Objective To examine whether the prenatal hypoxia adaptation has any protective effect on the brain of the newborn rat Methods 12 22 day pregnant Wistar rats were randomly divided into 2 groups: the control group and the treated group In the treated group the pregnant rats were placed in a tightly closed hypoxia adaptation chamber When the O 2% in the chamber dropped to 15%, the rat was taken out to breathe fresh air for 5 min then put back in the chamber This process was repeated until its natural delivery In control the chamber was not tightly closed (O 2%=21%) 40 newborn rats weighing 6 8g were selected and subjected to brain ischemia and hypoxia, Left common carotid artrey was ligated under ether anesthesia 2h after recovery from surgery the newborn rats were placed in hypoxia chamber (T=36℃?1℃,O 2%=9%)for 1 5h 24h later they were sacrificed and brain was removed for microscopic examination (optical and electron) and flow cytometry measurement Results In the treated group most newborns were normal There were a few apoptosis cells in early stage The rate of apoptosis was 2 9%, necrosis cells could hardly be seen In the control group, although most neurons were also normal but there were apoptosis cells in early, middle and late stage and even necrosis cells The rate of apoptosis was 9 51%, which was significantly different from that in the treated group Conclusions Prenatal hypoxia adaptation has protective effect on the brain of newborn rat

Objective To investigate the effects of clod plasma cardioplegia on the function and structure of immature myocardium. Methods Thirty-two new Zealand white rabbits of 17-26 days weighing (512 ?56) g were anesthetized and heparinized. Their hearts were excised and perfused in a Langendorff apparatus with warm (37℃) oxygenated (95%O2, 5%CO2) Krebs-Henseleit buffer(KHB) at 60 cm H2O perfusion pressure. After the isolated heart had been beating regularly for 10 min, the heart was perfused with clod (10℃) St. Thomas cardioplegic solution (group C, n = 16) or cold cardioplegic solution mixed with plasma (St. Thomas solution: plasma = 1:4) (group P, n=16). The K+ concentration of the cardioplegic solution in both groups was the same. After 30 min cardiac arrest the heart was again perfused with KHB. The following observations were made: (1) the interval from the beginning of cardioplegic solution infusion to cardiac arrest and the amount of cardioplegic solution used; (2) the duration from KHB reperfusion after 30 min cardiac arrest to the recovery of regular heart beat; (3) heat rate after recovery from cardioplegia; (4) coronary flow; (5 ) myocardial water content; (6) myocardial structural changes shown by microscopic examination. Results (1) There was no significant difference in the time needed to induce cardiac arrest and for recovery of regular heart beat from cardioplegia. Objective To compare the effects of autologous blood transfusion and allogenic blood transfusion on the patients undergoing selective operation of intervertebral fusion with cage. Methods Forty patients who underwent selective operation of intervertebral fusion with cage in the De?partment of Orthopedics of our hospital from September 2012 to June 2014 were recruited for the study,including 20 cases that received autologous blood transfusion only(group A)and 20 cases that received allogenic blood transfusion only(group B). Preoperative and postoperative results of blood routine examination,body temperature,postoperative recovery indicators and expense of blood transfusion were compared between the two groups. Results The postoperative erythrocyte and hemoglobin of the patients in group A were significantly higher than those in group B(P<0.05). When the amount of blood used during the operation reaches or exceeds 4 units,the expense of autologous blood transfusion was lower than that of allogenic blood transfusion. Conclusion Autologous blood transfusion contributes to higher levels of postoperative erythrocyte and hemoglo?bin. When a large amount of blood is used during an operation,autotransfusion can help to reduce the expense of blood transfusion.

Objective To understand the incidence of common geriatric syndromes in hospitalized patients,and analyze the relationship between different kinds of geriatric syndromes.Methods A crosssectional study was conducted by five well-trained investigators-300 patients were chosen from geriatric department and medical department within 3 top three hospitals in Chengdu.Results 300 copies of questionnaires were distributed in total,and 300 questionnaires were returned (response rate 100％).Among those,277 questionnaires were considered valid (valid response rate 92.3％).Among those elderly which were above 65 years old,having risk of falling accounted for 91.3％,feeling pain accounted for 79.1％,chronic constipation accounted for 59.2％,having risk of malnutrition accounted for 49.1％,malnutrition accounted for 28.2％,having risk of pressure ulcers accounted for 32.5％,incontinence accounted for 25.3％,and dysphagia accounted for 17％.The correlation among these syndromes was signifcant.Conclusions The overall incidence of geriatric syndromes in hospitalized patients is higher than that in the community.These syndromes are correlated with each other.One can be a risk factor of other geriatric syndromes and also could affect each other.

Objective To explore the epidemiologic al features of emergency calls around the spring festival holiday in past 5 years,so as to guide emergency medical services during holldays.Methods An investigation was made into emergency calls around the spring festival holiday in 2001～2005(1～7 of the first month of the lunar year) as well as one week before and after the holiday.Results The person-times to emergency during the spring festival holiday was correspondly stabilize in the recent 5 years,compared to the datas of the previous and subsequent 1 week,the person-times of emergency and the patients needed to rescue at first significantly increased,and the patients to pediatric emergency increased most significantly.The most part of the person-times to emergency were internal medicine.Conclusion It is essential to do a good job of health education and disease prevention,especially among high risk groups of people,and to reinforce the establishment of the emergency medical services system so as to effectively guarantee the the development of holiday economy.

