Objective To investigate the risk factors for postoperative arytenoid dislocation.
Methods From September 2003 to August 2013, the records of 16 patients with a history of postoperative arytenoid dislocation were reviewed. Patients matched in terms of date and type of procedures were chosen as the controls (n=16). Recorded data for all patients were demographics, smoking status, alcoholic status, preoperative physical status, airway evaluation, intubation procedures, preoperative laboratory test results, anesthetic consumption and intensive care unit stay. For arytenoid dislocation cases, we further analyzed the incidences of the left and right arytenoid dislocation, and the outcomes of surgical repair and conservative treatment. Categorical variables were presented as frequencies and percentages, and were compared using the chi-squared test. Continuous variables were expressed as means±SD and compared using the Student’s unpaired t-test. To determine the predictors of arytenoid dislocation, a logistic regression model was used for multivariate analysis.
Results Sixteen patients with postoperative arytenoid dislocation were enrolled, with a median age of 52 years. Most postoperative arytenoid dislocation patients (15/16, 93.75%) received surgical repair, except one patient who recovered after conservative treatment. None of the postoperative arytenoid dislocation patients were smokers. Red blood cell (P=0.044) and hemoglobin (P=0.031) levels were significantly lower among arytenoid dislocation cases compared with the controls.
Conclusions Non-smoking and anemic patients may be susceptible to postoperative arytenoid dislocation. However, neither of them was independent risk factor for postoperative arytenoid dislocation.
4.Correlation study of the Loewenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment and the Western Aphasia Battery
Chinese Journal of Modern Nursing 2008;14(7):852-855
Objective To study the correlation of the Loewenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment and the Western Aphasia Battery, and to offer trusty warrant for clinical application. Methods A total of 37 patients with aphasia following brain lesions were selected. They received an evaluation by the Loewenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment for their recognition function, and an evaluation by the Western Aphasia Battery for their language function. The association between every subentry scores, total scores on the Loewenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment and the western aphasia battery of every subentry scores, aphasia quotient, performance quotient and cortical quotient was analyzed by using Pearson correlations analysis, partial correlations analysis, with the program SPSS 12.0.Results All 37 patients were involved in the result analysis.Correlations of total scores in LOTCA and the aphasia quotient, the performance quotient, the cortical quotient in WAB were positively significant (P<0.01).Correlations of Visual and Spatial Perception,Thinking Operations subentry scores, total scores in LOTCA and every subentry scores in WAB were positively significant (P<0.01 ).Correlations of Orientation, Visual Motor Organization subentry scores in LOTCA and repetition in WAB were not significant (P>0.05 ).However, correlations of it and other items in WAB were significant (P<0.05 ).Conclusions The relation between Language function and cognitive function was highly close correlated. The LOTCA can be clinically used to evaluate the Chinese aphasia subjects with cognitive problems after brain lesions.

Objective To study the correlation of Token Test and Loewenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment in Chinese aphasia, and to offer objective basis for clinical application in China. Methods A total of 54 patients with aphasia after stroke were selected. Japanese revised Token Test was used to assess their language functions and Loewenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment to assess their cognition functions. The associations between Token Test scores and every subentry scores, total scores on Leewenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment were analyzed by using correlations analysis and multiple stepwise regression analysis. Results Correlations of Token Test scores and every subentry scores, total scores in LOTCA were significant (all P < 0.05) by using Pearson correlations analysis and partial correlations analysis. Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that the main factor which affected the scores of Token Test was Visual and Spatial Perception. Conclusions The cognition function can promote the improvement of language functions of patients with aphasia after stroke, which may be related mostly to the perception of cognition function.

Herpes simplex virus (HSV), a member of the Herpesviridae family, is a significant human pathogen that results in mucocutaneous lesions in the oral cavity or genital infections. Acyclovir (ACV) and related nucleoside analogues can successfully treat HSV infections, but the emergence of drug resistance to ACV has created a barrier for the treatment of HSV infections, especially in immunocompromised patients. There is an urgent need to explore new and effective tactics to circumvent drug resistance to HSV. This review summarises the current strategies in the development of new targets (the DNA helicase/primase (H/P) complex), new types of molecules (nature products) and new antiviral mechanisms (lethal mutagenesis of Janus-type nucleosides) to fight the drug resistance of HSV.

Objective To explore the role of serum S-100B concentration of umbilical cord blood and blood on the 24 h after admission in the early diagnosis and development of newborn hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE).Methods Forty-six HIE newborns(31 cases with mild HIE and 15 cases with moderate and severe HIE)were selected as HIE group, and 43 normal full-term newborns were selected as control group. The umbilical cord blood sample and blood sample were aquired on the 24 h after admission. The serum S-100B concentration was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)analysis. Results 1.There was no significant difference of serum S-100B concentration between the male sub-group and female sub-group of normal group and their birth weight had no significant relative to the serum S-100B concentration.2.The serum S-100B concentration of umbilical cord blood of control group and HIE group were(1.03?0.32)and(2.53?1.1)?g/L,respectively,there was significant difference between two groups(t'=8.848 P

Objective To explore management method of the surgical emergency supply in supply division. Methods To select data during the period of improved management from November 2009 to May 2010. Results The transfer information was blocked three times in the period applying one label ( emergency supplies, to be disinfected);and no transfer blocking happened when applying the second label ( emergency supplies, sign-label). Conclusions The continuity of the transportation process of emergency supplies is ensured by using two sign-labels;The quality of emergency supplies information management is controlled by writing records.

Objective To investigate safety managements of surgical instruments employed for the minimally invasive surgery through link management so as to guarantee surgery safety. Methods All procedure managements for surgical instruments were performed, such as distribution after sterilization, surgical use, takeover after the surgery for 1 910 cases from July to December 2009 in our hospital. All the surgical instruments involved in the surgery included thoracoscopes, laparoscope, uteroscope, ventriculoscope and surgical robots. We organized management training of surgical instruments for medical staff, filed out management procedures, enhanced their consciousness of safety management, controlled the key link for quality control, performed gap management, handled the existing problems and improved management quality. Results The safety procedure management of surgical instruments was performed for the 1 910 cases, which insured that the surgery could go smoothly. Conclusions Safety management measures are established on the basis of the information traced from surgical use, takeover after the surgery, cleaning, sorting, inspection for surgical instruments so that oversight over its management could be effectively avoided, making its clinical effects more obvious.
