Purpose:To study the clinical and pathological characteristics of multicentric angiofollicular lymph node hyperplasia (MCD).Methods:Eight patients with histologic diagnosis of angiofollicular lymph node hyperplasia (CD) were identified in the pathologic data base. The lymph node lesions were categorized as PC,Mix and HV types according to the criteria described by Frizzera. Patient with MCD had to have histology of CD within at least one regional group of lymph nodes and all underwent extensive lymphadenectomy. Results:The histologic features of 8 patients were six with PC,one with Mix and one with HV.Five patients presented with systemic symptoms. Three patients had splenomegaly and hapatomegaly. Five patients had local recurrence. Conclusions:MCD tends to recur and has a progressive clinical course with potential for malignancy ,and further study is needed to clarify the pathogenesis. Close follow-up and periodic surveillance are necessary to detect minimal disease and secondary malignant lesions. The patients with MCD should be candidates for multimodality therapy.

Objective To study the clinico-pathological features of primary adrenal lymphoma (PAL). Methods 2 cases of PAL were reviewed and studied. Results The age of the 2 patients was 45 and 57.The presenting symptoms were nonspecific.Histologically, the neoplasm was composed of numerous medium-sized cells with round nucleus, usually 1-2 in number and with relatively abundant basophilic cytoplasm. The neoplastic cells showed frequent mitosis.Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells were strongly positive for LCA,L26 and CD74 while negative for UCHL-1,S-100 protein and CK. One case was discharged 3 months after operation because of dyscrasia and the other was lost on follow up.Prognosis of PAL was poor. Conclusions PAL is extremely rare with a high grade of malignancy. The diagnosis could be made on histopathological studies and immunohistochemical studies.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma with highly heterogeneous clinical course. How to recognize patients with high risk is coming into the focus of the 57th American Society of Hematology (ASH) annual meeting. The International Prognostic Index (IPI) score as a classic prognostic system is challenged by variety of new prognosis systems. The tumor microenvironment plays an important role in progression of lymphoma, and its prognostic value draw much more attention. The value of PET-CT for prognosis of DLBCL has also been affirmed in this meeting.

With accelerated population aging, traditional pension mode cannot adapt the diversified medical and nursing requirements of the elders. Therefore, it should reposition the function of medical service in pension career and encourage combining medical service with pension service. Through the methods of setting medical insti-tutions in pension institutions with conditions, developing social pension service in medical institutions, pension in-stitutions cooperating with medical institutions, both professional medical service and basic pension service would be offered to the elders, and thus to realize the integration of medical and nursing resources and to improve health con-dition of the elders.

Objective This report investigate the intervention effect of the water extract of Alpinia oxyphylla Miq. fruit (AOF)on memory impairment and the mechanism in cerebral ischemia rats. Methods 48 Rats were randomly divided into sham-operated group(n=12), ischemia group(n=12), AOF group Ⅰ( n= 12)and AOF group Ⅱ (n= 12). The model of transient cerebral ischemic/reperfusion was made by bilateral occlusion of common carotid arteries in rats and combination with reducing blood pressure with an abdominal injection of so-dium nitroprusside. Learning-memory ability was observed by step through test. The content of NO and the activi-ties of NOS were measured in hippocampus. Results In step through test, the latency in ischemia group[(143.8±65.2)s]significantly decreased, the number of errors (8.9±4.2 ) significantly increased compared with sham-operated group [latency: (257.2±67.1 ) s; number of errors: (1.7±1.1 ), P<0.01 ]. The latency in AOF group Ⅰ and AOF group Ⅱ[(186.5±46.2) s, (193.4±43.7 ) s ] significantly increased, the number of errors (6.1±2.9,5.2±2.1 ) significantly decreased compared with ischemia group(P<0.05, P<0.01). In hippocampus, the content of NO and the activities of NOS in ischemia group [(56.53±27.42) nmol/mg prot, (17.23±5.64) nmol/mg prot] significantly increased compared with sham-operated group[ (40.02±17.9 ) nmol/mg prot, ( 10.46±6.15)nmol/mg prot], and in AOF group Ⅰ and AOF group Ⅱ [content of NO:group Ⅰ (46.60 ±20. 26)nmol/mg prot, group Ⅱ (42.38±21.23) nmol/mg prot ;activities of NOS:group Ⅰ (13.98±5.13 ) nmol/mg pint, group Ⅱ(13.61±5.27) nmol/mg prot] significantly decreased compared with ischemia group(P<0.05). Conclu-sion AOF could significantly ameliorate the memory impairment in cerebral ischemic rats. Its effects may be in-volved in the decrease of content of NO and activities of NOS in hippocampus.

Objective To investigate the effects of propofol anesthesia on cognitive function of aged rats. Methods Ninety-six male aged SD rats (16 months) were collected and given propofol anesthesia via tail vein catheter. At 7, 30, and 90 d after anesthesia, fear conditioning experiment was performed to test long-term memory of the aged rats (12 rats at each time point, total 36 rats). At 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 d after anesthesia, spontaneous alternation in Y-maze experiment was performed to test spatial working memory of the aged rats (12 rats at each time point, total 60 rats). Results There were no statistical differences in long-term memory at 7, 30, and 90 d after anesthesia between the propofol group and control group (P>0.05). While spatial working memory of aged rats in propofol group was impaired at 1 and 2 d after anesthesia (P<0.05), working memory of aged rats in propofol group was normal at 3, 4, and 5 d after anesthesia and there were no statistical differences between the experiment and control group (P>0.05). Conclusions These results indicate that clinical dose propofol anesthesia will not induce long-term memory impairment of aged rats, although it impairs spatial working memory of aged rats within 48 h after anesthesia.