In order to explore the effects of diet and nutritional factors on breast cancer incidence, a case-control study was conducted in Tianjin. The study consisted of 244 cases diagnosed between September 1986 and September 1987 and equal number of matched controls from patients other than breast cancer in general hospital.The socio-demographic data, histories of menstruation and reproduction etc were collected by interview. The interview on diet was conducted by recalling the frequencies and amounts of various foods eaten one year prior to the diagnosis' of their current diseases. Data were analysed by using a nutrient-estimate program and conditional logistic regression model, chi square test and u-test.After adjusting for confounding factors, the results showed that high fat, high calorie, high monounsaturated fatty acid and low vitamin C intakes were risk factors for female breast cancer. High fat percentage of energy and low vegetable intake were associated with increased risk for breast cancer.

Objective:To investigate the effect of PLTP gene on CSE-induced IL-8 production in human bronchial epithelial cell line (HBECs). Methods:Wistar rats were exposed to air or cigarette smoke for 6 hours/day on 3 consecutive days,then the lungs were sectioned and examined. The number of total white blood cell and differential white blood cells in BALF were counted. The different concentrations of CSE co-cultured with HBECs for 24 hours. Cells growth was detected by MTT assay. Expression levels of PLTP mRNA and IL-8 mRNA were examined by RT-PCR,protein of PLTP was investigated by Western blot,and production of IL-8 ex-amined by ELISA. Results:The number of white blood cells in BALF was significantly increased compared with controls. Enhanced ex-pression level of PLTP and IL-8 were observed in CS-exposure group. Proliferation of HBECs tends to decrease at high concentrations of CSE(2. 0% CSE and 4. 0% CSE). The results suggested that the production of IL-8 induced by CSE in a time- and concentration-dependent manner,while the expression of PLTP induced by CSE in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore,expression levels of IL-8 significantly increased after silence PLTP gene. Conclusion:PLTP siRNA could increase CSE-induced IL-8 production in HBECs.

Objective To observe the improvement of postoperative pulmonary function and oxygen partial pressure during general anesthesia for open abdominal surgery with lung protective ventilation strategies and alveolar recruitment maneuvers. Methods Seventy patients who underwent selective open abdominal surgery were selected, and they were divided into standard ventilation group (tidal volume 8 ml/kg) and protective ventilation group (tidal volume 6 ml/kg, 5 cmH2O positive end-expiratory pressure, and alveolar recruitment maneuvers, 1 cmH2O=0.098 kPa) according to the random digits table method with 35 cases each. The airway pressure, blood pressure, pulse oxygen saturation (SpO2), end-tidal partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PETCO2) and adverse reactions were observed. The SpO2, partial pressure of O2 (PaO2) and pulmonary function before surgery and 1, 3, 5 d after surgery were measured. Results The respiratory rate, airway pressure and PETCO2 levels in protective ventilation group were significantly higher than those in standard ventilation group: (12.3 ± 2.1) times/min vs. (10.2 ± 1.0) times/min, (15.1 ± 2.8) cmH2O vs. (13.5 ± 2.3) cmH2O, (34.6 ± 2.1) mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa) vs. (32.1 ± 1.4) mmHg, and there were statistical differences (P<0.05). The SpO2 in 2 groups was maintained at 0.99. There was no statistical difference in the incidence of postoperative complications between 2 groups (P>0.05). The SpO2 and PaO2 levels at 1, 3 d after surgery in protective ventilation group were significantly higher than those in standard ventilation group:0.951 ± 0.018 vs. 0.936 ± 0.016 and 0.964 ± 0.018 vs. 0.949 ± 0.018, (74.8 ± 6.8) mmHg vs. (65.0 ± 6.2) mmHg and (79.6 ± 6.0) mmHg vs. (70.6 ± 5.3) mmHg, and there were statistical differences (P<0.05). The forced expiratory volume in 1 s (FEV1), percentage of the estimated value of FEV1, forced vital capacity (FVC) and percentage of the estimated value of FVC at 1, 3 and 5 d after surgery in protective ventilation group were significantly higher than those in standard ventilation group, the FEV1/FVC at 1 d after surgery was significantly higher than that in standard ventilation group, and there were statistical differences (P<0.05). Conclusions The lung protective ventilation strategy and alveolar recruitment maneuvers can improve the postoperative pulmonary function and oxygen partial pressure during general anesthesia for abdominal surgery. Low vital volume, appropriate positive end-expiratory pressure and recruitment maneuvers can protect the lung in general anesthesia patients.

Objective To explore whether apply selective perineal skin preparation or not is feasible for patients with coronary heart disease (CHD) before percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).Methods Divided patients with CHD before PCI into the experimental group (801 cases) and the control group(798 cases) according to the hospital number.Selective perineal skin preparation was used in the experimental group,while the right forearm skin preparation was used in all the patients in the control group.The rate of skin preparation and the care hours in the two groups were compared.Results The care hours of skin preparation in the experimental group was (5.58±0.30) h,which was significant shorter than that in the control group,(66.50±1.50) h,t=-1127.03,P＜0.05.Conclusions Before PCI,for patients with CHD,applying selective perineal skin preparation is feasible.It can not only reduce care labor,decrease nursing costs,but also relieve nurse-patient psychological pressure,cut back patients' expenses;and without percutaneous entrance infection.
