Liver Research 2020;4(1):35-39
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is a common chronic disease characterized by excessive fat accumulation in hepatocytes in the absence of alcohol consumption.Modern trends towards excessive calorie intake and sedentary life styles have increased the prevalence of NAFLD accompanied by obesity and type 2 diabetes. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the initiation and progression of NAFLD are not clear.Zinc finger proteins(ZFPs)are a superfamily of metalloproteins that contain zinc finger motifs.ZFPs play diverse physiological roles in tissue homeostasis and also contribute to many pathological conditions, including metabolic, cardiovascular, and neurodegenerative diseases and various types of cancer. In this review,we highlight our current knowledge of several ZFPs that play critical roles in the progression of NAFLD,describe their mechanistic functional networks, and discuss the potential for ZFPs as therapeutic targets for NAFLD.

Objective: To explore the gender related differences of clinical symptoms and triggering factors in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in China.
Methods: A population of 14 854 AMI patients with CAMI registration from 2013-01 to 2014-03 were studied, which included 10999 (74.0%) male and 3855 (26.0%) female. The gender related differences of clinical symptoms and triggering factors were analyzed in the population.
Results: The chest pain and severe sweating were the most common symptoms of AMI patient, there were 66.4%of patients with persistent chest pain and 63.7%of patients with severe sweating. Male patients were more with chest pain (67.8%vs 62.4%) and severe sweating (65.8%vs 58.0%) than female, while female patients were more with radiating pain (36.0%vs 31.0%) and nausea/vomiting (35.6%vs 25.0%) than male, all P<0.05. There were 19.4%of patients having clear cause of AMI, and physical stress was the most frequent trigger (48.5%) for AMI. Male patients usually had clear cause than female (20.9%vs 15.1%), especially because of physical stress (49.5%vs 44.5%) and excessive recent unhealthy lifestyles (15.4%vs 8.8%), all P<0.05.
Conclusion: Chest pain and severe sweating were the most common clinical symptoms for AMI patients in China, about 1/5 of them had triggering factors and it was more in male patients.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the expression and concentration of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) in middle ear cholesteatoma and discuss their relations.
METHOD:
Twenty-nine cases of middle ear cholesteatoma tissue, 18 cases of external auditory canal tissue were detected by limulus amebocyte lysate assay (LAL-assay), and expression of MMP-9 protein in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues was detected by immunohistochemical method.
RESULT:
The concentrations of LPS in cholesteatoma were higher than that in external auditory canal tissues. In group of cholesteatoma: M = 0.739 0, IQR = 0.6203, and in group of external auditory canal tissues: M = -0.2538, IQR = 1.1692 (P < 0.01). In cholesteatoma groups, in extensive type: M = 0.8403, IQR = 0.5254; in localized type: M = 0.4048, IQR = 0.6139, the concentrations of LPS were higher in extensive cholesteatoma in comparison with localized cholesteatoma (P < 00.05). In cholesteatoma epithelium samples, MMP-9 were 79.3%. Compared with external auditory canal epithelium, the expression of MMP-9 was higher in middle ear cholesteatoma epithelium (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the expression of MMP-9 between two types of cholesteatoma epithelium (P > 0.05). LPS, MMP-9 weren't significantly correlated by Spearman test.
CONCLUSION
LPS was responsible for middle ear cholesteatoma and its related bone erosion. MMP-9 was related to the development of middle ear cholesteatoma. There's no correlation between LPS and MMP-9.

Objective:To investigate the early auditory discrimination of vowels, consonants and lexical tones in prelingually-deafened children with cochlear implants (CI) using auditory event-related potentials. Methods:Nineteen prelingually-deafened CI children and 19 normal hearing (NH) children were recruited in this study. A multi-deviant oddball paradigm was constructed using the monosyllable/ta1/as the standard stimulus and monosyllables/tu1/,/te1/, /da1/,/ra1/,/ta4/and/ta2/as the deviant stimuli. The event-related potentials evoked by vowel, consonant and lexical tone contrasts were recorded and analyzed in the two groups. Results:NH children showed robust mismatch negativities (MMNs) to vowel, consonant and lexical tone contrasts ( P<0.05), whereas CI children only showed positive mismatch responses (pMMRs) and P3a responses to the vowel ( P<0.05) and consonant contrasts ( P<0.05) and no significant event-related potential to the lexical tone contrasts ( P>0.05). The longer pMMR and P3a peak latencies ( P<0.01) but similar amplitudes ( P>0.05) were found in CI children than in NH children. CI children showed weaker phase synchronization of θ oscillations than NH children ( P<0.05). The duration of CI use was positively correlated with the scores of Categories of Auditory Performance (CAP) ( P=0.004), Speech Intelligibility Rate (SIR) ( P=0.044) and Meaningful Auditory Integration Scale (MAIS) ( P=0.001) in CI children. Conclusions:Prelingually-deafened CI children can process vowels and consonants at an early stage. However, their ability of processing speech, especially lexical tones, is still more immature compared with their NH peers. The event-related potentials could be objective electrophysiological indicators reflecting the maturity of CI children′s auditory speech functions. Long-term CI use is beneficial for prelingually-deafened children to improve auditory and speech performance.
