1.Analysis of tongue figure features in 990 cases of sexually transmitted and intravenous drug use spread HIV infected population in Xinjiang.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the tongue manifestation features of sexually transmitted and intravenous drug use spread HIV infected population in Xinjiang.
METHODSRecruited were 990 HIV infected subjects in Xinjiang from May 2011 to March 2012, who were assigned to the intravenous drug use spread HIV infected (498 cases) and the sexually transmitted (492 cases). By using tongue figure shoot combined with analyses of experts, tongue manifestations were analyzed and compared between the sexually transmitted and the intravenous drug use spread from four aspects, i.e., the tongue color, the tongue shape, the fur color, and the fur property.
RESULTSCompared with the sexually transmitted population, red tongue, fissured tongue, yellow fur, thick fur, eroded fur, deficiency of fur fluid were more often seen, showing statistical difference (P < 0.05). Compared with the intravenous drug use spread population, pale tongue, white fur, and thin fur were more often seen, showing statistical difference (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSThe tongue manifestations of the intravenous drug use spread HIV population reflected inner exuberance of evil toxin and heat impairing qi and yin. Compared with the intravenous drug use spread population, the attack of HIV infection was more hiding in the sexually transmitted population, with milder internal injury. Their Wei-qi was not damaged and no obvious change occurred in the tongue figure.

2.The effect of ultraviolet irradiation on the biocompatibility of Medpor.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of ultraviolet ( UV) irradiation on the biocompatibility of Medpor.
METHODSThe Medpor implant, 2 mm in thickness, was divided into several pieces with the size of 1 cm x 1 cm. 12 Japanese big ear rabbits were divided into experimental (n=6) and control group (n=6). The 1 cm x 1 cm auricular cartilage defects were made in each rabbit ear. Then the defects were repaired with UV-treated Medpor implants in experimental group, and Medpor implants in control group. The levels of the total hemolytic complement (CH50) were measured 3 d hefore operation, and 1, 3, 7, 14, 21, 30, 60, 90 d after operation. The wound healing was observed. 90 d after operation, the animals were killed to get the specimens for gross observation and histologic examination. The change of CH50 level after operation was significantly different between the two groups ( P < 0.05) . The CH50 level was comparatively stable in experimental group. Compared with control group, the local inflammatory reaction was not obvious in experimental group. A great amount of tissue, including big vessels was growing into the mini-pores of Medpor, resulting a close combination between the implant and surrounding tissue.
CONCLUSIONIt suggests that ultraviolet irradiation can improve the biocompatibility of Medpor and promote the wound recovery.

3.Antiviral effects of the combination of glycyrrhizin and ribavirin against influenza A H1N1 virus infection in vivo.

Ribavirin is a broad-spectrum antiviral agent and glycyrrhizin has activities of anti-inflammation, immunoregulation and anti-viral infections. To enhance antiviral efficacy and weaken side-effects of ribavirin, antiviral effects of the combination of glycyrrhizin and ribavirin were studied in the present study. Firstly, a mouse model of viral pneumonia was established by inoculation of influenza H1N1 virus. Protective effects of glycyrrhizin and ribavirin used alone or in combination against H1N1 virus infection in mice were evaluated based on the survival rate, lung index and virus titer in lungs of mice. Results showed that the combination of glycyrrhizin and ribavirin significantly inhibited the lung consolidation with a 36% inhibition ratio on the lung swell of infected mice. The combination of the two drugs exhibited synergetic effects on survival of infected mice. The combination of 50 mg · kg(-1) · d(-1) glycyrrhizin and 40 mg · kg(-1) · d(-1) ribavirin resulted a 100% protection for infected mice with a synergetic value of 36, which was significantly higher than the control group and each drug alone. This combination also resulted a significant drop of lung virus titer (P < 0.01), as well as inhibition on the production of proinflammatory cytokines IL-6 (P < 0.01), TNF-α (P < 0.01) and IL-1β (P < 0.05) induced by virus infection compared to the control. The treatment of ribavirin plus glycyrrhizin was more effective in influenza A infection in mice than either compound used alone, which suggested a potential clinical value of the combination of the two agents.

