Objective Antimicrobial peptides are the focus of recent research in oral microbiology .This study aimed to eval-uate the activity of a novel antimicrobial peptide pm 11 against oral microorganisms and its action mechanisms . Methods We ana-lyzed the effect of pm11 on oral microorganisms and determined its antimicrobial activity in the saliva environment by measuring its min -imal inhibitory concentration (MIC), minimal bactericide concentration (MBC), and bactericidal kinetics. We observed its bacteri-cidal activity on the biofilms of streptococcus mutans by confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) and the structural changes in the bacterial membrane by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results The antimicrobial activity of pm11 varied greatly against dif-ferent oral microorganisms , with its MIC values ranging from 2 μg/mL to 256 μg/mL and its MBC values from 2 μg/mL to >256μg/mL.The bactericidal kinetics showed a decreasing survival rate of bacteria with the lengthening of the intervention time .The inhib-itory-zone diameters exhibited no significant indifference between the water solution and the sterile saliva solution .CLSM revealed an increased number of dead bacteria in the pm 11-treated biofilms , while SEM manifested obvious changes in the shape of the bacteria membrane treated with pm11. Conclusion Our findings suggest that pm11 has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activities on oral mi-croorganisms and a potential value of clinical application .

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2014;34(11):1115-1118
The papers regarding moxibustion published in science citation index (SCI) journals for the recent 5 years were searched to explore the international tendency of moxibustion researches, which provided references for moxibustion to have a better internationalization. With methods of internet search and database search, a total of 116 papers regarding moxibustion were included. These papers were published in 40 kinds of journals, mostly in Britain and the United States. The journal with the highest impact factor was Stroke, which had 5729 points. The number and impact factor of these journals were inferior to those of acupuncture journal. Compared among these journals, the depth and width of moxibustion research were increasing year by year. The category of diseases related with moxibustion is mainly digestive system diseases, motor system diseases and urinary-genital system diseases. The type of papers was characterized with clinical observation and mechanism research. Researches related with moxibustion included moxibustion dose and safety. It was believed that the international recognition of moxibustion effectiveness, standardization of moxibustion manipulation, standardization research, etc. were needed to be solved in the further.

AIMTo study the possibility that responses of fever and discharge of neurons in PVN to intraperitoneal administration of LPS are mediated by vagal afferents.
METHODSRectal temperature of rat was detected by digital temperature detecting instrument. Glass micropipette placed in PVN was used to record unit discharges of neurons in it, before and after LPS was injected into PVN in normal rats and vagotomy rats.
RESULTSThe rectal temperature change value in vagotomy LPS group was significantly decreased compared with that in sham LPS group, and there was striking difference between them (P < 0.05). The discharges of neurons in PVN was increased in the normal rat in response to LPS. The discharges of neurons in PVN had no significant change in the vagotomy rats in response to LPS.
CONCLUSIONThe results indicate that vagus nerve may be one of the pathways of peripheral LPS signal communicating to CNS.

OBJECTIVETo analyze the relationship between the pulse pressure (PP) and atherosclerotic renal artery stenosis (ARAS) in middle-age and eldery paients with hyperensio, so as to provide the basis for the diagnosis and treatment of ARAS.
METHODSWe tetro spectively analyzed the data of 257 patients with hypertension undergoing renal arteriography at General Hospital of PLA between 2009 and 2014. Their mean age was (64.09 +/- 7.81) years. According the results of arteriography, they were divided into two groups: ARAS group (n = 145), and non-ARAS group (n = 112). Their PP and multinomial clinical indexes with ARAS were statistically analyzed.
RESULTSSingle factor correlation and Logisitic analysis showed that age, PP, serum creatinine (SCr) levels, and new onset of hypertension after 50 years of age were strongly positively related to ARAS. The age and PP and SCr was a team of continuous variable.
CONCLUSIONPP was the first new risk factor of ARAS in middile-aged and elderly patients with hypertension. It is suggested that PP may be a early predictive indicator and a new therapeutic target for ARAS.

Objective To observed hepatolenticular degeneration gene (ATP7B gene) expressed in Me32aT22/2L cell and detected whether A TP7B could transport redundant copper and reduce copper-induced cell apoptosis, which will make the basement for future gene therapy. Methods Piasmid pRc/CMV-WD containing A TP7B cDNA was transfected into Me32aT22/2L cell using lipofectamin2000 transfection methods. Intracellular distribution of ATP7B was detected by immunofluorescence histochemistry method and copper transportation function was studied using high-concentration copper incubation experiments, meanwhile, cell apoptosis induced by high-concentration copper incubation was observed. Results Expression of A TB7B gene could be detected and located around nuclei within the Me32aT22/2L cell. After incubation of high- concentration copper solution after 24, 48 and 72 hours, in empty vector group intracellular copper content was (600.60±69.71) ng/mg, (890.72±65.74) ng/mg and (1189.20±85.71) ng/mg respectively, however, intracellular copper content was (351.33±49.86) ng/mg, (427.38±30.95) ng/mg and (539.10±34.91) ng/mg in A TP7B group. Comparison of two groups has a statistical significance (P<0.01). Meanwhile, cell apoptotic rate was markedly decreased in A TPTB group compared with empty vector group (P<0.01). Conclusion Exogenous A TP7B gene could be expressed in Me32aT22/2L cell and A TPTB could transport intracellular redundant copper, subsequently reduced copper-induced cell apoptosis.
