This paper reports one case of atypical falciparum malaria imported from Africa, whose blood smear contains many large trophozoites, with punctiform or massive brown pigment granules, the body shape of the plasmodium is similar to that of Plas-modium vivax and Plasmodium ovale. After the gene detection by PCR,the case was diagnosed as falciparum malaria. As large tro-phozoites were rarely seen in the peripheral blood of non-severe falciparum malaria cases, much attention should be paid to the identification of Plasmodium falciparum and other plasmodia in microscopic examinations.

0.05).The concentration of IL-6 in sputum of multi-virus infection group(122.51?39.86)ng/L was higher than in single virus infection group(65.30?34.92)ng/L.The concentration of IL-6 in sputum of bacteria-virus mixed infection group(120.31?46.62)ng/L was higher than in bacteria or virus single infection group(83.61?47.83)ng/L.Conclusion Streptococcus pneumonia and influenza virus A infection are important factors in AECOPD at early stage.Virus infection would prolong recovery time, increase inflammation of the airway and even induce bacteria infection. Therefore,we should pay more attention to the virus infection in COPD patients, especially A-type influenza virus.
3.Updates in preoperative assessment of autograft diameter for reconstruction of anterior cruciate ligament
Chinese Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma 2024;26(3):267-271
The autograft diameter is crucial to a successful reconstruction of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). It is recommended that the autograft diameter should be at least 8 mm to avoid the risk of re-rupture of the transplanted tendon. Hamstring tendon autografts are popular due to their biomechanical properties similar to those of the ACL, fewer complications, and better mid-to-long term effectiveness. However, the uncontrollable length and diameter of the tendon add intraoperative uncertainty to the surgery. This review explored the latest advances in predicting the graft diameter from measurement of individual data, preoperative multi-row CT and three-dimensional CT imaging, preoperative ultrasonic probe detection, and preoperative magnetic resonance imaging inspection, providing a basis to facilitate preoperative assessment of the graft diameter.

COVID-19 is caused by a novel coronavirus-severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which has being spreading around the world, posing a serious threat to human health and lives. Neutralizing antibodies and small molecule inhibitors for virus replication cycle are the main antiviral treatment for novel coronavirus recommended in China. To further promote the rational use of antiviral therapy in clinical practice, the National Center for Infectious Diseases (Beijing Ditan Hospital Capital Medical University and the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine) invited experts in fields of infectious diseases, respiratory and intensive care to develop an Expert Consensus on Antiviral Therapy of COVID-19 based on the Diagnosis and Treatment Guideline for COVID-19 ( trial version 10) and experiences in the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 in China. The consensus is concise, practical and highly operable, hopefully it would improve the understanding of antiviral therapy for clinicians and provide suggestions for standardized medication in treatment of COVID-19.