4.Role of heme oxygenase-1/carbon monoxide in hypoxic-ischemic brain damage in neonatal rats

Objective To observe the changes of brain heme oxygenase-1/carbon monoxide (HO-1/CO)in neonatal rats with hypoxic-ischemic brain damage(HIBD)injury and investigate the role of HO-1/CO in the recovery of HIBD. Methods Eighteen 7-day-old Wistar rats were randomly divided into sham-operated group,HIBDgroup and HIBDwith zinc protoporphyrin(ZnPP)treatment group (n=6).In the latter two groups,HIBD model was established by unilateral carotid ligation followed by timed exposure to 8%oxygen. Real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR Was performed to determine the expression of HO-1 mRNA and thiobarbituric acid(TBA)method was used to assay malondialdehyde (MDA)contentinthe braintissue of the rats.The cell apoptosis in the brain aRer HIBD was analyzed using flow cytometry,and the blood CO concentration was detected by the absorbance at 420mn and 432 nm.Results Compared to the sham-operated group.HO-1 mRNA expression and blood CO concentration were significantly increased in HIBD group and ZnPP group (P<0.05).The rats with ZnPP group had significantly lower HO-1 mRNA expression and blood CO concentration than those in HIBD group(P<0.05).HIBD resultedin significantly increased MDA content and cell apoptosis rate in the rat brain as compared to those in the sham-operated group(p<0.05),and ZnPP treatment further increased the MDA content and cell apoptosis(P<0.05). Conclusions Increased brain HO-1 mRNA expression and blood CO concentration in neonatal rats with HIBD are probably associated with the spontaneous recovery of neural tissue injury.
5.Dynamic accumulation analysis on bioactive constituents of Polygonum multiflorum in different collection periods.

To study the dynamic change law of bioactive constituents from Polygonum multiflorum, and to explore the optimal harvest period of P. multiflorum. Determination of stilhene glucoside, anthraquinones and catechin from P. multiflorum in different harvest times by MEKC-DAD, and principal component analysis (PCA) was used to comprehensive evaluation for bioactive constituents. There are obvious differences among the contents of active ingredients in various collecting periods samples, the content of stilbene glucoside was the highest in November, the total content of combined anthraquinone was the highest in November and December, the content of catechin was the highest in September. The comprehensive evaluation index obtained with principal component analysis showed that the sample collected in November is significantly higher than those with other samples. The optimal harvest period of P. multiflorum is November.

6.The regulatory effects of arginine on hepatic insulin-like growth factor-1 secretion in rats and its implication.

OBJECTIVETo explore the regulatory effect of arginine on the secretion of hepatic insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-I), and the mechanism of enhancing the immune function by arginine.
METHODSWistar rats were randomly divided into normal control (NC), wound control (WC), and wound with arginine (Arg) groups, with 8 rats in each group. The rats in WC and Arg groups were inflicted with soft tissue trauma on the back. The rats in Arg group were fed a diet supplemented with 5% arginine for one week, while those in NC and WC groups were fed with glycine. The serum contents of arginine, ornithine, growth factor (GH), NO and IGF-I were determined 7 days after feeding. T cell proliferation and IGF-I mRNA expression in hepatic tissue were also measured. Meanwhile, the rat hepatocytes were cultured in serum-free medium containing different concentrations of arginine. The supernatant was collected for the determination of IGF-I level.
RESULTS1). There was no obvious difference of the serum level of arginine and ornithine between NC and WC groups (P > 0.05), but the contents of them were obviously higher in the Arg group compared with other two groups (P < 0.01). 2). No difference in the serum GH level was found among all the groups (P > 0.05), but the serum NO content in WC and Arg groups was significantly lower than that in NC group (P < 0.01), and the serum IGF-I content in WC group decreased obviously compared with that in NC group (P < 0.01). 3). The thymocyte proliferation rate in WC group was also markedly lower than that in NC group (P < 0.01), but that in Arg group was improved compared with WC group (P < 0.01). 4). The expression of hepatic IGF-I mRNA: The relative value of IGF-I mRNA was 1.19 +/- 0.06, 1.08 +/- 0.06 and 1.29 +/- 0.06 in NC, WC and Arg, respectively, while the value in WC was lower than that in NC (P < 0.05) group, and that in Arg group was much higher than that in WC group (P < 0.01). 5). The IGF-I level in the supernatant of cultured hepatocytes: When Arg concentration was 0.0750, 0.7500, 7.5000 mmol/L in the culture medium, the IGF-I level in the supernatant of hepatic cell medi-um was obviously higher than that in the medium without arginine (P < 0.01). Although IGF-I level decreased in the culture medium with arginine in the dose of 37.5000 mmol/L, it was still obviously higher than that in the medium without arginine (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONArginine could also produce the immune enhancing effect by stimulating hepatic IGF-I secretion.

OBJECTIVESTo evaluate the relationship between the functional integrity of sperm membrane and seminal parameters related to CASA.
METHODSThirty-eight fertile and one hundrend and twenty four infertile males were tested the functional integrity of sperm membrane by the kit and parameters by CASA.
RESULTSThere was a significant difference in the functional integrity of sperm membrane between fertile and infertile group (P < 0.01). The items related to CASA between normal and abnormal group in the functional integrity of sperm membrane had a remarkable difference, except motion degree, seminal volume and pH.
CONCLUSIONSTo determine the functional integrity of sperm membrane can be used as a necessary supplementary method for CASA, and it has clinical significance in diagnosing, treating and researching male infertility.

