Chinese Journal of Medical Aesthetics and Cosmetology 2001;0(03):-
40 years and lower in person with epicanthal fold. Most of this skin fold were parallel double eyelid and this skin fold did not appear in two side eyes constantly. Even though this skin fold was in two side, eyes were not always symmetry. Conclusion The double eyelids person with skin fold between double eyelids line and palpebral edge is a common aesthetic phenomenon and accepted by the people.
2.Symmetrical wrinkles eliminated unequilly after injection of botulinum A toxin
Chinese Journal of Medical Aesthetics and Cosmetology 2001;0(05):-
Objective To study the adverse reaction of botulinum A t oxin (BTXA) treatment for wrinkles. Methods The adverse r eactions were observed after injection of BTXA. Results No serious or general adverse reactions occurred. As wrinkle eliminated with muscle s relaxing, and muscles relaxation could result in some adverse reactions such a s brow movement weakness. When forehead wrinkles were eliminated baggy blepharop tosis became more serious. Some symmetry wrinkles in two side of face could not equally eliminated. After administration of botulinum A toxin treatment, the wri nkle-like groove could be improved significantly but the groove still remained. The adverse reaction often continued for 1~2 weeks, and the wrinkle recurred 3 ~ 7 months after the botulinum A toxin treatment. Conclusion U sing botulinum A toxin to treat wrinkle is safe and effective, and the adverse reaction is local, slight and transient.

Objective To observe the acute toxic reaction and death of mice one day after intragastric administration of Baicalin capsule so as to appraise its safety. Methods The ICR mice were intragastrically administered with Baicalin powder in capsule at maximum concentration. There was no death of mice found and no LD_ 50 detected after administration. Hence the maximum dosage was identified. Results The maximum dosage of Baicalin powder is 15g/kg. Conclusions The Baicalin capsule is relatively safe.

Objective To observe the effect of emodin capsule on constipation model mice caused by diphenoxylate and compare it with the effect of Rhubarb & sodium bicarbonate tablet. Methods The ICR mice were divided into 6 groups as blank control group, diphenoxylate model group, emodin 25mg/kg,50mg/kg,100mg/kg group, and Rhubarb & sodium bicarbonate tablet 500mg/kg group. The blank control group and model group were given distilled water intragastrically while the rest 4 groups were given certain doses. The time of first dark stool defecation and 6-hour defecation quantity of each mouse were observed and recorded. The total weight of stool was weighed. Results The time of first dark stool defecation of the model group is markedly longer than that of control group (P

Objective To investigate the cell cycle and mechanisms of HCC Bel-7404 cell line by treatment of extract of centipede ( ECP). Method Bel-7404 cell line was cultured in vitro. ECP was applied to the interference of the growth of Bel-7404 with different drug concentration. Cell cycles and apoptosis ratios of ECP group were detected by flow cytometry (FCM). To investigate the expression of apop-tosis related genes XIAP and Bax, we also detect HCC Bel-7404 cell line after 48 hours treated with ECP by immunohistochemical method. Result The results of FCM displayed that ECP in treatment group mainly retard cell cycle phase in G0/G1 after 48 hours. The ratios of G0/ G1 .proliferation index (PI) and apoptosis ratios were significantly different between treatment group and control group when the concentrations were different. It was also significantly different between treatment group and control group when the same concentration of ECP was used. It showed that XIAP gene expression decreased gradually while Bax gene expression increased with the increase of ECP concentration, and these were statistical significance in contrast to control group ( P <0.05). Conclusion ECP mainly retarded cell cycle phase of Bel-7404 in G0/G1, suppressed the proliferation, and could induce it to apoptosis. The inhibitory effect was time - concentration dependent. The mechanisms were due to promote Bax gene and inhibit XIAP gene expression in HCC Bel-7404 cell line.

To investigate the serum level changes of tumor related factors in patients with mechanical trauma and with acute inflammation, and to inquire into the possible reason and its clinical significance, TSGF level was detected on day 1, 3 and 12 after trauma or inflammation in 60 patients with mechanical trauma (39 with mild trauma and 21 with severe trauma) and 37 patients with acute inflammation, while 40 healthy persons were selected as the normal control group. TSGF serum level was significantly higher in patients with trauma and with infectious inflammation than that in normal control group on day 1 and day 3( P 0 05).The results suggest that TSGF is related with the recovery of trauma and inflammatory response.

Objective To investigate the value of prenatal ultrasound in diagnosis and treatment of twin reverse arterial perfusion (TRAP) syndrome. Methods A retrospective study was performed in 5 TRAP cases, including ultrasound images, clinical data and pregnancy outcomes. The sonographic characteristics were summarized. Results Five TRAP cases were diagnosed during 13 to 28 weeks' gestation and confirmed after birth. Color Doppler unltrasonography revealed retrograde umbilical artery perfusion towards acardiac twin. Two of 5 cases ended up in induced abortion, 1 in spontaneous abortion, 1 was delivered at 37 weeks' gestation after ultrasound-guided feticide of the acardiac twin and 1 was monitored closely with ultrasound and delivered alive at 32~(+4) weeks' gestation. Conclusion Prenatal ultrasonography has great applicative value for TRAP syndrome in early diagnosis, choosing optimal treatment and prognosis assessment.

Objective To observe the influence of dexamethasone on the gene expression profiling of PBMCs from patients with internal heat due to Yin deficiency-type SLE. Methods The PBMCs from 3 patients with internal heat due to Yin deficiency-type SLE were incubated with dexamethasone of 10-6 g/L for 48 hours followed by the detection of gene expression profiling of PBMCs by a GeneChip. Results The incubation with dexamethasone upregulated the expressions of 85 genes and downregulated those of 126 genes in PBMCs from the SLE patients. Conclusions Dexamethasone can regulate the expressions of numerous clusters of genes in PBMCs from patients with internal heat due to Yin deficiency-type SLE, and functional proteins encoded by these genes are located at various organelles and regions of cells. Not all the results of gene regulation by dexamethasone favor the relief of SLE. To study the regulation of genes may be beneficial to the elucidation of mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effect of dexamethasone on SLE.

OBJECTIVETo detect the heterogeneity of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) in black and white hair of patients with type 2 diabetes.
METHODSMtDNA was extracted from the hair shaft of the patients to amplify two target DNA fragment from mtDNA coding region and control region using PCR. The differences in the heterogeneity in the target DNA fragment was analyzed between diabetic patients and the control group with denaturing high-performance liquid chromatography (DHPLC).
RESULTSIn the control subjects and diabetic patients, the mtDNA heterogeneity in the black hair was 3% and 10% in 20-45 year-old groups and 9% and 17% in 45-70 year-old groups, as compared to 9%, 20%, 21%, and 40% in the white hair, respectively. The mtDNA heterogeneity in the black and white hair was both higher in the diabetic patients than in the control subjects of the same age group, and was also higher in older age subgroups in both control and diabetic groups (P<0.05). The white hair mtDNA showed a significantly higher heterogeneity than the black hair mtDNA in the two age groups of diabetic patients and in 45-70 year-old control group (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe mtDNA heterogeneity in the hair increases in type 2 diabetic patients and show an association with aging.
