Objective To understand the cognitive and behavioral characteristics of AIDS between male-male in college students, and to provide evidence for the prevention and control strategies. Methods Using cluster random sampling method, the questionnaire survey including basic situation, the perception of HIV/AIDS of male male actors, sexual behavior and condom use and HIV/AIDS counseling detection, was used to investigate in male students of 8 universities at Beijing fangshan distric. Results A total of 2444 male college students were surveyed, 138 cases with male-male behavior were detected, and the detection rate was 5.65%. The detection rate (18.31%) of the junior college students was statistically higher than that of first-year college students (4.28%) and sophomores (6.52%, P<0.017). The awareness rates of four relevant knowledge about HIV/AIDS for 138 students were 25.36%, 15.22%, 9.42%and 13.77%respectively. The 44.93%male-male in college students had first sexual intercourse were younger than 18 years old. The proportion of students with first time male-male behavior and age <18 years was higher in the first-year college students (58.9%) than that of sophomores and junior college students (30.77%, 26.92%). The incidence rate of bisexuality was 43.48% in male-male behavior, and 73.91% was polysexual partners. The correct usage rate of condom was 31.16%. AIDS counseling detection rate was 27.54%. Conclusion The detection rate is higher in students with male-male behavior, and the awareness rate of AIDS-related knowledge is lower. A variety of high risk sexual behaviors are prevalent, so it is necessary to strengthen HIV/AIDS education and HIV/AIDS related knowledge for college students.

There are limited reports available regarding the treatment of amputated noses. This article presented a case of an incompletely amputated nose in a 47-year-old male who was admitted to Dalian University Affiliated Xinhua Hospital in July 2023. He was characterized by an amputated right nasal tip and alar region, with an avulsion area of approximately 4 cm×4 cm. The broad pedicle was connected to the nasal base, approximately 5 mm below the remaining nasal column, and only the nasal column retained a satisfactory arterial blood supply. During the operation, the amputated tissue was implanted in situ, and clindamycin was employed to prevent infection after the operation by intravenous infusion. Bloodletting with flaps, wet application of heparin saline, and massage were employed and all the amputated tissue survived. The appearance of the nose was deemed acceptable. By reviewing relevant literature, the author discussed and summarized the methods of nasal blood supply and treatment for nasal amputated injuries, thereby providing a reference for the management of similar cases.

Objective To investigate the relationship of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) with blood-lipid levels. Methods Individuals 40 years old or older who had undergone a physical-health examination in our hospital between January and December 2017 were enrolled in this study. Information regarding medical history and the results of essential ophthalmological and physical-health examinations were examined to exclude individuals with serious chronic diseases such as malignant tumors, stroke, myocardial infarction, pulmonary heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and kidney disease. One thousand nine individuals with AMD (all at the early stage) were included in the AMD group, and 3489 individuals without AMD were included in the non-AMD group. Data of all participants, including total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels, were collected and analyzed. Results The average age in the AMD group was higher than that in the non-AMD group, and the male to female ratio was significantly higher in the AMD group (P<0.05). After adjusting for age, gender, and BMI confounders, multiple linear stepwise regression analysis revealed that HDL-C was associated with AMD (β=-0.026, 95% CI: 0.045-0.006, P=0.011); there was no correlation between TC, TG, LDL-C, and AMD (all P>0.05). Conclusion Early stage AMD was related to a decrease in HDL-C, which may be a protective factor against AMD. Further study is warranted to validate this finding.

Objective:To study the level of neutralizing antibodies produced in the population at different time intervals after completion of the inactivated 2019-nCoV vaccine immunization, and to evaluate the protective effect produced by the vaccine in the population. Methods:Fifty volunteers were included in this study, the neutralizing antibodies were detected by ELISA, and the inhibition rate and positive rate were calculated from the absorbance OD value. Results:The positive rates were 76% (38/50), 68% (34/50), 30% (15/50) and 100% (50/50) in the groups of 6, 8, 10 months’ intervals and intensive immunization, respectively; while the mean suppression rates were 58.80%, 49.86%, 34.60 and 95.55%, respectively. The result of the time main effects test showed that there was a statistically significant difference in the mean inhibition rate between the different time periods (F = 326.00, P<0.001). The paired t-test showed a gradual decrease in the mean inhibition rate in the 6th, 8th and 10th month, with a significant increase ( P<0.001) after 7-day in intensive immunization. Conclusions:This study showed after two doses of the 2019-nCoV vaccine, the level of neutralizing antibodies gradually decreased and weakened over time, but there was immune memory in the body, and when the body intensively stimulated by vaccine again, the level of neutralizing antibodies would rise significantly.

Objective:To investigate the relationship between carotid atherosclerosis(CAS)and subclinical left ventricular(LV)dysfunction in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with preserved LV ejection fraction(LVEF).Methods:A total of 120 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who had LVEF≥50% were selected in the Department of Endocrinology, the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University from June 2021 to October 2021. The global longitudinal strain(GLS)was obtained by two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography(STE)to assess subclinical LV systolic function. The mitral ratio of peak early to late diastolic filling velocity(E/A), and mitral velocity to early diastolic velocity of the mitral annulus(E/E′)ratio were obtained by pulsed tissue Doppler echocardiography to assess LV diastolic function. Acrroding to bilateral carotid ultrasound examination, the subjects were divided into normal carotid arteries group( n=46) and CAS group( n=74). Demographics and biochemical parameters were compared between two groups. Binary logistic regression and Pearson correlation analysis were used to evaluate the relationship between CAS and subclinical LV dysfunction. Results:The CAS group had a higher proportion of men, older age, and a longer duration of diabetes than the normal carotid arteries group(all P<0.05). There was no difference in LVEF and GLS between the two groups [normal carotid arteries group vs CAS group, LVEF: (60.72±4.73)% vs(60.07±4.28)%; GLS: (18.24±3.72)% vs(17.81±3.47)%, respectively; both P>0.05]. However, compared with normal carotid arteries group, E/A ratio was decreased and E/E′ ratio was significantly increased in CAS group(both P<0.01). Pearson correlation analysis showed that GLS was not correlated with carotid plaque thickness and carotid intima-media thickness(CIMT; both P>0.05). By contrast, E/E′ ratio was positively correlated with carotid plaque thickness and CIMT(both P<0.05). Binary logistic regression analysis showed that GLS and E/E′ ratio were not associated with CAS( both P>0.05). However, decreased E/A ratio was significantly associated with the existence of CAS( OR=0.09, 95% CI 0.01-0.67, P=0.018). Conclusions:In type 2 diabetes mellitus patients without overt heart failure and with preserved LVEF, the occurrence of CAS is not associated with subclinical LV systolic impairment assessed by GLS, but is significantly associated with LV diastolic dysfunction, and is independent of traditional cardiovascular risk factors.
