AIM: To investigate the clinical value of fundus fluorescein angiography ( FFA ) and optical coherent tomography ( OCT) in the diagnosis of central retinal vein occlusion.
●METHODS:A total of 47 cases (47 eyes) central retinal vein occlusion were retrospectively analyzed from Jun. 2012 to Dec. 2015 in our hospital ophthalmology center. According to the final diagnosis, the results were divided into 21 cases of central retinal artery occlusion ( group CRAO, 21 eyes) and central retinal vein occlusion ( group CRVO, 26 eyes ) . All patients received FFA and OCT examination within 2wk of onset, and the image data of the two kinds of examination results were analyzed.
● RESULTS: Group of patients with CRAO average macular foveola thickness, angle measuring, filling time determination results were significantly lower than that of the patients with CRVO group average and the differences were significant (P<0. 05).
●CONCLUSION:FFA and OCT images of central retinal artery and vein occlusion have their own characteristics, and the combination of these two images can be used to identify and diagnose the central retinal artery and vein occlusion.

Objective To study the effect of glucocorticoid receptor(GCR) on the treatment of patients with nephrotic syndrome(NS) and to observe the accommodation effect of herbal gynostemmae,acanthopanax senticosus harns on GCR levels.Methods The patients were divided into 3 groups: the healthy control group,treatment group Ⅰ(GC only) and treatment group Ⅱ(combination with herbal gynostemmae,acanthopanax senticosus harns and GC),radioligand binding assay was used to measure the GCR levels of each group.At the same time,the urine protein ratio within 24 hours was observed in each group.Results Compared with healthy control group,the GCR levels of treatment group Ⅰ and Ⅱ were both reduced,but after 4 weeks of treatment in the treatment group Ⅱ,not only GCR level recovered but also the urine protein were decreased faster than treatment group Ⅰ.Conclusions Herbal gynostemmae,acanthopanax senticosus harns can accommodate the GCR levels of children with NS.They can also eliminate urine protein and cure NS ideally.

To investigate the angiotensin I-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory activity of beta-chain hemoglobin fragments, 17 fragments were synthesized by microwave-assisted solid-phase synthesis method. Wang resin or Trt(2-Cl) resin, Fmoc and HBTU-HOBt were used as solid carrier, N-terminal amino acid protecting groups and coupling reagents, respectively. The ACE inhibitory, alpha-glucosidase inhibitory, antibacterial and antitumor activities of the synthesized fragments were assayed. In vitro, Val-Val-Tyr-Pro-Trp-Thr showed high ACE inhibitory activity (IC50 = 7.42 micromol x L(-1)). The results indicate that there are two active sites in Val-Val-Tyr-Pro-Trp-Thr-Gln-Arg-Phe, one consists of Val-Val-, and the other -Gln-Arg-Phe. Peptides showed high ACE inhibitory activity when the N-terminal was hydrophobic amino acid such as Val and C-terminal tripeptide contained Phe, Trp or Arg. Some of the fragments showed low a-glucosidase inhibitory activity. No antibacterial activity or antitumor activity was detected in vitro. The results indicate that these peptides have a potential antihypertensive effect and possible application in the treatment of hypertension.

Abstract? AlM: To evaluate the meaning of using optical coherence tomography with enhanced depth imaging ( OCT-EDl ) to measure choroidal thickness of central serous retinopathy ( CSC) .?METHODS: With the retrospective case control study, 65 patients (65 eyes) with CSC and 50 healthy controls (50 eyes ) with age, gender and diopter - matched were recruited in this study. OCT-EDl were used to measure the subfoveal choroidal thickness ( SFCT ) in CSC eyes, the fellow eyes and also the control eyes. Of which 40 of the 65 CSC patients self-cured, 14 of them were treated with photodynamic therapy ( PDT ) , the left 11 accepted the laser photocoagulation ( LP ) . SFCT were measured 3mo after that. Compared with the previous data, the statistical analysis was carried out.?RESULTS: The SFCT value of 65 CSC eyes, 65 fellow eyes and 50 control eyes were 436. 23 ± 89. 50, 389. 45 ± 101. 03 and 329. 36 ± 95. 87μm, respectively. The SFCT of suffer and fellow eyes increased significantly compared to the control eyes ( P = 0. 008 and 0. 013, respectively). There was also significant difference in SFCT between the CSC eyes and the fellow eyes (P=0. 021). The SFCT were significantly decreased after PDT (P=0. 032), but with no significant changes after LP or self-cured ( P=0. 057 and 0. 076, respectively).?CONCLUSlON: OCT-EDl is a useful method to assess the choroidal topographic changes of CSC. The SFCT are significantly increased in the CSC eyes compared with that in the fellow eyes and the control eyes.

