Objective: To investigate impaired cognitive functions in post-JE pa tients. Methods:32 post-JE patients and 44 non-disabled su bjects were compared on various intelligence and memory measures. Results:25% and 34% post-JE patie nts showed significant cognitive impairments in intellectual and memory function s. Significant differences were found between groups on measures of FIQ,VIQ, PI Q and MQ. Conclusion: Impairment in cognitive functions wa s found to be a frequent sequelae of acute JE, which has often been overlooked.

BACKGROUND:Platelet-derived growth factor has the ability of wound repair, and relevant studies mainly focus on bone tissue repair. However, there are less studies about the effect of platelet-derived growth factors in skin wound healing. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the role of platelet-derived growth factor to promote wound healing by the regulation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels to the wound. METHODS:Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels from rats were cultured. Immunofluorescence method was conducted to detect cel surface markers of CD34 and CD44 in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels. Thirty healthy male SD rats were divided into five groups at random. Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels labeled with PKH-26 were injected into the rat caudal vein in each group. The rats were anesthetized 1 week after injection. On the center of rat back, a 3-cm incision was made to establish a wound healing model. Different concentrations of platelet-derived growth factor were injectedvia multi-points on the skin wound after modeling, and the control group was treated with the same volume of normal saline. Skin wound tissues were taken for relevant parameter measurement at 14 days after injection. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Under the fluorescence microscope, platelet-derived growth factor could induce the migration and accumulation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cels to the trauma in a dose-dependent manner and promote the wound healing. Masson staining showed that, with the concentration increase, platelet-derived growth factors could reduce inflammatory cel infiltration and increase the number of colagen fibers. Results from western blot assay showed that platelet-derived growth factor could inhibit the expression of matrix metaloproteinase-1, promote the expression of tissue inhibitor of matrix metaloproteinase 1 in the wound, and inhibit the colagen degradation, thereby promoting skin wound healing indirectly.

Journal of Practical Radiology 2001;17(4):269-270
Objective To establish the vascular morphology of the lymphoma of small intestine for interventional radiology and HCT diagnosis. Methods 8 cases of small intestinal autopsy specimens of normal adults, 6 cases of lymphoma specimen of bowel comfirmed by pathology were studied by angiography, pathological diagnosis and quantitative analysis with CMIAS 007 system. Results The lymphoma of bowel was poor in vascularity (P < 0.05) There were significannt difference in the blood vessels such as disorder, tortuous, interruption sign, contrast medium puddle and dyeing of mensentery compared with normal . Conclusion The study on vascular morphology of lymphoma is help for interventional radology and HCT diagnosis.

Objective To observe the effects of mild hypothermia hemofiltration on cerebral blood flow (CBF) and intracranial pressures (ICP) in patients with severe brain injury. Methods 65 patients with severe brain injuries were divided into control group (n=30) and observation group (n=35). The control group accepted the routine treatment only while the observation group accepted mild hypothermia hemofiltration additionally. CBF was detected by Transcranial Doppler (TCD) and ICP was monitored by ICP monitor. Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) was assessed every day. Results 5 d after treatment, the scores of GCS were higher in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05) as well as the CBF (P<0.05), but the ICP was in the observation group significantly lower than in the control group (P<0.01). Conclusion Compared with the traditional mild hypothermia, mild hypothermia hemofiltration can improve hemodynamic changes caused by severe brain injury, reduce ICP and improve the outcomes.

ObjectiveTo compare the outcomes of total hip replacement (THR) and minimally invasive dynamic hip screw (MIDHS) in treating osteoporotic femoral intertrochanteric fractures so as to discuss the differences of the two treatment methods. Methods A retrospective study was done on 48 elderly patients with femoral intertrochanteric fractures. All the patients were randomly treated with THR (THR group) and MIDHS internal fixation ( MIDHS group). After a follow-up of over six months, the two groups were compared concerning the operation time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative drainage, postoperative hip function, and postoperative complications.ResultsTHR group had longer operation time, larger volume of intraoperative bleeding and postoperative drainage as compared with the MIDHS group. The incidence of internal fixation loosening varied significantly with different degree of osteoporosis in the MIDHS group, but not in the THR group. The loosening rate of the implants in the MIDHS and THR groups was 33.3% and 4.1% respectively, with significant difference.Functional evaluation of hip showed no significant differences between the two groups six months postoperatively.ConclusionFor achieving earlier and better functional recovery and less postoperative complications in the management of osteoporotic femoral intertrochanteric fractures,MIDHS can be considerel for the elderly patients with low degree of osteoporosis and THR for younger patients with high degree of osteoporosis.

Objective Measuring job satisfaction level of community health workers, providing on the evidences for the design of the relevant policy and the evaluation of job effect. Methods 57 Community Health Service centers and 54 stations were randomly selected in 12 cities in Anhui province, and all staff on the job were investigated. The questionnaires were delivered to the working staff and anonymously filled in by them. Results The total job satisfaction average score of the staff is 110.84± 18.18.The average score of pay(10.05±2.99),welfare(10.35±3.17)and promotion(10.85±3.00)are rather low.The average score of coworkers(14.78±2.11),nature of work(14.60±2.69)and supervision (13.90±3.00)are quite high.Logistic regression analysis shows the staff's duration and title are the main factors affecting their overall job satisfaction. Conclusion The overall job satisfaction level of community health workers is not high.Establishing the reasonable system of pay, welfare mechanism and the predictable promotion space are feasible choices to promote job satisfaction of community health workers

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of intravenously use of ambroxol in treatment of mechanical ventilator patients. Methods Meta-analysis was used. The Cochrane Library,PubMed,Elsevier (ScienceDirect),OVID series medical databases and domestic main databases were searched, the quality of included studies was evaluated by certain standards. The Review Manager 5.0 software was used for analysis. Results 14 studies were included,1 184 mechanical ventilation patients were involved. The Meta-analysis showed that there were significant differences between two groups in blood gas analysis, airway resistance and pressure and lung compliance. However, there were no differences between two groups in expectorant effect and VAP incidence. Conclusions Intravenously use of ambroxol in treatment of mechanical ventilator patients was effective.A large multi-center sample of high-quality clinical studies is needed to confirm the results.
