Relevant literatures on the relationship betw een fluorosis and oxidative stress were reviewed.Based on most of the original papers published in recent years,we can see the increased free radicals and oxidative stress may occur in certain stage of fluoride intoxication,but confirmation of the causality between oxidative stress and fluoride-induced damages still remains much work to do.

AIM: To compare the clinical efficacy and safety of phacoemulsification and small incision non -phacoemulsification cataract surgery, and provide better options for clinical cataract treatment.
METHODS: According to the different operation methods, 98 cases of simple senile cataract patients in our hospital were divided into control group and treatment group, 49 cases in each. The control group received ultrasonic emulsification operation treatment; treatment group were treated by small incision non -phacoemulsification. Visual acuity, astigmatism values, average operation time, and complications were compared between two groups before and after operation.
RESULTS: There was no significant difference in preoperative corneal astigmatism values of two groups at 3mo between two groups (P>0. 05). On other times, vision and corneal astigmatism were obviously better than those before operation (P<0. 05). The average vision, corneal astigmatism values and complications incidence of two group at operation time and different postoperative time had no statistical difference (P>0. 05). When the lens nucleus hardness was at Ⅰ~Ⅲ level, corneal endothelial cell count of two groups had no significant difference ( P>0.05). When the lens nucleus hardness was at Ⅳ ~ Ⅴlevel, there was statistical difference (P<0. 05).
CONCLUSION: Small incision non-phacoemulsification cataract surgery has the similarly efficacy compared with phacoemulsification. It should be based on the actual situation of the hardness of nuclear to select the appropriate surgical treatment.

Objective an experimental animal model of acute myoc ardial infarction (ANI) was established by opening chest and ligation of the left anterior descending (LAD) coronary artery． Methods a total of 20 rabbits were opened chest and ligated LAD under sterilization． Electrocardiogram (ECG) and myocardial-enzymes in blood serum were investigated． Results ECG of all rabbi t s showed normal before operation． Irmediately after and 1/2 hour after ligation , ST-segment elevated and ECG showed ambulatory changes for 7 and 9 rabbits respectively． Two hours after LAD ligation, the change of ECG for 2 rabbits wa s not typical and 2 of them died during experiment． Four weeks after operation, E CG of 18 rabbits showed the chest leads had pathologic Q waves． Twenty-four ho urs after LAD ligation, AST, LDH, LDH-1, CK and CK-MB in blood serum were significantly increased． There was significant difference compared with before operation (except LDH) (P<0. 0l)． Conclusions:The method was sim ple and well repeated． The formation of myocardial infarction was reliable and rabbits were maintained for a long time after operation． It provides a valuable animal mode l for the experiment study of coronary heart disease．

Objective To study the variables of behavioral function and TUNEL (terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling) figure in Bcl-2 transgenic (TG) mice and control mice after spinal cord injury (SCI), thus to find new ideas and ways for diagnosing and treating SCI. Method The genesis of Bcl-2 overexpression transgenic (TG) mice were produced by injection of Bcl-2 plasmid into the fertilized ova of mice.Nine Bcl-2 TG mice and nine control mice were subjected to SCI of moderate severity at T10, with the use of weight dropping (WD) method (impact force 2.5～3.0 g·cm). Up to 1 day , 7 days, and 14 days after SCI,functional deficits were evaluated with BBB scales, and the apoptosis of neurons was investigated by using TUNEL method. Another three mice of control group were only treated with laminectomy without SCI for comparison. Results The mean functional scores in the control mice were lower than those in the Bcl-2 TG mice, although the unpaired T -test revealed no significant differences. On the other hand, the number of TUNEL positive neurons and IOD(Integrated Optical Density)score in the Bcl-2 TG mice were both significantly lower than those in the control mice. Conclusions This experiment suggests that overexpression of Bcl-2 may suppress neuronal apoptosis after SCI. The Bcl-2 may be an important factor in relieving the damage within CNS after trauma.

Objective To observe endoplagmic reticulum stress in bone tissue of fluomsis rats and further explore the pathogenesis of skeletal fluorosis.Methods 48 Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups according to their body mass.The control and low.calcium group were fed with normal diet(0.79%calcium)and low-calcium diet(0.79%calcium)respectively,and both drank tap water(sodium fluoride concentrations＜1 mg/L).High fluoride and low.calcium plus high-fluoride groups were fed with normal diet(0.79%calcium)and low-calcium diet (0.79%calcium)respectively,and both drank tap water containing sodium fluoride(sodium fluoride concentrations 221 mg/L).During experimental period,rats were measured body mass once a week with a stand diet and water available ad libiturn.The experimental period was 3 months.The biochemical techniques were used to test the indicators of oxidative stress and ALP in seFum of fluorosis rats.The total RNA was extracted from the one side of the femur,and the transcription level of Bip,Xbp1,CHOP and PDI were investigated by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Results The level of MDA in serum of low-calcium plus high-fluoride group wag higher than that of the control[(14.74±3.11)μmol/L vs(10.15±1.96)μmol/L,P＜0.05];the activity of GPx was ma~edly higher in hish-fluoride group compared with the control[(3.87±0.41)×103 U/L vs(2.85± 0.55)×103 U/L,P＜0.05];the level of uric acid in sel'um was significantly lower both in high-fluoride group and low-calcium plus high-fluoride group compared with the respective control and the low-calcium group[(73.95± 9.52)μmol/L vs(110.43±25.48)μmol/L,(54.32±22.09)μmol/L vs(101.71±17.01)μmol/L,P＜0.05]. The activity of ALP wag obviously higher in low-calcium plus high-fluoride group compared with the control [(24.77±4.57)×103U/L vs (12.91±3.97)×103U/L,P＜0.01)].The mRNA expression of Bip/GAPDH in bone tissue was markedly higher in bone of high-fluoride group and low-calcium plus high-fluoride group compared with the control(1.38±0.24,1.35±0.12 vs 1.14±0.06,P ＜ 0.05). The expression of Xbp1/GAPDH in bone tissue significantly increased in low-calcium plus high-fluoride groups compared with the control and the low-calcium group (1.48±0.20 vs 1.02±0.25,1.07±0.25,P ＜ 0.05 or ＜ 0.01);and CHOP/GAPDH in bone tissue significantly increased in low-calcium plus high-fluoride groups compared with the control(0.84±0.18 vs 0.52±0.07,P ＜ 0.05 ). Conclusions Accelerated osteogenetic action is seen in fluorosis rats,accompanied by oxidative stress and bone endoplasmic reticulum stress,which is likely involved in the pathogenesis of skeletal fluorosis.