8.Change of extracellular ascorbic acid in the brain cortex following ice water vestibular stimulation: an on-line electrochemical detection coupled with in vivo microdialysis sampling.

BACKGROUNDAscorbic acid (AA) represents one of the most important enzyme co-factors, antioxidants and neuromodulators and plays an important role in the cerebral system. Increasing evidence has suggested that AA could treat certain kinds of vertigo diseases such as Meniere's disease. To elucidate the neurochemical functions associated with AA in vertigo, the change of extracellular AA in the brain cortex following caloric vestibular stimulation (CVS) was evaluated.
METHODSAn on-line electrochemical detection was coupled with in vivo microdialysis to continuously monitor the change of extracellular AA in the primary somatosensory (SI) area of guinea pigs following a caloric vestibular stimulation. Sixteen guinea pigs were divided into three groups, i.e., experimental group with irrigation of the ear canal with ice water (0 degrees C) (n = 8), and two control groups, one with irrigation of the ear canal with warm water (38 degrees C) (n = 4) and the other with irrigation of the auricle with ice water (n = 4).
RESULTSIn the experimental group, the ice water irrigation of the left external ear canal induced a horizontal nystagmus towards the right side lasting about 45 seconds. No nystagmus was induced by warm water irrigation of the external ear canal or by ice water irrigation of the auricle. The extracellular AA concentration significantly increased following the ice water vestibular stimulation, reaching a maximum of (130 +/- 20)% (n = 8) of the basal dialysate level (2.61 +/- 0.92) micromol/L (n = 8), lasting at least for an hour. AA level did not change distinctly after the irrigation of the left external ear canal with warm water or the irrigation of the auricle with ice water.
CONCLUSIONSThe concentration of extracellular AA in the brain cortex of the SI area increased following the ice water vestibular stimulation. This demonstration may be useful for the investigation of the neurochemical processes associated with AA in the process of vertigo.

9.SHENG MAI ZHUSHEYE improves the viability and movement parameters of human sperm in vitro.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of SHENG MAI ZHUSHEYE on the movement parameters and viability of human sperm in vitro.
METHODSWe collected sperm samples from 33 normal fertile men, divided each into two, and cultured them in vitro with SHENG MAI ZHUSHEYE + Hams-F10 and Hams-F10 alone, respectively. Then we measured the straight line velocity (VSL), curvilinear velocity (VCL), average path velocity (VAP) and the amplitude of lateral head displacement (ALH) of the sperm by computer-aided semen analysis at 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8 and 12 h. And the sperm viability was detected.
RESULTSVCL was significantly higher at 8 h (P < 0.05) and very significantly higher at 12 h (P < 0.01) in the SHENG MAI ZHUSHEYE + Hams-F10 group than in the Hams-F10 group. VSL, VAP and ALH were significantly increased in the former group at 4, 8 and 12 h as compared with the latter (P < 0.05). The sperm viability was significantly decreased in the Hams-F10 group at 12 h (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSHENG MAI ZHUSHEYE can improve sperm movement parameters and increase sperm viability in vitro.

10.Curative effect and safety of L-carnitine combined with alprostadil for patients with diabetic nephropathy

Objective To explore the curative effect and safety of L-carnitine combined with alprostadil for patients with diabetic nephropathy.Methods 102 patients with diabetic nephropathy were enrolled in hospital of Inner Mongolia normal university from August 2013 to December 2016,of which patients divided into two groups randomly,control group (n =50) accepted alprostadil treatment,and combined group (n =52) adopted L-camitine based on the patients in control group.The blood glucose and renal functions were detected respectively after treatment.And the curative effect was evaluated and compared between two groups;The adverse reactions were recorded and analyzed in the period of treatment.Results After treatment,the FBP,2 h BG,24 h uPro,BUN,Scr and β2-MG of patients in two groups were decreased significantly (P < 0.05),and the change of combined group was higher than those control group significantly (P < 0.05).After treatment,the total efficiency of combined group was higher than that patients in control group (P < 0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions of control group in the period of treatment was 20.0% (10/50),and combined group was 5.8% (3/52),and which difference from two groups was no significance.Conclusions L-carnitine combined with alprostadil for patients with diabetic nephropathy deserved popularization in clinic,and which not only possessed remarkable curative effect,but also well controlled the blood glucose level,improved the renal function,decreased the incidence of adverse reactions certainly.
