Dried roots and rhizomes of Salvia miltiorrhiza (Danshen) are among the most commonly used traditional Chinese medicines in clinic. The material basis for its efficacy mainly includes hydrophobic tanshinones and hydrophilic salvianolic acids. The traditional effects of Danshen are "removing stasis and relieving pain, activating blood to promote menstruation, clearing heart fire and tranquilization". According to modern pharmacological studies, Danshen and its main components have cardiovascular and cerebrovascular protective effect. Recent studies showed that Danshen and its main components also demonstrated protective effects on liver injury models induced by carbon tetrachloride, D-galactosamine, acetaminophen and alcohol. In this paper, the hepatoprotective effect and mechanism of Danshen were summarized and studied.

The diethyl sulfate (DES) mutagenesis was chosen for the mutagenic treatment to Phellinus igniarius, and the relationship of mutagenesis time and death rate was investigated with 0.5% DES. The differences of mycelial growth speed, liquid fermentation mycelia biomass, morphology and pigment classes of secondary metabolites production speed and antioxidant activities of metabolite products were discussed. The study displayed that DES mutagenesis could change mycelial morphology without obvious effect on mycelium growth, and the DES mutagenesis improved antioxidant activities of the active ingredients of P. igniarius and had more antioxidant activity of hypoxia/sugar PC12 nerve cells than that of P. igniarius.

Objective To retrospectively investigate the causes , location and the duration of hospital stays of the hospitalized patients with hard-to-heal wounds so as to provide data guidance for the prevention and research of these diseases. Methods Clinical data of hospitalized patients with hard-to-heal wounds in plastic surgery center of General Hospital of Guangzhou Military Command were collected from June , 2011 to December, 2013. Whether ulceration was recovered in the patients with skin tissue defect after 2 months treatment was regarded as the standard to screen the patients with hard-to-heal wounds. The causes , location, age and the duration of hospital stays of the hospitalized patients with hard-to-heal wounds were investigated by retrospective case-control method. Chi-square test and t-test were used in analyzing the investigation. Results 2 136 cases, aged from 20 to 86, were treated in plastic surgery center of the hospital. 120 cases have hard-to-heal wounds, which constituted 5.62% of all hospitalized patients. (1) Metabolic disease was the main causes of wound (43.3%), followed by wound infection and tumor (20.0% for each) (χ2 = 62.917, P < 0.01). ( 2 ) The peak age for patients with hard-to-heal wounds was 40 to 60 years old patients , followed by patients′age from 60 to 80 years. (3) The mostly like hard-to-heal wounds was on limbs (61.6%), especially on the foot (38.3%) (χ2 = 17.546, P = 0.002). (4) The average days for hospitalization of in the plastic surgery center were (7.41 ± 8.98), while the average days for hospitalization of the patients with years were (33.21 ± 28.27)(t = -9.968, P < 0.05). Conclusion The average diagnostic age of patients with hard-to-heal wounds is the middle and old aged patients. Chronic skin ulcers, which often occurs in a limb, seriously affects a person′s ability to move , which can prolong hospital stays , causing serious burden for the families of patients and the society.

Chinese Journal of Clinical and Experimental Pathology 2017;33(1):31-34
Purpose To study the clinicalpathologic features, diagnosis, differential diagnosis and prognosis of cervical adenoid basal carcinoma (ABC) for improving further recognition and avoiding the likelihood of unnecessarily aggressive treatment to this disease. Methods Clinical presentations and pathological features of 4 cases of cervical ABC were analyzed by hematoxylin and eosin staining, immunohistochemical EnVision staining and in situ hybridization technology. The relevant literatures were reviewed. Results The age of 4 cases with cervical ABC ranged from 53 to 67 years (mean:61.5 years). All of the 4 patients underwent hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy.Microscopically,the tumors were composed of small,well-differentiated and uniform basaloid cells and the tumor cells formed rounded nests or cords. The tumor cells arranged in palisading at the periphery of the nests. Some of the nests had central cystic spaces and there may also be focal glandular or squamous differentiation in the centre of the nests.Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) lesions were observed in all 4 cases.Immunohistochemically, all the tumor cells were negative for CK7,ER,CEA,CD117 and S-100,while CK5/6,CK8/18,CK19,p16,p53,BCL-2 and p63 were positive.HPV 16/18 DNA were positive by in situ hybridization. The patients remained alive without recurrence and metastasis after follow-up 19 to 62 months. Conclusion ABC of the uterine cervix is a rare neoplasm with excellent prognosis.Differentiation of ABC from adenoid cystic carcinoma, basaloid squamous carcinoma, neuroendocrine carcinoma and adenosquamous carcinoma is important due to their different prognosis.Treatment is predominantly hysterectomy or laser electrocantery excision procedure (Leep).Radiotherapy or chemotherapy is not recommeded.
