Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of acupuncture plus oral taking Chinese medicine compared with that of oral taking Chinese medicine only for the treatment of insomnia. Methods Totally 64 patients were randomized into treatment group(33 cases)and control group(31 cases). The treatment group was treated by acupuncture with filiform needle[Baihui(GV 20),Sishen- cong(EX-HN1),Shenting(GV 24),Neiguan(PC 6),Shenmai(BL 62)and Zhaohai(KI 6)being the main points] plus oral taking Chinese medicine. The control group was treated by oral taking Chinese medicine only. All 64 cases were examined by SPIEGEL scale. Results The treatment group was better than the control group in general therapeutic effect and improvement of quality of sleep(P

Objective: To study the antipyretic action of Dipseudoephedrine Glycyrrhizin and its effect on heart rate and blood pressure of rats. Methods: The model of pyretic rabbit was established by diphtheria-pertussis-tetanus triple vaccine, and to observe the effect of Dipseudoephedrine Glycyrrhizin on temperature of rabbit. Two-path physiological recorder was used to measure heart rate and blood pressure. Results: The experiment proved that Dipseudoephedrine Glycyrrhizin can decrease the anus temperature of pyretic rabbit obviously.Dipseudoephedrine Glycyrrhizanate had no remarkably effect on heart rate and blood pressure. Conclusion: Dipseudoephedrine Glycyrrhizin has antipyretic action and has no effect on heart rate and blood pressure within studied dose.

Objective To investigate the effects of Pulmicort Respules on the airway resistance and airway remodeling in rats with allergic asthma. Methods Thirty-two SD rats were randomly divided into blank control group, asthma model group,Pulmicort Respules group and normal saline control group, with 8 rats in each group. On the 14th day of allergization, rats were challenged by ovalbumin inhalation and were treated correspondingly. On the 28th day, airway resistance was determined,HE staining was conducted in lung tissues of each group, and airway remodeling related parameters were also measured. Results The airway resistance of Pulmicort Respules group was significant lower than that of blank control group, asthma model group and normal saline control group(P

Chinese journal of integrative medicine 2001;7(3):199-204
Objective: To explore the clinical efficacy of Chinese and western integrative medicine (TCM-WM) in treating repeatedly recurrent chronic pyelonephritis (CPN) and its therapeutic mechanism. Methods: Ninety-one repeatedly recurrent CPN patients were randomly divided into 2 groups, the control group (45 cases) treated with sufficient amount of sensitive antibiotics and other WM, the treated group (46 cases) treated with above-mentioned WM complemented with TCM syndrome differentiation (SD). Results: In the treated group completely cured was 14 cases (30.4%), markedly effective 14 cases (30.4%), the total effective rate was 91.3%; while that of the control group was 4 (8.9%), 5 (11.1%), and 48.9% respectively, (P<0.05) and (P<0.01); the mean days of urinary bacteria and urinary routine negative conversion were in the treated group 19.6±12.6 days and 24.3±11.5 days, obviously shorter than those of the control group (35.6±14.6 days and 53.6±16.4 days), P<0.01; the various symptoms of the treated group improved or disappeared in a short time, while in the control group a few patients improved in a longer period (P<0.01); the various immune parameters improved in the treated group, while in the control group only IgA was elevated to some extent (P<0.05), in comparing these data, the difference was significant (P<0.01). Conclusion: The TCM-WM integrative treatment could obviously raise the clinical efficacy, accelerate the symptom improvement, and enhance the immune function.

OBJECTIVE:In recent years, chitosan has been widely used as tissue engineering scaffolds. In this paper we reviewed the research progress in chitosan biocompatibility and gave a hypothesison possible mechanism of interactions between cells and chitosan. A model system to test this hypothesis was also discussed. DATA SOURCES: Literatures about chitosan biocompatibility were retrieved with computer in Medline, Pubmed and Elsevier from January 1998 to December 2006 with the key words of."chitosan, biocompatibility, surface charge, cell adhesion" in English.STUDY SELECTION: Literatures about chitosan biocompatibility and interactions between chitosan and cells, especially the influence of chitosan charges on cell attachment, were included, whereas repeated experiments were excluded.DATA EXTRACTION: Totally 374 literatures were collected. Among which, 30 were admitted and reviewed.DATA SYNTHESIS: Many mammalian cells can adhere, spread and proliferate on chitosan materials. It is widely accepted that the biocompatibility of chitosan is due to the electrostatic attractive force between positively charged amino groups on chitosan chains and negatively charged cell membranes. However, the pKa value of chitosan amino groups is 6.2-6.8 and the positive charge of chitosan chains is largely decreased under physiological condition as a result of amino groups unprotonation. Thus whether the chitosan's biocompatibility is due to its positive charge remains doubtful and needs further study.CONCLUSION: Based on prior studies, we hypothesize that the positive charge of amino groups on chitosan chains might not be the major factor in biocompatibility of chitosan material. Agarose/chitosan blending hydrogels is supposed to be an appropriate model system to test this hypothesis.

Microbiology 1992;0(04):-
NDV strain ZJ1 strain , a highly virulent NDV strain, has been prevalent among the waterfowls in China mainland in the past years. Multi-basic amino acid sequence distribute in the protease cleavage site of F protein of this strain. Recombinant expressing plasmid pCI-FT, was generated by converting multi-basic amino acid sequence of 112, 115, 117 of the protease cleavage site of F_ 0 protein, to the non-basic amino acid sequence characteristic of avirulent NDV strain. The result from co-expression of mutant or parental F protein with homologous HN protein in COS-1 cells revealed that both mutant and parental F protein had fusion activity. The result from co-expression of mutant or parental F protein with homologous HN protein in CEF cells showed that the cleavage activity of mutant F protein was significantly reduced. The study built a foundation for mutagenesis of amino acid sequence of the protease cleavage site of F_ 0 protein at the full-length cDNA clone level, study on factors contributing to virulence and construction of candidate vaccine strain, and so on.

Chinese Journal of Endocrinology and Metabolism 1985;0(02):-
Forty type 2 diabetic patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) were assigned to two groups and treated respectively with?-lipoic acid or mecobalamin for 2 weeks. The results suggested that?-lipoic acid could accelerate the nerve conduction velocity and decrease the plasma level of endothelin and C reactive protein as well as microalbuminceria with a effect similar to mecobalamin therapy on DPN.
