OBJECTIVETo investigate the precise locations of the blood vessels and nerves surrounding the seminal vesicles (SV) in men and provide some anatomical evidence for SV-related minimally invasive surgery.
METHODSWe observed the courses and distribution of the blood vessels and nerves surrounding SVs and obtained the data for positioning the SV neuroplexes in 20 male pelvises.
RESULTSOne branch of the neuroplexes was distributed to the SVs bilaterally with the neurovascular bundles, (2.85 ± 0.18) cm from the median sulcus of the prostate (MSP), while another branch ran through the Denonvillier fascia behind the SV, (0.81 ± 0.06) cm from the MSP. The arterial SVs (ASV) originated from the inferior vesical artery and fell into 4 types, 55% going directly to the SVs as one branch, 15% running between the SV and the ampulla of the deferent duct as another branch, 25% downward as 2 branches to the SV and between the SV and the ampulla of the deferent duct respectively, and 5% as the other ASVs. The shortest distance from the ASV through the prostatic neuroplexus to the posterior SV was (1.08 ± 0.09) cm.
CONCLUSIONIn SV resection, neuroplexus injury can be reduced with a bilateral distance of < 2.85 cm and a posterior distance of < 0.81 cm from the MSP, and so can bleeding by vascular ligation between the SV and the ampulla of the deferent duct.

Objective: The current study was designed to analyze the differentially expressed genes in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) tissue and identify the novel oncogenes and the tumor suppressor genes associated with NPC pathogenesis. Methods: Using the suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH), two SSH pools (normal nasopharyngeal tissue cDNA pool and NPC tissue cDNA pool) were constructed. Positive clones were screened by differential screen technique, and conformed using Southern blot and Northern blot, and sequenced with ABI 377 DNA sequencer. Results: Twelve positive clones were identified from SSH pools. Sequences of the 12 positive clones showed that 8 clones were homologous with the genes published in GenBank and 2 clones were unknown genes. The two novel genes NP5 and NP9 in the normal control cDNA pool were richer than that in the cancerous cDNA pool and NP9 was further found to be down regulated in both NPC cell lines and NPC tissue. Conclusions: The SSH is useful for analysis of the disease related genes and two novel cDNAs were identified to be related with NPC pathogenesis.

BACKGROUNDTo study the relationship of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and T cell lymphoma.
METHODSSixty cases of T cell lymphomas were examined for the presence of EBV using in situ hybridization for EBV encoded RNA (EBERs).
RESULTSEBERs were detected in tumor cells in 37(69.8%) of 53 cases with peripheral T cell lymphoma, but in none of seven cases of precursor T lymphoblastic lymphoma. The total detected EBERs were 37(61.6%) in 60 cases of T cell lymphomas. By Revised European-American Lymphoma(REAL) classification, EBERs were detected in 2/2 angioimmuno-blastic T cell lymphoma,17/18 angiocentric lymphoma, 4/6 anaplastic large cell lymphoma and 14/27 peripheral T cell lymphoma, unspecified (51.9%). The frequency of EBERs among the extranodal peripheral T cell lymphoma was higher than the nodal (P less than 0.01) there was no significant correlation with the sex, age and clinical stage.
CONCLUSIONSThis study indicated that high incidence of EBV was observed in peripheral T cell lymphoma, with predilection for angiocentric lymphoma and extranodal presentation.

OBJECTIVETo identify and assess multiple human papillomavirus types in condyloma acuminatum lesions from patients with genital warts in Beijing area, and compare different features between otherwise healthy and immunosuppressed patients.
METHODSPCR, RFLP and nucleotide sequencing analysis were used to determine HPV types from individual lesions.
RESULTSThe predominant type from other healthy patients was HPV6, secondly HPV11. The mean age of patients infected by HPV6 was lower than that of HPV11 and HPV6 + 11. While lesions from immunosuppressed patients were often contained HPV11 or mixed with HPV6. Besides, HPV types 16 and 53 were detected from infected lesions than other HPV types.
CONCLUSIONSHPV6 was the major pathogen of condyloma acuminatum, but infected patients were at lower ages. While HPV11 was most often detected from immunosuppressed patients. As a low risk virus in normal genital tract, HPV53 also could be a pathogen in genital warts.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect difference of behavior training with head needling retention and behavior training after acupuncture for autism children.
METHODSSixty qualified autism children were divided randomly into simultaneous head needling retention and behavior training group (trial group) and behavior training after acupuncture treatment group (control group) with 30 case in each group. Retention needles on the head with simultaneous behavior training was applied for the trial group. The main acupoints included Sishen Xue, Dingshen Sanxue (3 points for mental tranquilization), Nao Sanxue (3 points for the function of brain), Shou Zhisanxue (3 points for mental activities on hand) and Zozhi Sonxue (3 points for mental activities on foot). Other points were combined according to conditions of patients. Needles on the 4 extremities were withdrawn first after 30 minutes, needles on head were remained during behavior training. While behavior training was applied to the control group when acupuncture treatment was completely accomplished. Treatments were applied once a day to both groups. And 3 months was taken as one observation cycle. Estimation was made on therapeutic effect and developing level of autism children with CARS and PEP.
RESULTSThe total effective rate of the trial group was 83.3% (25/30), better than 66.7% (20/30) of the control group (P < 0.05). The CARS scores of both groups declined after the treatment. And the score of trail group was lower than the control group (all P < 0.05). While the PEP scores of both groups increased, and the score of trail group was higher than the control group (all P < 0.05). The increasing level of scores of cognitive understanding and cognitive expression were all better than the control group (all P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe effect of behavior training with head needle retention on autism children is better than behavior training after acupuncture treatment, especially in enhancing cognition understanding and cognition expression.
