Objective To study pathogen aetiology and distribution of drug resistance in neonatal septice-mia. Methods A retrospective study of positive organisms of blood cultures and the results of antimicrobial suscep-tibility testing was conducted from January 2000 to December 2006 in 1293 cases of neonatal septicemia; The results were divided into three groups:the earlier group, the middle group and the later group. The strains were identified by VITEK-AMS and antibiotics susceptibility was tested by K-B method, results were interpreted according to NCCLS. inant in three groups(76.3% ,74.1% and 65.7% ) (P <0.05). Among Gram-pesitive coccus, the most prevalent strains was staphylococcus, Gram-negative bacilli increased gradually, accounting for 21.3% ,21.3% and 28.4% in cpidermids to erythromycin and sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim were rather higher:93.3% ,73.7% vs 87.8% vs 100.0%, respectively, the resistance -rates to penicillin were less, but to susceptible to vancomyein,piperacill/tazo-batam,amikacinand ciprofloxacin;gram-negative bacilli were only sensitible to imipenem, cefepime, and cefopera zone/sulbactam;multiresistances of drug strains was commonly seen. Condusions It is important for using antibi-otics rationally according to drug sensitivity test, because multiresistant strains and opportunistic pathogen are com-monly seen.

The paper is to report the development of an optic-fiber sensing technology method to analyze metronidazole tablets rapidly. In this fiber-optic sensing system, the light from source delivering to probe can be dipped into simple-handling sample solution, absorbed by the solution and reflected to the fiber-optic and detected in the detection system at last. Then the drug content can be shown in the screen from the ultraviolet absorption spectra and the consistency between that obtained by this method and that in China Pharmacopoeia can be compared. With regard to data processing, a new method is explored to identify the authenticity of drugs using the similarity between the sample map and the standard pattern by full ultraviolet spectrum. The results indicate that ultraviolet spectra of tablets can be obtained from this technology and the determination results showed no significant difference as compared with the method in China Pharmacopoeia (P > 0.05), and the similarity can be a parameter to identify the authenticity of drugs.

Several key problems were analysed for the transdermal noninvasive glucose monitoring. A modified calibration equation was proposed for the high-sensitivity glucose biosensor due to its narrow linear range. The new equation has increased the sensors' linear range by 20 times. A new diffuse model was constructed for the electrode system of glucose sensor, aiming at the unique "finite space" electrochemical problem in trans-dermal technique. In addition, electrode masks were utilized to solve the problem of electrode loss in longtime glucose monitoring. In animal in-vivo experiments,70.1 % of the noninvasive glucose data points were clinically accurate, while the remains were clinically acceptable. All solutions mentioned above were based on both theoretical analysis and experimental validation, promoting the realization and optimization of transdermal noninvasive glucose monitoring techniques.

Background and purpose: Breast cancer is a group of heterogeneous diseases which has racial disparities. Our study was to elucidate the clinicopathologic features of breast carcinoma in Shanghai Han and Xinjiang Uygur women and to analyze the racial differences. Methods: In this study, 125 cases of breast invasive ductal carcinoma of Shanghai Han women and 85 cases of Xinjiang Uygur women were collected. The clinical stage was analyzed. Histological grading was observed. Immunohistochemical staining of ER, PR, HER-2, CK5/6, CK14, EGFR, Ki-67 was performed. Molecular subtypes were studied. Results:The average age of onset of breast cancer in Xinjiang Uygur women was younger than in Shanghai Han women (P<0.05), and Xinjiang Uygur women were more likely to be diagnosed at less than 35 years old (P<0.01). The proportion of stageⅠwas higher in Shanghai Han women (20.0%vs 8.2%), while the proportion of stageⅢwas higher in Xinjiang Uygur women (50.6%vs 27.2%) (P<0.01). The proportion of grade 2 was higher in Shanghai Han women (67.2% vs 43.5%), while the proportion of grade 3 was higher in Xinjiang Uygur women (47.1%vs 31.2%) (P<0.01). The proportion of luminal A subtype was higher in Shanghai Han women (36.8%vs 18.3%), while the proportion of basal-like subtype was higher in Xinjiang Uygur women (29.6%vs 12.0%) (P<0.01). The molecular subtype was associated with race and histological grade (P<0.05).Conclusion:There are racial differences in clinicopathologic features of breast carcinoma between Shanghai Han and Xinjiang Uygur women.

Subthalamic nucleus (STN) deep brain stimulation (DBS) has become an important surgical treatment of Parkinson disease, but its exact mechanism is still unclear. In this study, a 16-channel implantable microelectrode array (MEA) was prepared by micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) technique and later modified with platinum black/reduced Graphene Oxide/Nafion (Pt/RGO/Nafion) nanocomposites.Extracellular dopamine (DA) content and spike of dorsal striatum neurons were synchronously recorded before and after STN stimulation. The results showed that the dopamine content began to increase within 20 s after electrical stimulation and dropped to normal level after about 50 s, with the highest rising concentration of 1.72 μmol/L.At the same time, there was an increased spike activity of interneurons in the dopamine ascending phase, and the spike firing rate of medium spiny projection neurons (MSNs) was high when the concentration of DA was higher than the normal level. The MEA sensor can simultaneously record dopamine flux and physiological signals in situ, thus providing an ideal tool for neural information detection.

Objective To explore the therapeutic regimens and contraception methods in systemic lupus erythematosus ( SLE) patients with planned pregnancy . Methods Case report of a SLE patient expecting her second child and review of relevant literature were presented. The prognosis for pregnancy in SLE patients was discussed, the safety profile of medications used to treat SLE during pregnancy was analyzed and the efficacy, side effects of different contraceptive methods were compared. Results For SLE patients with high disease activity, the use of progestin-only contraceptives were advised to avoid thromboembolic risk and risk of disease flare. Patients were usually treated with high doses of systemic glucocorticoids in combination with mycophenolate mofetil (induction therapy) to control the disease.Pregnancy should be avoided until the disease was inactive for at least six months with a low-dose glucocorticoid (eg, 5 to 15 mg of prednisone per day).Azathioprine (not exceed 2 mg·kg-1 ·d-1 ) for maintaining remission was considered relatively safe during pregnancy, the use of cyclosporine or tacrolimus may also be acceptable in patients intolerant to azathioprine. Conclusion Ideally, all pregnancies in patients with SLE should be planned during periods of disease quiescence for at least six months. The safety and efficacy of medications and contraceptive methods must be reviewed and adjusted prior to conception with the goal of maintaining disease control and optimizing maternal outcomes.
