Objective:To investigate the effect and safety of sertraline tablets with oral administration in the diabetes patients com-plicated with depression. Methods:Totally 74 diabetes patients complicated with depression were randomly divided into 2 groups with 37 ones in each. All the patients were orally given dimethyldiguanide 500 mg,tid, and the observation group was given sertraline tablets additionally,50-100 mg,qd. The treatment course was 8 weeks. The changes of sugar metabolism and the scores of self-rating depres-sion scale( SDS)and quality of life scale( DMQLS)in the two groups were compared. Results:After the 8-week treatment, the blood sugar,SDS scores and DMQLS scores in the two groups were significantly improved when compared with those before the treatment( P<0. 05). The levels of FBG,2hPG and HbAlc and SDS scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the con-trol group(P<0. 05),while the scores of DMQLS disease, psychology, society and satisfaction dimension were significantly higher in the observation group(P<0. 05). The incidence of adverse reactions showed no statistically significant difference between the two groups(P>0. 05). Conclusion:Sertraline tablets can improve the depression of diabetes patients and enhance the blood sugar control and quality of life.

Objective To evaluate the relationship between transplantation of allogeneic peripheral blood stem cells (allo-PBSCs) and low incidence of leukemic relapse. Methods Thirty-seven adult patients with acute myeloid leukemia in first remission ( n =16) and chronic myeloid leukemia in chronic phase ( n =21) underwent allo-PBSCT from June 1997 to December 1999. A median number of CD34 + cells, CD3 + cells, CD4 + cells and CD8 + cells infused was 7.3 ?10 6/kg, 364?10 6/kg, 210?10 6/kg and 137?10 6/kg, respectively. Busulfan and cyclophosphamide were used as conditioning regimen (BU-CY2). All patients received cyclosporine and methotrexate for GVHD prophylaxis. Results Engraftment of neutrophil and platelet was achieved at a median of day +13(9~28) and day +12(7~19) respectively. Acute GVHD (aGVHD) occurred in 18 of 37 patients ( 48.6% ) with grade II~IV aGVHD ( 24.3% ). Chronic GVHD (cGVHD) developed in 22 (extensive 8, limited 14) out of 32 evaluable patients ( 68.8% ). 28 patients were still alive in complete remission at a median follow-up of 950 days (range 600~ 1 500 days). The main causes of death were aGVHD in two patients, CMV-IP in four patients, cGVHD in two patients, and relapse only in one patient. The probability of disease free survival at 3 years was 75.7% . Conclusion In our series, leukemia recurrence was seen only in one patient ( 2.7% ), suggesting that a high incidence of cGVHD may have an enhanced graft-versus-leukemia effect and hence reduce the incidence of relapse after transplantation.

Objective To systematically assess the detection of K-ras gene mutation at codon 12 in pancreatic juice for diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Methods A comprehensive electronic searching was performed to retrieve relevant studies on K-ras gene mutation in pancreatic juice for diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.Data on accuracy of included studies were extracted,Meta-DiSc1.4,Stata10.0,was applied for further heterogeneity exploring,meta-analysis and publication bias testing. Results Fifteen studies met the inclusion criteria.Heterogeneity was not found among these studies, including threshold effect, different test methods, randomization and blind.Pooled accuracy indicators like sensitivity, specificity and diagnostic odds ratio(DOR) were 0.61(95%CI 0.56-0.66),0.82(95%CI 0.77-0.86) and 6.28(95%CI 4.42-8.91),respectively.Area under curve(AUC) of SROC(summary receiver operating characteristics) was 0.8207 and Q index was 0.7542.Publication bias had little influence on meta-analysis with the fail-safe number of 694.0108.Conclusions This meta-analysis demonstrates that the detection of K-ras gene mutation in pancreatic juice has moderate effect for diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. It is not enough to be an early diagnosing or screening indicator for pancreatic cancer, but it can be used clinically as an important adjunct to cytology, imageology and enzymology in the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

Acta Anatomica Sinica 1957;0(04):-
During 14-17th days, the duodenum of the rat fetus was composed of stratified epithelium and peripheral mesenchyme. On 18th day, the mesenchyme began to protrude toward the basal aspect of the epithelium, resulted in the formation of primary villi. At the sametime, goblet cells and the primordia of intestinal glands appeared. The number of goblet cells, which located at the surface of the villi, increased gradually with the fetus age, whereas after birth the goblet cells decreased with the development and maturation of intestinal glands. From 19th day till 3-4 weeks after birth, the shape of villi changed continuously, and attained to the adult shape in 4th week.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2012;30(4):326-330
BackgroundHypoxia and hyperglycemia are the common causes of retinal neovascularization. In these states,H+ accumulates because of the elevated glycolysis and failure of retinal circulation, thus the retinas readily acidified. ObjectiveThe present study was to explore whether retinal acidosis independently regulates the production of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) and whether the regulation is related to oxidative stress. Methods The retinas from 2-week-old male SD rats were cultured with explant method in DMEM modulated by NaHCO3,and culture retinas were randomly divided into pH 7.2,6.8 and 6.5 groups for 24 hours. In addition, after 24 hours of culture as above described, retinas were washed using PBS two times and then followed by again culture in DMEM with pH 7.2 for another 24 hours. Also, antioxidant was added in different pH values of DMEM for culture as above described. The retinal samples were prepared for histopathological examination. The expressions of VEGF and PEDF proteins and their mRNA in retina tissue were detected by Western blot and fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) respectively. Results The retina showed the clear structure and morphology in pH 7.2 group and pH 6.8 group, but retinal vacuoles change was seen in pH 6.5 group after culture for 24 hours. No significant difference was seen in the expressing level of VEGF mRNA in retina between normal group and pH 7.2 group( 112% ±11% vs 100% ±7% ) (P=0.55),but those in pH 6.8 group and pH 6.5 group were significant increased in comparison with pH 7.2 group( 196% ±43% vs 100% ±7% ;251% ±29%vs 100% ±7% )( P<0.05 ).The expressing level of PEDF mRNA in retina in normal group was similar to that of pH7.2 group(86% ±19% vs 100% ±33%) (P=0.64),but that in pH 6.5 group was significantly higher than pH 7.2 group( 230% ±66% vs 100% ±33% ) ( P<0.05 ).The resemble results were found in the expressions of VEGF and PEDF protein. After pH reversion, the expressing levels of VEGF mRNA were 100% ±13%,111% ±9%,113% ±9% in pH 7.2 group,pH 6.8 group and pH 6.5 group respectively without significant difference among them (F=2.51,P=0.16).The expressing levels of PEDF mRNA were 100% ±13%,110% ±9%,108% ±11%in different groups ( F =0.98,P =0.43 ).Under the presence of antioxidant, the expressing level of VEGF mRNA in pH 6.5 group increased in comparison with pH 7.2 group and pH 6.8 group ( P < 0.05 ).The expressing levels of PEDF mRNA were significant different among pH 7.2 group( 100±31 )%,pH 6.8 group( 282±45 )% and pH 6.5 group(480±117)% (F=20.73,P=0.00). Conclusions VEGF can be induced by retinal acidification alone, which may be regulated by oxidative stress.Under the retinal acidification, antioxidants promote the expression of PEDF,suggesting that oxidative stress inhibits the production of PEDF.