In view of the present situation that edible marine shellfishes are combinedly contaminated by different kinds of lipophilic toxins, common lipophilic shellfish toxins in marine shellfishes were simultaneously detected by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, and the safety risk of commercial marine shellfish was evaluated using the risk assessment method based on combined contamination of various toxins. Under the optimum conditions, satisfactory recoveries (63. 3％ - 88. 8％ ), precision ( relative standard deviations RSD≤14. 5％ ) and sensitivity (limit of detection in the range of 0. 5-2. 7 ng / g) of the method were achieved for all the analytes. Among the 105 commercially available shellfish samples, 42. 86％ of the samples had at least a kind of toxin. The highest average content was 47. 6 μg / kg of DTX1, which was the most serious contaminant for marine shellfishes. The total Expose Risk Index (∑ERI) was calculated based on Tolerable Daily Intake (TDI) and Acute Reference Dose (ARfD) of each toxin to evaluate the safety risk of commercial marine shellfish. The results showed that the ratio of commercially available marine shellfish with safety risk was 19. 05％ and the food safety risk of scallop was the highest. In summary, a new method based on the combined contamination of lipophilic shellfish toxins was successfully developed for risk assessment of the commercial marine shellfish. The proposed method is more harsh compared with the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) regulation and can make shellfish consumers better to avoid the risk of poisoning.

AIMTo investigate the effect of sodium ferulate (SF) on glycerol-induced renal injury.

METHODSGlycerol solution 50% was injected intramuscularly to establish a model of acute tubular necrosis in mice. SF was administered intraperitoneally at the dose of 100-200 mg.kg-1 at the beginning of establishing the model and its effect was observed by monitoring renal function, antioxidative functions and renal pathologic histology.

RESULTSAt 6 and 72 h after glycerol injection, SF treatment (100-200 mg.kg-1) showed significant and dose-dependent antagonistic actions on the increment of blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine (Cr), and N-acetyl-beta-glucosaminidase (NAG) induced by glycerol. The increase of renal malondialdehyde (MDA) content and the decrease of glutathione content, glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), glutathione S-transferase (GST), catalase (Cat) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activities resulting from glycerol injection were remarkably inversed by SF at the dose of 200 mg.kg-1. Meanwhile, improvement of the renal histology was observed as well.

CONCLUSIONSF showed beneficial effect on glycerol-induced acute tubular necrosis due to its antioxidative action.

The yeast fusant ZFF-28, which is high in biomass production and rich in selenium, was constructed after mutagenesis and protoplasts fusion between yeast strains. The total selenium content of ZFF-28 is 1.8 and 1.0 times higher than that of the parental strains Saccharomyces cerevisiae ZY-67 and Saccharomyces kluyveri SZY-198 respectively. Using single factor tests and a L16(4(3) x 2(1)) orthogonal design, the cultivation conditions was optimized as: 50mL culture in 250mL shake flasks in molasses containing 6% sugar and 60microg/mL Se at 28 degree C for 25h at 220 r/min, with the initial pH adjusted to 6.0 - 6.5. Under the optimized conditions, the biomass (dry weight) reached 8.2g/L and the Se content of the cells reached 2050microg/g, with organic and inorganic Se contents being 91% and 9% respectively.

AlM:To observe the relationship between axial length and complications of phacoemulsification with intraocular lens ( lOL) implantation in high axial myopia eyes and normal axis eyes.
METHODS: A retrospective review of 843 consecutive patients ( 1 042 eyes ) of cataract extraction with phacoemulsification and lOL implantation in our hospital from February 2012 to February 2013 was performed. The patients were divided into two groups according to the axial length: 853 eyes were in normal axis group ( 21-24mm) and 189 eyes were in high axial myopia group (≥26mm). The two groups were compared regarding surgical complications, such as vitreous loss, posterior capsular rupture, nucleolus drop, and abnormal location of lOL.
RESULTS:Age was a risk factor in both groups. There was positive correlation between age and surgical complications, and between axial length and surgical complications, especially for complications with posterior capsular rupture and vitreous loss.
CONCLUSlON:As the results illustrate, in this survey, age and high axial lengthare statistically significant risk factors for incidence of complications of phacoemulsification. Anticipation of these complications and also preparation and prophylactic measures may decrease incidence of these complications.
