1.Review of Cephalosporins-induced Renal Damage

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the characteristics of emergence of renal damage induced by cephalosporins METH_ODS:Data of renal damage induced by cephalosporins were collected from published articles,which were retrieved from CHINESE PHARMACEUTICAL ABSTRACT issued between January 1992 and December 2000,and analysed RESULTS:There were 142 cases involving in renal damage induced by 5 kinds of cephalosporins;Cefradine(111),Cefoperazone(13),Cefazolin(13),Cefalexin(4),Ceftriaxone(1) The main clinical manifestations were hematuria(122),acute renal failure(7),urinary retention(6) and acute glomerulonephritis(5) CONCLUSION:Only when the cephalosporins are rationally used can ARDs be reduced
2.Clinical Pharmacists' Participation in Hospital Infection Control

OBJECTIVE: To strengthen monitoring on the clinical use of antibacterials so as to promote rational drug use. METHODS: Clinical pharmacists worked on the rational use of antibacterials, offered consultation guidance and monitoring to participate the affairs about hospital infection control. RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS: Clinical pharmacists' participation in hospital infection control by strengthening the monitoring of the rational clinical use of antibacterials, participating in clinical consultance of critical infective patients, careful evaluating prescriptions and medical histories in respect of the rationality of drug use can help strengthen the control on the clinical use of antibacterials.
