were altered FHIT transcripts in SiHa,HeLa and C4-1 cells.Aberrant FHIT transcripts were detected in 39 out of the 58 cervical cancer samples(67.2%),but none out of 18 in the normal cervix tissue specimens(0%);HPV16 infections were identified in 37 of the 58 cervical cancer tissues(63.8%),but 1 in the 18 normal cervical epithelial tissues(5%),which showed a significant difference between these two groups(P0.05).③ The exon 5 and exon 6 were mainly deleted in the altered FHIT transcripts and no insertion and point mutation were found by DNA sequencing.Conclusion Aberrant FHIT expression was significantly common in cervical cancers and was correlated with HPV16 infection.These findings suggest that the tumor suppressor gene FHIT and high risk HPV16 may play a very important role in human cervical carcinogenesis.

[Objective] To observe the reversal action of acupuncture on experimental rats with insulin resistance. [Methods] Twenty-four rats were randomized into normal group, control group and treatment group. Each group had 8 rats. Rat models with insulin resistance were induced by feeding of high-carbonhydrate forage. Fasting blood-glucose (FBG) and plasma insulin (PI) levels and insulin sensitivity index ( ISI) were examined after acupuncture of Neiguan ( PC6 ) , Zusanli ( ST36) , Sanyinjiao (SP6) and Shenshu (BL23). Objective To evaluate the possibility of interventional therapy for avascular necrosis of the femeral head, with different curing methods, way of introduction and cultural heritages. Methods Vasodilator, thrombolytics and promoting microcirculatory drug were directly injected into the feeding arteries of the avascular necrotic femoral heads, under the condition of applying the blood stoppage belt at the root of thigh with pressure before the drug injection into the femoral pronator and extension arteries. The treatment was repeated 45 d later. Urokinase 10 5 unite/d ?10 were administrated with venous infusion ipsilaterally on the 15th day after the beginning of the therapy. Imaging features and clinical symptoms were recorded and correlatively studied before and after the treament. Results Symptoms relief especially the pain reached 100% after the treatment with various degrees of bony repair and new bone formation. Furthermore, increase caliber of feeding small arteries for femoral head and multiplicity of microvasculature, shortening of opacification time were revealed by DSA. IV stage bony change showed mild or inconspicuous. Conclusions Interventional catheterization treatment for avascular femoral head necrosis, especially the patients of fore Ⅲ stage, is safe and effective.

Objective To explore the clinical manifestation and laboratory examination of chronic diarrhea in children with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(AIDS) and analyze the reasons that causes the chronic diarrhea in children.Methods Clinical data of 7 patients (male 4 cases,famale 3 cases)with AIDS with manifestation of chronic diarrhea among the 17 cases were diagnosed as AIDS in Beijing children′s hospital from Jan.1999 to Dec.2006.The time of diarrhea,degree of dinrrhea,characteristic of stool,accompaniment symptom,laboratory examination were retrospectively analyzed.Results The average onset age was 6 years old(from 2-9 years old).The average time of diarrhea was 6 months(from 1-16 months).Four cases main complained with chronic diarrhea,3 cases came to the hospital because of fever,cough and wasting;6 cases with diarrhea,7 cases with malnutrition and anemia,5 cases accompanied hypokalemia and metabolic acidosis,6 cases had delay in growth and development,2 cases with abnormal stool routine exam,1 case with positive stool culture of fungi.All patients were with lower CD4,5 cases with lower CD4/CD8.Conclusions Chronic diarrhea is a common symptom in children with AIDS,and usually accompanied by obvious delay in growth and development,malnutrition and anemia,the reasons that causes the chronic diarrhea are consi-dered to be related with both the opportunistic infection and HIV infection.

Dioscin, a typical saponin, is widely present in the family of Dioscoreaceae, Liliaceae, Caryophyllaceae and Rosaceae, especially in Dioscoreaceae, including Discorea nipponica Makino, Dioscorea zingiberensis C. H. Wright and Dioscorea panthaica Prain et Burkill. Traditional Chinese medicine reported that dioscin plays a role in expectorant, relaxing the muscles and stimulating the blood circulation, aiding digestion and diuresis. With the development of science and technology in recent years, some new extraction and separation techniques and methods have been applied to the study of dioscin, and more and more pharmacological effects were found. Modern pharmacology studies have confirmed that dioscin had some activities on desensitization, anti-inflammatory, lipid-lowering, anti-tumor, hepatoprotection and anti-viral. After oral administration, dioscin is metabolized to diosgenin, which is the true active ingredient and is an important raw material to synthesize steroid hormone drugs. Therefore, the studies on dioscin are valueable and promising. In this review, we make a summary on the researches of dioscin including the extraction technology, separation and prepara- tion, chemical synthesis, drug metabolism, determination and pharmacological researches.

Objective To investigate the relationship between serum uric acid level and body fat depots as well as the possible influencing factors of the relationship in type 2 diabetic patients.Methods Five hundred and thirty two patients hospitalized for type 2 diabetes were recruited in this study.According to serum uric acid,the subjects were classified into normal uric acid group (group NUA,n =426) and high uric acid group ( group HUA,n =106 ).Anthropometry ( BMI,waist circumference,hip circumference and WHR),serum uric acid level,blood glucose,renal function and lipid levels were compared between the two groups.Results Serum uric acid level was closely related to body fat distribution:(1) in group HUA,WHR,BMI,BUN,SCr and TG were significantly higher than that of group NUA ( [ 0.94 ± 0.07 ] vs.[ 0.91 ± 0.07 ],[ 26.91 ± 3.90 ]kg/m2 vs.[23.84 ±3.80] kg/m2,[8.66 ±5.94] mmol/L vs.[6.29 ±3.64] mmol/L,[93.9 ± 67.6 ] μmol/Lvs.[63.9 ± 20.6 ] μmol/L,[ 2.65 ± 1.92 ] mmol/L vs.[ 1.86 ± 1.46 ] mmol/L,respectively; all P ＜ 0.05 ] ;while HDL-C was lower in Group HUA than in group NUA ( [ 1.09 ± 0.32 ] mmol/L vs.[ 1.24 ± 0.45 ] mmol/L,P ＜0.05).(2) Multiple regression analysis revealed that the serum uric acid levels were positively correlated with BMI,SCr,and TG ( b =0.201,0.500,0.153,respectively,P ＜ 0.05 ),but negatively correlated with HbA(1)c and HDL-C ( b =- 0.168 and - 0.121,P ＜ 0.05 ).Conclusion In patients with type 2 diabetes,serum uric acid levels are closely related with the BMI and Glucose/lipid metabolism,which suggests that body weight control is as important as the uric acid lowering treatment in patients with type 2 diabetes to cut the risks of cardiac and vascular diseases.
