1.The effects of supplemented with DHA on synaptic plasticity during development period in rats
Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2003;0(08):-
Aim To discover the change of synaptic plasticity by supplementing DHA during development period in rats. Method We divided Wistar rats into two groups: fish oil group and control group. The fish oil rats were supplemented with fish oil(5?10~3 ml?g-1 body weight) by gavage daily. The control rat was supplemented with NS of the same dose. 90 days later, each rat was hippocampus of anaesthetized and LTP and LTD were recorded at hippocampus of the same rat. Result Compared to the control group, DHA group presented an obvious increase in PS LTP, while no changes were found in EPSP LTP. On the other hand,DHA group demonstrated an obvious canceling effect on both EPSP and PS LTD. Conclusion There exist effects on synaptic plasticity after supplement with DHA. It may be one of the factors that DHA improves learning and memory.

Objective To investigate the effect of butylphthalide and sodium chloride injection postconditioning on focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury and endoplasmic reticulum stress in rats. Methods Thirty-six male SPF Sprague-Dawley rats, aged 2-3 months, weighing 260-280 g,were randomly divided into 3 groups (n =12 each):sham operation group (group S),focal cerebral I/R group (group I/R) and butylphthalide and sodium chloride injection postconditioning group (group Buty). The animals were anesthetized with intraperitoneal 10 % chloral hydrate 300 mg/kg.Focal cerebral I/R was induced by occluding right middle cerebral artery for 2 h followed by 24 h reperfusion in I/R and Buty groups.Butylphthalide and sodium chloride injection 2.5 mg/kg was injected via the tail vein immediately after onset of reperfusion in Buty group, while the equal volume of normal saline was injected in I/R group.Neurological deficits were assessed and scored at 24 h of reperfusion, and then the brain was isolated for detection of neuronal apoptosis (by TUNEL) and the expression of glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78) and caspase-12 in ischemic cerebral cortex (by immunohistochemistry) in brain tissues.Apoptosis index was calculated. Results Compared with group S,the neurological deficit scores and apoptosis index were significantly increased, and the expression of GRP78 and caspase-12 was up-regulated in I/R and Buty groups (P < 0.05 or 0.01).Compared with group I/R,the neurological deficit scores and apoptosis index were significantly decreased, the expression of GRP78 was up-regulated,and the expression of caspase-12 was down-regulated in group Buty (P < 0.05).Conclusion Butylphthalide and sodium chloride injection postconditioning can reduce focal cerebral I/R injury in rats, and inhibition of endoplasmic reticulum stressmediated cell apoptosis is involved in the mechanism.
3.Professor HAN Xinmin's Treatment of Pediatric Sigh
Journal of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University 2018;42(3):232-234
[Objective]The paper summarizes Professor HAN Xinmin's experiences on treating pediatric sigh by using Gualou Xiebai Banxia decoction.[Methods] By learning from Professor HAN Xinmin, recording the relevant cases and analyzing typical cases, to sum up the academic thoughts and effective prescription, as well as list one proved case. [Results] Professor HAN Xinmin holds that most children with sigh have syndromes of deficiency and excess. This is the case of Qi deficiency of the spleen and lung, the insufficiency of the chest Yang and with phlegm evil. Using Gualou Xiebai Banxia decoction with the method of clearing Yang Qi and removing phlegm and activating blood stasis can achieve a satisfactory clinical curative effect by treating based on syndrome differentiation. [Conclusion] Professor HAN Xinmin has unique clinical experience for treating pediatric sigh. Gualou Xiebai Banxia decoction has significant effect, which has the value of popularization and application.

Journal of Preventive Medicine 2022;34(5):475-478
Objective :
To investigate the establishment of smoke-free environments in medical and healthcare institutions in Zhejiang Province, so as to provide the evidence for improving the implementation of the tobacco control policy in medical and healthcare institutions.
Methods:
Health administrative sectors and public health institutions at provincial, city and county levels, secondary and tertiary medical institutions, and community health service/township health centers in Zhejiang Province were enrolled. The status of institutional establishment of smoke-free environments was investigated through concealed photography and consulting medical service guides by the assigned the third-party professional investigation company in 2021. The layout of smoke-free environments and indoor smoking were assessed according to the Criteria for Scoring Smoking-free Medical and Healthcare Institutions.
Results:
Totally 547 medical and healthcare institutions were enrolled in this undercover investigation, including 102 health administrative sectors, 209 public health institutions, 146 secondary and tertiary medical institutions, and 90 community health service/township health centers. The gross mean scores of establishment of smoke-free environments were 83.41±12.19 among all medical and healthcare institutions, 82.02±10.73, 85.56±9.70 and 83.18±12.59 among province-, city- and county-level medical and healthcare institutions, respectively, and the gross mean scores of establishment of smoke-free environments were 82.60±12.27, 85.79±10.74, 80.89±13.85, 82.27±11.62 scores among health administrative sectors, public health institutions, secondary and tertiary medical institutions and community health service/township health centers, respectively. There were 315 institutions with no smoking signs at entrances (57.59%), 255 institutions posting no smoking signs ( 46.62% ), 245 institutions assigning two and more types of health education materials for tobacco control ( 44.79% ), 110 institutions with outdoor smoking areas ( 51.16% ), 66 secondary and tertiary medical institutions with smoking cessation clinics ( 45.20% ) and 354 institutions with carpet smoking bans in indoor places ( 64.72% ).
Conclusions
The overall establishment of smoke-free environments is satisfactory among medical and healthcare institutions in Zhejiang Province. Nevertheless, improving the coverage of no smoking signs and health education of tobacco control, promoting the standardized construction of smoking cessation clinics and establishing a long-action tobacco control mechanism are still needed.

Objective:To explore the value of ex- vivo porcine stomach model for endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) training for international trainees. Methods:Fifteen international students received ESD training and learning for twenty days. Firstly, students learned basic theory of ESD and completed a questionnaire. Then they were randomized to receive endoscopic training either on the vitro animal (group A) or on training experience (group B) of the clinical observation. At last, one case was assessed by an experienced endoscopist. The total and step-by-step operating time, complete resection, size of specimen and complications were recorded. All students completed the questionnaire once again. SPSS 20.0 was used for t test and chi-square test. Results:There was significant difference in total ESD operation time between group A and group B ( P<0.05). There were significant differences between the two groups on cutting time and dissection time, but there was no difference on marking time, injection time and operating speed. There was only one case of block resection and perforation in each group. For group A, their mastery and clinic confidence of ESD had been obviously increased after the animal training course. Compared with the operation before the training in group A, it was found that the total time and cutting time of the ESD after the training were also significantly improved. Conclusion:Theory combined with endoscopic training on vitro animal model can make the trainees familiar with the basic theory and master the operational skills, which is helpful and valuable for them to perform ESD in further clinic practice.
