Objective To explore the effect of oxytocin on uterine fibroids treated by ultrasound ablation. Methods Eighty-two single points in 29 uterine fibroids from 26 patients were sonicated with magnetic resonance imaging guided by high intensity focused ultrasound before and after using oxytocin. The required total energy, sonication time required to reach 60 ℃ and the acoustic energy for increasing 1 ℃ of temperature at the single point before and after using oxytocin were compared. Results Before intravenous infusion of oxytocin, the average total sonication energy required to reach 60 ℃ was (5320 ±910) J and it took (21 ±20) seconds for sonicating a single point, the energy required for increasing 1 ℃ was (255 ± 302) J. In contrast, after intravenous infusion of oxytocin, the average total sonication energy required to reach 60 ℃ was (2890 ±325) J, and it took (12 ±7) seconds for sonicating a single point, the energy required for increasing 1 ℃ was ( 126 ± 94 ) J. Those three index all reached statistical difference ( P = 0.002, P = 0.001, P= 0.002, respectively). Conclusion It seemed that Oxytocin could significantly decrease the energy required for ablating uterine fibroids, shorten treatment time and improve the treatment efficiency.

Objective To investigate the inducing effects of selenium dioxide(SeO2 ) on the apoptosis in human cervical carcino-ma cell line Hela and its influence on the expression of apoptosis-related proteins caspase-3 and P53 .Methods Hela cells were trea-ted with different concentrations of SeO2 for 24 h in vitro ;the morphological changes of Hela cells were observed by the optical mi-croscope;the influence of SeO2 on the cell proliferation and vitality was examined by the MTT assay ;the flow cytometry was em-ployed to detect the cell apoptosis rate ;the expressions of caspase-3 and P53 proteins in Hela cells were determined by the Western blot analysis .Results Under the optical microscopy ,SeO2 generated the obvious influence on the cell growth morphology ,a large number of cells became rounded and shrunken ,and lost the normal form ,while the adherence cell number was evidently decreased and the proliferation was slowed down ;the MTT results showed that SeO2 markedly inhibited the cell proliferation and viability in a dose-dependent manner ,in which ,the cell apoptosis rates induced by the 0 ,1 .875 ,3 .750 ,7 .500 ,15 .000 and 30 .000 μmol/L con-centrations of SeO2 were 3 .12% ,30 .56% ,33 .42% ,37 .50% ,45 .43% and 69 .38% respectively ,which revealing the obviously in-creasing trend;the Western blot assay revealed that SeO2 could up-regulate the caspase-3 and P53 levels ,and reached the peak value at the concentration of 7 .500μmol/L .Conclusion SeO2 could induce the cervical cancer cell apoptosis possibly by up-regulating the expressions of caspase-3 and p53 in Hela cells .
3.Application of transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation in operation of thyroid tumors.
Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2005;25(2):129-130
OBJECTIVETo study the effect of transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation for decreasing stress response and strengthening the anesthetic effect in the operation of thyroid tumors.
METHODSSixty patients with thyroid tumors were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 30 cases in each group. All of them were given modified one-point cervical plexus nerve obstruction. The stimulation at bilateral Hegu (LI 4) and Quchi (LI 11) with HANS was added to the observation group from the beginning to end of operation.
RESULTSThe blood pressure, heart rate and jerking reflection were decreased significantly as compared with the control group. The oxygen saturation and respiratory frequency did not change.
CONCLUSIONCardiovascular stress response can be decreased with HANS in the operation of thyroid tumors and anesthetic effect can be strengthened.

Immuno-fluorescence technique can qualitatively determine certain nuclear translocation, of which NF-κB/ p65 implicates the activation of NF-κB signal pathways. Immuno-fluorescence analysis software with independent property rights is able to quantitatively analyze dynamic location of NF-κB/p65 by computing relative fluorescence units in nuclei and cytoplasm. We verified the quantitative analysis by Western Blot. When we applied the software to analysis of nuclear translocation in lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced (0. 5 h, 1 h, 2 h, 4 h) primary human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) , we found that nuclear translocation peak showed up at 2h as with calculated Western blot verification results, indicating that the inventive immuno-fluorescence analysis software can be applied to the quantitative analysis of immuno-fluorescence.

Nerve growth factor is one of the most important factors playing an important role in regulating the growth, development and survival of the neuron. The purified NGF from human placenta has been reported, the tissue from which can be isolated the NGF is very limited. It is important for basic research and clinic application to expression hNGF by genetic engineering. By polymerase chain reaction, gene fragment encoding the mature part of ?-NGF was amplified using the DNA of human placenta as template. The fragment was sequenced and inserted into expression vector pET-15b, and the recombinant expression vector pET15b-NGF was transformed into E.coli BL21(DE3)pLysS. After inducing with IPTG the NGF was higher expressed up to 25% of the total cell proteins. The expression product was purified with metal chelate affinity chromatography on Ni-IDA agarose under denaturing condition. The purity of rNGF was higher than 90% and yield of rNGF was 4.56mg/L expressing bacteria. SDS-PAGE revealed the NGF expression product had a Mr 16kDa. Western-blot displayed the recombinant product had strong immunological activity with rabbit anti-human ?-NGF polyclonic antibodies. The expression products were dealed with solubilizing inclusion bodies and refolding protein. The test of nerve fiber growth of chicken embryo DRG neurons displayed rNGF had biological activity.

?AIM:To evaluate the incidence and clinical properties of dry eye after phacoemulsification in age-related cataract patients.?METHODS: Samples were collected from 145 age -related cataract patients (145 eyes).Dry eye was analyzed at 0, 7, 30, 90 and 180d after phacoemulsification by 1 ) Ocular Surface Disease Index questionnaire ( OSDI ) , 2 ) tear meniscus height ( TMH ) , 3 ) corneal fluorescein staining, 4) tear film break-up time (BUT), 5)SchirmerⅠtest( SⅠt) .?RESULTS:The symptoms and signs of dry eye, such as narrowing of TMH, shorting of BUT, decreasing of SⅠt, cornea staining by fluorescein, occurred as early as 7d post-phacoemulsification and were measured by OSDI questionnaire and 4 additional clinical tests.Over the six-month observation the severity of dry eye peaked at 30d and then gradually relieved.? CONCLUSION: The severity of dry eye after phacoemulsification peaked at 30d and gradually improved over time. Considering the characteristics of ocular surface for aged people ophthalmologists should pay more concern on evaluating the occurring of dry eye after phacoemulsification so as to improve the life quality of these people.

It is an important task to lab of clinical microbiology to surveille multi-drag or pan-drug resistant strains, such as penicillin-or macrolide-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae,methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA),3rd generation cephalosporin-or quinolone-resistant Enterobacteriaceae, carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa or Acinetobacter baumannii, and so on.We must understand characteristics of these resistant strains to guide doctors' empirical therapy of infective diseases.

A wireless energy transmission system for the MEMS system inside alimentary tracts is reported here in the paper. It consists of an automatic frequency tracking circuit of phase lock loop and phase shift PWM control circuit. Experimental results show that the energy transmission system is capable of automatic frequency-tracking and transmission power-adjusting and has stable received energy.