Objective To discuss the expression and mutation of β-catenin gene in breast carcinoma.Methods 119 breast carcinomas, 72 adenosis of breast tissues and 40 normal breast tissues were studied.Using immunohistochemistry studies to detect the expressions of β-catenin, then analyzing their relationship with the clinicopathological features of breast carcinomas. Gene mutation of β-catenin (exon 3) in 44 cases of breast carcinoma were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and then by direct sequencing.ResultsIn 40 cases of normal breast tissues, epithelial cells showed equally strong membranous of β-catenin protein at the cell-cell boundaries. The abnormal rate of β-catenin in breast carcinomas (78.15 %) was much higher than that of adenosis of breast tissues (44.44 %), the significant correlation was found (P＜0.01). The abnormal expression of β-catenin was associated with lymph node metastasis (P=0.031). Mutation of β-catenin gene was not detected in 44 cases of breast carcinoma, while the abnormal rate of β-catenin in 44 cases of breast carcinoma was 77.30 %. Conclusionβ-catenin abnormal expression could be considered as an useful marker for determining metastasis and prognosis of human breast carcinoma and for guiding treatment. β-catenin abnormal expression is not caused by β-catenin gene mutation, maybe by other mechanisms. It needs further study.

Objective To explore the incidence and pathologic feature of patients with thyroid carcinoma treated at the First Hospital of Jilin University. Methods From January 2000 to July 2010,clinicopathologic data of 1018 patients with thyroid carcinoma treated in the First Hospital of Jilin University were retrospectively analyzed. Results The cases of thyroid carcinoma between 2008 and 2010 were more than 73% higher than that in the preceding 8 years. Cancer cases from January 2009 to July 2010 were more1018 cases reviewed, 976 cases were clearly classified pathologically. Papillary thyroid carcinoma, follicular thyroid carcinoma, medullary thyroid carcinoma and anaplastic thyroid carcinoma were present in 897 (91.91%), 43(4. 41% ), 22(2. 25% ) and 6(0. 61% ) cases respectively. Of the 1018 cases reviewed,804 cases were recorded with or without lymphnode metastasis. The rate of lymphnode metastasis of male and female patient were 39. 24% and 28. 64% respectively and the difference was significant( χ2 = 6. 71 ,P ＜0. 05). The rate of lymphnode metastasis of age ＜45 years and age ≥45 years were 37.65% and 23. 26%respectively and the difference was significant ( χ2 = 19. 54, P ＜ 0. 05 ). Conclusions In the past ten and a half years, the number of the thyroid carcinoma patients treated in the First Hospital of Jilin University increased year by year. The increase of papillary thyroid carcinoma was the most obvious. Thyroid carcinoma was more common among females. The peak incidence age of males and females was 30 -59. The rate of lymphnode metastasis of males was larger than that of females. The rate of lymphnode metastasis of age ＜45years was larger than that of age≥45 years.

Objective:To investigate the antitumor efficiency of the special cytotoxic T lymphocytes(CTLs) activated by dendritic cells(DCs) pulsed with K-ras (12-Val) antigen.Methods:DCs was generated from PBMC in the presence of granuloceyte/macrophage-colony stimulating factor(GM-CSF),interleukin-4(IL-4)in vitro.DCs were differently sensitized with K-ras mutant pancreatic cancer cell line,K-ras(12-Val) mutant peptide,K-ras(12-Val) mutant peptide with the surface of cationic nanoparticle.Cell surface markers on DCs was measured by flow cytometry.The activation of CTL induced by DCs was detected by ~3H- thymidine incorporation test.The killing effects of CTL to pancreatic cancer was detected by ~(125)I-UdR release test. Production of IL-12 and IFN-γ by DCs and PBMC was detected by ELISA.Results:Compared with DCs pulsed with K-ras(12-Val) mutant peptide and K-ras (12-Val) mutant peptide with the surface of cationic nanoparticle,DCs pulsed with whole tumor antigen could better induce CTLs killing activity(P＜0.05).The DCs with K-ras(12-Val) mutant peptide and K-ras mutant peptide with the surface of cationic nanoparticle could produce specific CTL killing activity aganist pancreatic cancer cell line Patu8988(K-ras+)(P＜0.05),but not SW1990(K-ras-)(P＞0.05). K-ras (12-Val) mutant peptide with the surface of cationic nanoparticle at lower concentrations can be effectively presenting on the surface of DCs than only K-ras (12-Val) mutant peptide.Conclusion:K-ras (12-Val) mutant peptide with cationic carrier can be effectively presenting and expression of DCs and induce CTL specific killing activity aganist pancreatic cancer cell lines with K-ras (12-Val) mutant peptide.
