OBJECTIVETo evaluate the biomechanics of treatment for lumbar spondlolisthesis using nail-grooved tail steel plate and WDFC (Wendeng Fusion Cage) implant.
METHODSThere were nine permanent waist-sacrum wet bone (L3-S3) in 1 to 2 clay-cold hours including 6 men and 3 women. They were seldom separated into 3 groups, which were fixed by nail-grooved fail plus WDFC. The model was separate into two kinds for single and across. With electrometry, deal experiment date with Graftool software. Each piece should be tested twice respectively.
RESULTSThe single and across segment non-destructive compression experiment. No-mid-compression from 0 to 750 N,the related coefficient and curves had no obvious change on inclined rate. In the single segment curvedly serial experiment, the stress at all point measured by two sides steel plate-was mostly linear growth. In the across segment curvedly serial experiment, the inclined rate become big and appear anisomerous.
CONCLUSIONIt's proved by biomechanics that the steel plates with single furrow and cylinder wing plus WDFC has a good stability to cure lumbar vertebra slips.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effects of S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM) on blood lead concentration and oxidative stress of tissue in prenatal and postnatal lead-exposed rats, and evaluate the potential reparation exerted by SAM on paired-pulse facilitation (PPF) and long-term potentiation (LTP) in lead-exposed rat.
METHODSPregnant Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups: control, lead-exposed and lead-exposed with SAM treatment groups. Lead-exposed rats drank 1.5 g/L lead acetate solution through pregnancy until weaning and then the pups received 20 mg/kg SAM or saline daily intraperitoneally depending on their group. Control group rats drank tap water throughout the experiment. At the postnatal 44-60 days, all the pup rats were given an extracellular recording measured in dentate gyrus (DG) area of hippocampus. The blood lead concentration and oxidative stress in liver, brain and hippocampus were also detected.
RESULTSThe blood lead concentration in lead-exposed group was higher (159. 3 +/- 10. 9 microg/L) in comparing with those of control group (27.5 +/-3.8 microg/L) and lead +SAM group (33.1 +/-9.5 microg/L) (F=213.5, P<0.01). A significant recovery of liver, brain glutathione (GSH) and malondialdehyde (MDA) level was clearly produced in lead-exposed rats after SAM treatment (P <0.05). Chronic lead exposure during development impaired LTP measured on field excitatory postsynaptic potential (EPSP) [(112 +/-2.1)%] compared with control rats [(131+/-4.5)%] and the impaired LTP could be significantly increased by SAM treatment [(120 +/- 2.6)%] (F = 26. 1, P <0. 05).
CONCLUSIONSAM might be beneficial for treatment of lead intoxication, especially in the rescue of learning and memory impairment induced by lead and should deserve more detailed research.

Objective To explore the role of maternal physiology, mentality and prenatal health care on low birth weight (LBW). Methods A LBW-small for gestation age (SGA)-control group retrospective study was conducted based upon a population of infants born from November 2004 to June 2006. 896 cases involved in this study were entirely under voluntary participation and subject could withdraw their consent at any point. All subject recruitment and enrollment took place at Fujian Provincial Maternal and Children Hospital at the time of delivery. Using χ2 test for single factor analysis and logistic regression for multiple analyses Results There were 15 out of 22 single factors having statistical significances, including 2 maternal psychological, 4 physiological, 6 pathological and 3 prenatal health care factors respectively. When multi-factorial stepwise regression analyses was performed, there were 9 factors for main relative factors of LBW ,including women's height, number of prenatal examination, in-normal non-stress test, umbilical cord around the neck, retardation of the umbilical blood flow, week of gestation when the first examination was performed, premature rupture of membrane, preference on the sex of the infant, abnormal family history etc.were influencing the existence of LBW. Awareness on health information appeared to be a protective factor, suggesting that LBW could be prevented during the pregnant period. Conclusion Multiple factors seemed to be contributing to the incidence of low birth weight.

OBJECTIVEThis paper presents the experience in using the reverse buccinator musculomucosal flap for repairing the defect following excising inverted papilloma of the nose.
METHODSAfter the inverted papilloma of the nose was excised through an endonasal approach, the reverse buccinator musculomucosal flap supplied by the retrograde blood flow of the anterior buccal artery was harvested and sutured to the defect through the ora-nasal tunnel. The procedure was performed on three patients.
RESULTSThe postoperative course was uneventful. All the flaps survived completely.
CONCLUSIONSThe technique provides the solution to prevent nasal stricture from cicatricial contracture after excising inverted papilloma. In the operation, excising the inverted papilloma and repairing the defect was performed simultaneously, saving another operation for the secondary deformity. The technique is also applicable to the treatment of existing cicatricial stricture of the nose.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the expressions of TopI gene in small cell lung cancer cell line H446, and explore the influence of TopI on the chemosensitivity of the cell line to topotecan (TPT).
METHODSWestern blot was performed to detect the TopI expression in H446 cells. Lipofectamine 2000 was used for the transient transfection of H446 cells by siRNA, and the transfection efficacy was detected. TopI mRNA was analyzed by quantitative RT-PCR and TopI protein was detected by Western blot to selected effective siRNA. The drug-sensitivity to topotecan (TPT) was evaluated by MTT assay.
RESULTSTopI gene was expressed in H446 cells. Lipofectamine 2000 mediated the siRNA effectively (88.67%). Compared with its parental cells, RT-PCR results showed that TopI mRNAs in transfected cells were reduced by (95.7 +/- 1.6)%, (90.8 +/- 1.6)%, (96.1 +/- 2.7)% and (96.3 +/- 1.8)%, respectively, and decreased significantly at protein level. By MTT assay, the inhibition rate of TPT to H446 cells transfected by siRNA was lower than that of control group at same concentrations (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONsiRNAs can silence the expression of TopI and decrease the drug-sensitivity of H446 cells to TPT.
