Objective To study the relationship between QT interval and the components of metabolic syndrome in adult Chinese population. Methods Totally 975 adults(494 men and 481 women)aged 41~53 from the study cohort of Fetal Origin of Adult Disease(FOAD)were recruited in the study for epidemiologic examinations, involving anthropometry and measurements of blood pressure, fasting and 2hr plasma levels of glucose and insulin and serum levels of lipid.A standard 12-lead ECG was recorded and the corrected QT(QTc)was calculated accordingly by Bazett formula.HOMA-IR index was calculated for estimating individual insulin resistance.Metabolic syndrome(MS)was diagnosed according to the definition issued by the International Diabetes Federation(IDF)in 2005.Results The prolonged QT interval was found in 262 of the 975 cases(26.9%),and the rates of prolonged QT interval being 21.6% and 32.6% in men and women respectively(P=0.0001).The prevalences of MS,IR,central obesity,IFG,higher serum level of triglyceride(TG)and lower serum level of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)were 19.7%,19.5%,42.5%,34.3%,26.3%,34.6% and 31.1% in this mid-aged population respectively. The prolonged QT interval was significantly associated with MS,IR,IFG,higher serum level of triglyceride(TG)and certral obesity respectively(P

AIM: To investigate the effects of insulin on aortic constriction caused by endothelin-1(ET-1) in normal and hyperglycemic rats. METHODS: Hyperglycemic rat models were prepared. Two aortic rings were immersed in the Krebs-Hensleit fluid with and without insulin (40 mIU/L) and the responses of rings to 10 -9 mol/L ET-1 were observed. RESULTS:ET-1 induced more obvious aortic ring constriction in normal rats than those in hyperglycemic rats ( P

AIM: To make hyperglycemia models and observe the effects of hyperglycemia on expressive type transformation of vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC) in rats METHODS: Using tissue culture and radioactivity analysis methods RESULTS:①Hyperglycemia group was lower than control group in NO - 2 content, nitric oxide synthase activity and cGMP content;②Hyperglycemia group was higher than control group in endothelin, insulin, total chdesterol and [ 3H]-TdR penetrated rate of VSMC CONCLUSION: It was possible that hyperglycemia reduces the expressive type of VSMC to change and promotes VSMC proliferation

Despite the achievements obtained worldwide in the control of tuberculosis in recent years, many countries and regions including China still face challenges such as low diagnosis rate, high missed diagnosis rate, and delayed diagnosis of the disease. The discovery strategy of tuberculosis in China has changed from "active discovery by X-ray examination" to "passive discovery by self-referral due to symptoms", and currently the approach is integrated involving self-referral due to symptoms, active screening, and physical examination. Active screening could help to identify early asymptomatic and untreated cases. With the development of molecular biology and artificial intelligence-assisted diagnosis technology, there are more options for active screening among the large-scale populations. Although the implementation cost of a population-based active screening strategy is high, it has great value in social benefits, and active screening in special populations can obtain better benefits. Active screening of tuberculosis is an important component of the disease control. It is suggested that active screening strategies should be optimized according to the specific conditions of the regions to ultimately ensure the benefit of the tuberculosis control.
