This paper is to build a finite element model of brain with a real brain shapeon which simulation studies of electrical impedance tomography EIT in the brain is based. A curve of a real brain shape is simulated with the curve-fitting methods and EIT in the brain is finished with finite-element methods and Equipotential Lines Back-Projection algorithm.The locationarea and amplitude of the change of the resistivity are reconstructed accurately. But the image quality has to be further improved.This paper provides a basis for clinical applications of EIT in brain.

Chinese journal of integrative medicine 2009;15(2):156-160
Inonotus obliquus has high nutritional and medicinal value, especially in treating malignant tumors, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and AIDS, attracting significant attention from scholars in recent years. In this paper, the biological characteristics, chemical composition and pharmacologic effects of Inonotus obliquus were summarized. And the applications in medicine and food were introduced. Future research on Inonotus obliquus was also discussed in order to make Inonotus obliquus obtain effective exploitation and satisfy people's demands.

OBJECTIVETo express and purify Schistosoma japonicum ribosomal protein S4(SjRPS4) in Escherichia coli, and assess its value in immunodiagnosis of Schistosomiasis japonica.
METHODSGene fragment of SjRPS4 was amplified by screening the cercaria cDNA library of Schistosoma japonicum. The target gene was cloned into the expressive vector pQE30 and transformed into E. coli M15. The recombinant protein expression was induced by isopropylthio-β-D-galactoside (IPTG). This fusion protein was purified by Ni(2+)-NTA chromatography and identified by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), Western blot and ELISA.
RESULTSThe plasmid pQE30/SjRPS4 was constructed successfully and expressed a SjRPS4 fusion protein in E. coli as showing a single special band on SDS-PAGE gel at Mr 30 × 10(3) position. It reached a purity of above 90% after purification. The Western blot result confirmed that the recombinant protein could specifically react with the serum samples from patients of schistosomiasis. Detecting the serum of Schistosomiasis japonica patients by ELISA, the sensitivity and specificity of the ELISA method were 90.91% (70/77) and 92.59% (25/27), the positive rate of recombinant protein expression was 67.30% (70/104). There was no cross-reaction with paragonimiasis patients' serum.
CONCLUSIONProtein SjRPS4 was successfully cloned and expressed, and it was confirmed that SjRPS4 antibodies were valuable in the diagnosis of Schistosomiasis japonica.

OBJECTIVETo explore the mechanism of EA in treatment of acute pancreatitis.
METHODSTwenty-four healthy male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 3 groups, a control group, a model group and an EA group. In the model group, rat acute pancreatitis model was prearpared by intraperitoneal injection of Caerulein, and in the EA group, EA was given at "Zusanli" (ST 36) and "Tianshu" (ST 25) of the model rat. The gastric emptying rate, small intestinal impelling ratio, myeloperoxidase activity in the pancreas tissue, pathological score of the pancreas and serum amylase were detected.
RESULTSCompared with the control group, both the gastric emptying rate and the intestinal impelling ratio significantly decreased in the model group (P<0.05), and they significantly increased in the EA group compared with the model group (P<0.05). Myeloperoxidase activity in the pancreas tissue, pathological score of the pancreas and serum amylase activity significantly decreased in the EA group as compared with the model group (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONEA can significantly improve the disturbance of gastrointestinal motility induced by acute pancreatitis and relieve pathological damage of pancreas.

OBJECTIVETo investigate effects of two kinds of anti-cancer bioactive peptide (ACBP) on proliferation and cell cycle in human nasopharyngeal carcinoma strain CNE.
METHODSCell culture was used in vitro, CNE cells were exposed to different concentration ACBP, in all groups, contrast groups were set up. And 24, 48, 72 hours later, growth characteristics of CNE cells were studied by morphological observation and MTT assay . Cell cycle and apoptosis were analyzed by flow cytometry (FCM).
RESULTSIn normal contrast group, CNE cells grew intensively and contacted with each other. However, cells which were treated with ACBP were inhibitory greatly in higher dose ACBP group, necrosis could be found. MTT assay showed that ACBP inhibited growth of CNE cell. FCM showed that ACBP (20.0 microg/ml) could raise cell ratio of S phase and induce apoptosis of CNE cells. CNE cells were treated by two kind of ACBP (5.0 microg/ml) for 24 h, FCM showed that early apoptosis rate were (11.8 +/- 0.3)% and (8.1 +/- 0.2)% respectively, which showed statistical significance in comparison with control group (t = 42.535, 47.300 respectively, P = 0.000). Under light microscope, some sings of cell apoptosis including coagulation of chromatin, fragmentation of nuclei and apoptotic body could be found.
CONCLUSIONSTwo kinds of ACBP inhibited human nasopharyngeal carcinoma strain CNE proliferation and arrested the cells to S phase, also induced the cells to apoptosis. Nasopharyngeal neoplasms;
