Objective To investigate the efficacy of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) antagonists therapy and the possible eauses of new onset or exacerbation of psoriatic skin lesion in patients with arthritides treated with TNF-α atagonists therapy. Methods One patient with definite psoriatie arthritis and one patient with definite ankylosing spondylitis, who were treated with TNF-α antagonist therapy developed an unexpected exacerbation or new onset of psoriatic skin lesion, were investigated in this study. Furthermore, the literatures associated with psoriasis induced by anti-TNF-α therapy were reviewed. Results The patient with psoriatic arthritis experienced exacerbation of psoriatic skin lesion and the skin lesions subsided after discontinuation ofetanereept therapy. The skin lesions recurred with re-introduction of etanereept, which improved after withd-rawal of etanercept therapy. The patient with ankylosing spondylitis unexpectedly developed psoriasis vulgaris after receiving etanercept therapy. The skin lesion waxed and waned followed the administration or discon-tinuation of etanercept therapy. The same settings were reported in patients with rheumatoid arthritis receiving different types of anti-TNF-α therapy. Conclusion Blockage of TNF-α is highly effective in arthritides. Ho-wever, some patients with arthritides can unexpectedly develop either a new onset or exacerbation of psoriatic skin lesions after initiation of TNF-α antagonist therapy. The skin lesions subside after discontinuation of the TNF-α antagonist therapy, but the causes remain unclear.

ObjectiveTo study the effect of TGF-? 1 signal transduction blocked by antisense-Smad 4 gene on progression of experimental liver fibrosis of Kunming mice.MethodsWe transfered retrovirus-mediated antisense Smad 4cDNA into the CCl4/ethanol induced cirrhotic liver of Kunming mouse model to investigate the antisense-Smad 4 gene integration by Southern blot. The expression of Smad 4 in cirrhotic liver was observed by Northern blot, RT-PCR, and Western blot. The fibrotic degree of the livers among the three groups were compared.ResultsThe antisense-Smad 4 gene was confirmed to integrate into the liver of the retrovirus-treated mouse .In the non-treated cirrhotic liver, the expression of Smad 4 mRNA was significantly increased than normal liver, the antisense Smad 4 gene could decrease the expression of Smad 4. Compared with the non-treated liver, the fibrotic septa of the liver in the retrovirus-treated mouse were fewer, narrow, and incomplete, and their fibrotic degree of the treated-liver was reduced.ConclusionThese results indicate that antisense-Smad 4 gene can reduce the expression of Smad 4,inhibit the progression of liver fibrosis.

Objective:To investigate the role of long-chain non-coding RNA MEG3 and DNA demethylase TET2 in the invasive growth of pituitary growth hormone (GH) adenomas, and provide research directions for the subsequent exploration of molecular biological mechanisms. Methods:All of 60 patients with GH pituitary adenomas diagnosed in Dalian Central Hospital from January 2016 to November 2019 were collected, and the normal anterior pituitary tissue samples of 10 patients with traumatic brain injury without neurological or endocrine system diseases were collected as control group. Real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) was used to detect the expression of lnc RNA MEG3 and TET2 in normal pituitary tissue as well as invasive and non-invasive pituitary growth hormone adenomas, and the differences between each groups were analyzed. At the same time, age and gender were included in the research, and the effects of age and gender on the invasive growth of pituitary GH adenomas were analyzed. Results:The aggressive growth of MEG3 and TET2 was independent of patients′ age and gender. The expression of lncRNA MEG3 in invasive pituitary GH adenoma and non-invasive pituitary GH adenoma was significantly lower than that in normal control brain tissue. Analysis of the differences between the groups found that the expression level of lncRNA MEG3 in normal trauma control pituitary tissues, non-invasive GH adenomas, and invasive GH adenomas were sequentially decreased, and MEG3 expression level was related to the aggressive growth behavior of pituitary GH adenomas ( P<0.05). The expression levels of DNA demethylase TET2 in invasive pituitary GH adenomas and non-invasive pituitary GH adenomas were significantly lower than those in the normal control brain tissue, and the expression levels in the three groups of samples gradually decreased ( P<0.05). It suggested that the expression of lncRNA MEG3 was positively correlated with the expression of DNA demethylase TET2. Conclusions:The low expression of lncRNA MEG3 and DNA demethylase TET2 is closely related to the aggressiveness of pituitary growth hormone adenoma.

Objective To study the mechanisms of Pericarpium Arecae. Methods A total of Wistar rats were randomly divided into Pericarpium Arecae group and control group, Pericarpium Arecae decoction or distilled water were given respectively. Changes of gastrointestinal motility rats were assayed by Dextran blue-2000 after 1 and 6 hours. The distributions of SP and VIP in antrum and jejunum were investigated by immunohistochemistry assay. Results The gastrointestinal motility of rats was markedly enhanced (P<0.01 or P<0.05). The expressions of SP increased significantly (P<0.01 or P<0.05) and the expressions of VIP decreased significantly (P<0.01 or P<0.05) in antrum and jejunum of rats at 1 and 6 h after Pericarpium Arecae decoction was given. The changes were more obvious at 1 h than at 6 h. Conclusion The kinetogenic effect of Pericarpium Arecae is closely correlated to the increase of SP expression and the decrease of VIP expression in gastrointestinal tract.

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2023;35(3):250-252
Objective :
To investigate the epidemiological characteristics of influenza among the elderly in Heilongjiang Province from 2017 to 2021 (April 2017 to March 2022), so as to provide insights into influenza control among the elderly.
Methods :
The data pertaining to surveillance of patients with influenza-like illness (ILI) at ages of 60 years and older in Heilongjiang Province from 2017 to 2021 were retrieved from Chinese Influenza Surveillance Information Management, and the temporal distribution of ILI cases and the results of influenza virus tests were descriptively analyzed.
Results :
Totally 26 908 ILI cases at ages of 60 years and older were reported in Heilongjiang Province from 2017 to 2021, with an ILI prevalence rate of 0.17%. The prevalence of ILI appeared a tendency towards a rise in Heilongjiang Province from 2017 to 2021 (χ2trend=268.554, P<0.001), and the epidemic peaked in the 3rd to 7th weeks of 2019 and 2020. The overall positive rate of influenza virus was 6.80%, and the positive rate of influenza virus showed a tendency towards a decline from 2017 to 2021 (χ2trend=425.268, P<0.001). Influenza A (H1N1) pdm09 (46.82%) and A (H3N2) (22.79%), as well as influenza B virus lineages B/Victoria (12.11%) and B/Yamagata (18.28%) were predominant types, which changes among the study period. The detection of influenza virus-positive samples peaked from December to March of the next year, and a high positive rate of influenza virus was detected in Hegang (12.35%), Heihe (11.47%) and Daqing cities (11.07%). There was no significant correlation between the prevalence of ILI and the positive rate of influenza virus in Heilongjiang Province from 2017 to 2021 (rs=-0.800, P=0.104).
Conclusions
The prevalence of ILI appeared a tendency towards a rise among the elderly at ages of 60 years and older in Heilongjiang Province from 2017 to 2021, and the epidemic peaked in winter and spring. Influenza A (H1N1) pdm09, A (H3N2), B/Victoria, B/Yamagata were alternately prevalent and there was no obvious correlation between ILI prevalence and the positive rate of influenza virus.
