Journal of Environment and Health 1993;0(01):-
Objective To determine whether an environmental intervention tailored to each patient's allergic sensitization and environmental risk factors could improve asthma-related outcomes. Methods Irritant or allergen sensitivity determined by the patient's exposure history and confirmed with skin test. Patients were asked to record 2-week days without symptoms, days off-work(or school) and ?2-agonist puffs. Pulmonary function was also examined. Ninety-six asthmatics with atopic asthma (aged 16-78 years) were randomly assigned to a control group, an intervention group that received an educational handout monthly for 2 months. Asthmatics of both groups inhalded budesonide at a daily dose 200-800 ?g and ?2-agonist as needed. Environmental intervention lasted six months and included education and remediation for exposure to allergens. The control group had no special recommendations. Results The intervention group had more days without symptoms compared with the control group (13.4 vs.10.1days, P

Microbiology 1992;0(04):-
The effects of solid-state fermentation (SSF) and submerged fermentation (SmF) and the addition of olive oil on the whole-cell lipase production by Rhizopus chinensis CCTCC M201021 were investigated.Compared with SSF, higher biomass, hydrolytic activity and synthetic activity were observed in SmF.By the addition of olive oil, the synthetic activity of whole-cell lipase in both fermentations was enhanced significantly, especially in SmF, while the biomass and the hydrolytic activity were also increased.Hence, olive oil serves as both carbon source and the inducer of lipases in fermentation. It was also found that the synthetic activity of whole-cell lipase was not accordant to the hydrolytic activity during both SmF and SSF, suggesting that isoenzymes with difference in lipase properties may be produced by Rhizopus chinensis.

Objective: To establish a RP-HPLC method for the determination of icariin in Bushenning Capsules. Methods: The sample was prepared by water extraction-purfication through polyamide column. The determination was carried out on C 18 ODS column with mobile phase of acetonirile-water (23∶77), and detection wavelength at 270nm according to the external standard method. Results: The icariin sample size showed a good linear relationship at the range of 0.12-1.91ug and correlation coefficient was 0.9999. The average recovery of the added sample was 99.21%(n=5) and RSD was 1.79%. The RSD in a duplicate test was 2.18%.Conclusion: The method is simple, accurate, reproducibe and can be used for content determination of icariin of icariin of Bushenning Capsules.

Objective To explore the changes of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels in the patients with coronary heart disease (CHD), and its clinical significance. Methods Nighty cases with CHD in our hospital from January 2015 to February 2016 were selected as study group, while 30 cases healthy persons underwent physical examination were selected as control group, and the study group were divided into stable angina pectoris ( SAP) group, acute myocardial infarction ( AMI) group and unstable angina pectoris ( UAP) group. The serum VEGF and hs-CRP levels were detected by ELISA.Results The serum VEGF and hs-CRP levels in study group were higher than those in control group (P<0.05).The serum VEGF and hs-CRP levels in AMI group were higher than those in SAP group and UAP group, the serum VEGF and hs-CRP levels in UAP group were higher than SAP group (P<0.05).There was positive correlation between serum level of VEGF and hs-CRP(r=0.626,P<0.05).The ROC showed a higher diagnostic value of VEGF and hs-CRP on CHD.Conclusion The serum levels of VEGF and hs-CRP has a higher diagnostic value and accuracy on CHD, which could evaluate the patient’s condition and predict the progress of cardiovascular events.

Objective To study the effects of L-NAME on invasion and metastasis of human colorectal (carcinoma) cell line(LS-174T) and explore its possible mechanism. Methods The LS-174T cells were co-incubated with L-NAME at various concertrations.Griess techniqe was used to examine the effect of(L-NAME) on excretion of nitric oxide(NO) of the cells. The effects of L-NAME on invasion and migration of LS-174T were evaluated using Transwell chambers attached with polycarbonate filters and reconstituted(basement) membrane.Expression of MMP2 mRNA and TIMP2mRNA in LS-174T cells was measured by(RT-PCR).Results(1)L-NAME decreased the excretion of NO of the cells in a dose-dependent manner.(2)The ability of the L-NAME treated LS-174T cells to invade the reconstituted basement membrane(increased) significantly with the concentration and time,at the concentration of 0.2 mmol/L,0.4 mmol/L,0.8mmol/L and 1.0mmol/L,respectively,after 72 hour, the inhibition rates were 10.29%,19.62%,34.08% and 42.23%,respetively.(P

Objective To examine the short-and middle-term efficacy and refracture rate in patients with thoracolumbar fracture having percutaneous kyphoplasty (PKP) and determine their correlation with the severity of osteoporosis. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 247 patients with thoracolumbar fracture undergone PKP from January 2008 to February 2014.Mean age of the patients (94 males and 153 females) was 63.2 years (range,50-81 years).Ground-level falls occurred in 119 patients, traffic injuries in 72 patients and high falls in 56 patients. The patients were assigned to osteopenia group and osteoporosis group based on the preoperative bone mineral density.Visual analogue score (VAS),Roland-Morris disability survey scale (RDQ),vertebral compression rate, kyphotic Cobb angle and refracture rate were recorded before and after operation.Efficacy in correlation with the severity of osteoporosis was evaluated. Results Mean duration of follow-up was 24.3 months (range,18-36 months).Three days after operation,VAS descended from (7.7 ± 2.1) points to (4.3 ± 1.1) points in osteopenia group and from (7.7 ± 2.0) points to (4.2 ± 1.5) points in osteoporosis group (P < 0.05);RDQ descended from (21.2 ± 1.5) points to (10.4 ± 2.5) points in osteopenia group and from (20.8 ± 1.9) points to (11.2 ± 1.7) points in osteoporosis group (P < 0.05);rate of vertebral body compression descended from (42.2 ± 10.5) % to (3.2 ± 0.5) % in osteopenia group and from (46.2 ± 12.7) % to (2.9 ± 0.8) % in osteoporosis group (P < 0.05);kyphotic Cobb angle descended from (21.2 ± 9.5) ° to (7.2 ±2.4) °in osteopenia group and from (23.1 ± 8.9) ° to (7.1 ± 2.6) ° in osteoporosis group (P < 0.05).Three years after operation, all the parameters remained better than these before operation, with the value higher in osteoporosis group than in osteopenia group (P < 0.05).Rate of refracture was higher in osteoporosis group after operation, compared to that in osteopenia group (P < 0.05).Conclusions The clinical short-term result is satisfactory, but refracture rate is increased with the osteoporosis aggravation.Targeting osteoporosis therapy is important to obtain a better mid-term results.

Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1989;0(05):-
AIM: To observe effects of shear stress and TNF-? on caveolin-1 expression. METHODS: Cultured human aortic endothelial cells (HAECs) of passage 3-5 were used in the experiment. Cells were exposed to a laminar flow (shear stress 1.0 Pa) by using a parallel rectangular flow chamber for different time. Caveolin-1 mRNA and protein expression were measured by RT-PCR and Western blot, respectively. Caveolin-1 expression of the cells stimulated by TNF-? were also studied to elucidate the influence of this inflammatory factor. RESULTS: After 24 h of exposure to 1.0 Pa shear stress, both of caveolin-1 protein and mRNA expression decreased in HAECs, especially caveolin-1 mRNA expression (P
