A new fluorimetric method was developed for the determi nation of ethanol in alcoholic beverage. The method is based on the principle that tetrasubstituted sulphonated aluminum phthalocyanine (AlS4Pc), a red-r egion fluorescent reagent, is induced to associate in the presence of cationic s urfactant, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTMAB), thus its fluorescence is quen ched, and then the aggregate is disaggregated by the a ddition of ethanol and the fluorescence is recovered. This method has a linear determination range of 0.5%~90.0%(V/V), the detection limit is 0.48%(V /V). The method has been used to determine real alcoholic beverage samples w ith satisfactory results.

Objective To explore the relationship between glycated albumin ( GA ) in 2 consecutive months and hemoglobin A1c ( HbA1c) in diabetes patients. Methods Totally 100 consecutive patients with main diagnosis of diabetes mellitus were enrolled retrospectively from April 2015 to January 2016 in outpatient clinic of endocrinology of Peking Union Medical College Hospital, who had undertaken GA tests every 4 weeks for 2 successive months and had HbA1c test in the second month.GA was measured with liquid enzymatic method. HbA1c was measured by ion-exchange high performance liquid chromatography. The relationship between HbA1c and GA for the 2 successive months was determined. Results A total of 85 patients were enrolled. The regres-sion equation between HbA1c (y) and average GA (j) for successive 2 months was y=3.187+0.218j (adjusted R2 =0.520, P=0.000), which showed a similar effect as the regression equation for HbA1c and the levels of GA tested for the 2 successive months (adjusted R2 =0.514, P=0.000), and both had more significant regressive effect than the regression equation for HbA1c and single measurement of GA (adjusted R2 =0.392, P=0.000). Conclusions The regressive effect between HbA1c and GA (or the average of GA) in successive 2 months is bet-ter than that with single measurement of GA, hence could better predict HbA1c in clinical practice.

Objective:To construct a risk prediction model for ICU delirium in patients with brain tumor surgery, and to verify the application value of the model in predicting the risk of ICU delirium in patients with brain tumor. Methods:Using the convenient sampling method, a total of 336 postoperative patients with brain tumors who were admitted to Neurosurgery ICU of East Hospital Affiliated to Tongji University from December 2020 to July 2021 were selected as the modeling group. Patients were divided into the delirium group ( n=101) and the non-delirium group ( n=235) according to the occurrence of ICU delirium. The patients were evaluated using Confusion Assessment Method for the Intensive Care Unit (CAM-ICU) and Richmond Agitation Sedation Score (RASS) . Univariate analysis and binomial logistic regression analysis were used to explore the influencing factors of ICU delirium in patients after brain tumor surgery and to construct a predictive model. The area under receiver operating characteristic curve ( AUC) and Calibration curve were used to evaluate the discrimination and calibration of the model. The model was validated by 1 000 Bootstrap self-sampling methods. According to the same criteria, a total of 144 patients with brain tumors from August to November 2021 were selected as the validation group to verify the model. Results:The predictors that finally entered the model were age ( OR=1.033) , length of stay in neurosurgical ICU ( OR=1.298) , length of operation ( OR=1.006) , use of benzodiazepines ( OR=5.850) , physical restraint ( OR=2.820) , tumor diameter ( OR=1.385) and bilateral brain tumor mass ( OR=3.604) . The prediction model of AUC was 0.935 (95% CI: 0.911-0.960, P<0.01) , the Youden index was 0.747, the sensitivity was 92.1% and the specificity was 82.6%. The internal validation consistency index of the Bootstrap method was 0.916, and the calibration curve fit the ideal curve well. The model validation results showed that the sensitivity was 86.4%, the specificity was 85.0%. Conclusions:The prediction model of delirium risk in ICU patients after brain tumor surgery has good predictive performance, which can provide reference for medical staff to take preventive management measures in the early stage.

Pancreatic cancer, one of the common malignant tumors of the digestive system,is secretive in incidence and morbidity.Eighty percent of pancreatic cancer patients have already missed the opportunity of eradicative resection surgery when they were diagnosed, among whom, thirty to fifty percent of patients are in locally advanced tumor stage (specifically signifying the local extensive infiltration of tumor with serious vascular invasion and without distant metastasis) with a five-year survival rate of five to ten percent after excision. The pathogenesis of pancreatic cancer is still unclear, with a low rate of early diagnosis due to its lack of characteristic clinical manifestations. This paper reviewed the relevant studies on the clinical therapy of pancreatic cancer patients in locally advanced tumor stage, which is the key to improve the prognosis of pancreatic cancer.

BACKGROUNDIn general the traditional static seeding method has its limitation while the dynamic seeding method reveals its advantages over traditional static method. We compared static and dynamic seeding method for human bone marrow stromal cells (hBMSCs) in bone tissue engineering.
METHODSDNA assay was used for detecting the maximal initial seeding concentration for static seeding. Dynamic and static seeding methods were compared, when scaffolds were loaded with hBMSCs at this maximal initial cell seeding concentration. Histology and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were examined to evaluate the distribution of cells inside the constructs. Markers encoding osteogenic genes were measured by fluorescent RT-PCR. The protocol for dynamic seeding of hBMSCs was also investigated.
RESULTSDNA assay showed that the static maximal initial seeding concentration was lower than that in dynamic seeding. Histology and SEM showed even distribution and spread of cells in the dynamically seeded constructs, while their statically seeded counterparts showed cell aggregation. Fluorescent RT-PCR again showed stronger osteogenic potential of dynamically seeded constructs.
CONCLUSIONdynamic seeding of hBMSCs is a promising technique in bone tissue engineering.

9.Wandering Minds with Wandering Brain Networks.
Neuroscience Bulletin 2018;34(6):1017-1028
The default mode network (DMN) is associated with the occurrence of mind-wandering or task-unrelated thought. In contrast, the frontal-parietal network (FPN) and visual network (VS) are involved in tasks with external stimuli. However, it is not clear how these functional network interactions support these two different processes - mind-wandering and on-task - especially with regard to individual variation in the mind-wandering experience. In this study, we investigated the functional connectivity and modular structure among the DMN, FPN, and VS. Our results showed that, compared to the on-task period, mind-wandering was associated with increased DMN activity and increased DMN-VS connectivity. Moreover, mind-wandering was accompanied by a large number of transitional nodes, which expressed a diversity of brain regions. Intriguingly, the functional connectivity of the FPN and VS was strongly correlated with individual behavioral performance. Our findings highlight the individual variation of mind-wandering, which implies the importance of other complementary large-scale brain networks.
