Objective To investigate the capability for distinguishing between the morphology of Oncomelania hupensis and Tricula snails and its influencing factors among schistosomiasis control professionals in Yunnan Province, so as to evaluate the interference of Tricula snails with O. hupensis surveys. Methods O. hupensis and Tricula snails were sampled from 9 schistosomiasis-endemic counties (districts) in Yunnan Province. The capability for distinguishing between O. hupensis and Tricula snails was evaluated using online questionnaire surveys and field blind tests among schistosomiasis control professionals, and the proportions of correct judgment, misjudgment and missed judgment were calculated. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression models were created using the software SPSS 25.0, and factors affecting the proportion of correct judgments of O. hupensis snails were identified among schistosomiasis control professionals. Results Questionnaire surveys and field blind tests showed that the overall proportions of correct judgments of O. hupensis snails were 56.77% (2 305/4 060) and 68.28% (1 556/2 279) among schistosomiasis control professionals in Yunnan Province, respectively. Univariate logistic regression analysis of online questionnaire surveys identified gender [odds ratio (OR) = 1.244, 95% confidential interval (CI): (1.073, 1.441), P < 0.05], professional title [OR = 0.628, 1.741, 95% CI: (0.453, 0.871), (1.109, 2.734), both P < 0.05], working duration [OR = 0.979, 95% CI: (0.971, 0.987), P < 0.05] and classification of schistosomiasis epidemics in endemic foci [OR = 1.410, 0.293, 0.523, 95% CI: (1.103, 1.804), (0.237, 0.361), (0.416, 0.657), all P < 0.05] as factors affecting the proportion of correct judgments of O. hupensis snails among schistosomiasis control professionals in Yunnan Province, and multivariate logistic regression analysis after adjustments showed that the proportion of O. hupensis snail misjudgments was 1.179 times higher among male schistosomiasis control professionals than among females [OR = 1.179, 95% CI: (1.006, 1.382), P < 0.05], and 1.474 times higher among schistosomiasis control professionals in schistosomiasis-elimination areas with snails than in areas without snails [OR = 1.474, 95% CI: (1.145, 1.898), P < 0.05], and the proportions of missed judgments of O. hupensis snails were 0.284 [OR = 0.284, 95% CI: (0.225, 0.359), P < 0.05] and 0.523 times [OR = 0.523, 95% CI: (0.412, 0.664), P < 0.05] higher among schistosomiasis control professionals in transmission-interruption areas with snails and schistosomiasis-elimination areas with snails than in schistosomiasis-elimination areas without snails. Univariate logistic regression analysis of field blind tests showed age [OR = 2.381, 95% CI: (1.677, 3.381), P < 0.05], professional title [OR = 1.688, 95% CI: (1.103, 2.582), P < 0.05], working duration [OR = 0.970, 95% CI: (0.956, 0.984), P < 0.05] and classification of schistosomiasis epidemics in endemic foci [OR = 0.262, 0.593, 95% CI: (0.188, 0.364), (0.420, 0.837), both P < 0.05] as factors affecting the proportion of correct judgments of O. hupensis snails among schistosomiasis control professionals in Yunnan Province, and multivariate logistic regression analysis after adjustments showed the proportions of missed judgments of O. hupensis snails were 0.263 [OR = 0.263, 95% CI: (0.176, 0.394), P < 0.05] and 0.604 times [OR = 0.604, 95% CI: (0.416, 0.875), P < 0.05] higher among schistosomiasis control professionals in transmission-interruption areas with snails and schistosomiasis-elimination areas with snails than in schistosomiasis-elimination areas without snails. Conclusions Schistosomiasis control professionals in Yunnan Province have a low accuracy rate for distinguishing between the morphology of O. hupensis and Tricula snails, and gender and classification of schistosomiasis epidemics in endemic foci are factors that affect their ability to distinguish. The presence of Tricula snails causes a high degree of interference with O. hupensis surveys in O. hupensis snail-infested areas of Yunnan Province. Reinforced training for distinguishing between O. hupensis and Tricula snails is required among schistosomiasis control professionals in Yunnan Province.

Circular RNA(circRNA)represents a unique class of closed-loop structured non-coding RNAs involved in various biological processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation, and apopto-sis.They play a significant role in the development of numerous diseases, and also serve as poten-tial biomarkers and therapeutic targets. To explore the impact of circRNA on viral replication, this study performed an omics measurement and analysis of circRNA differential expression in MC38 cells infected with HY12 enterovirus. It was found that, following HY12 virus infection, the ex-pressionlevels of 570 circRNAs were upregulated, while 381 circRNAs were downregulated.A-mong the upregulated circRNAs,the significantly upregulated circRNA mmu_circ_0001083 was selected for further investigation into its association with HY12 infection and its impact on viral replication. The results indicated that after HY12 virus infection, the expression of host circRNA mmu_circ_0001083 significantly increased, and its expression level was dependent on the virus dos-age and time.Compared to normal MC38 cells infected with the HY12 virus, cells with knocked down expression of circRNA mmu_circ_0001083 showed reduced expression of the 2C protein and significantly lower viral titers.Conversely, after HY12 virus infection in MC38 cells with overexpressed circRNA mmu_circ_0001083,there was an increase in the expression of the 2C pro-tein and a significant rise in viral titers. These results suggest that the upregulation of host cir-cRNA mmu_circ_0001083 is significantly positively correlated with the replication of HY12 virus, meaning mmu_circ_0001083 plays a positive regulatory role in the replication of HY12.This find-ing lays a foundation for future in-depth studies on the regulatory mechanisms of circRNA on viral replication.

The NMGCF-19 strain is an E.coli strain isolated and identified in our laboratory from lambs manifesting severe diarrhea and meningitis.Previous analysis of the genome sequence of NMGCF-19 strain showed that the outer membrane protein A(ompA)gene was a potential viru-lent gene.In order to determine whether the ompA gene is associated with the pathogenicity of NMGCF-19 strain and the underlying mechanism, the NMGCF-19 strain with ompA knockout(NMGCF-19△ompA)was generated in this study using CRISPR/Cas9 technology and used to de-termine the role of ompA gene in mediating the encephalitis by NMGCF-19 infection and the un-derlying mechanism using the mouse model system. The results showed that the neuronal cell nec-rosis in the hippocampus in mice infected by NMGCF-19△ompA was significantly reduced and was not focal compared with that of mice infected with the wild-type NMGCF-19 strain. The number of bacteria in brain of mice infected by NMGCF-19 △ompA was significantly reduced in comparison to that of mice infected by NMGCF-19.Simultaneously,the mRNA and protein expression levels of the tight junction proteins ZO-1 and Occludin were both increased in mice infected by NMGCF-19 △ompA strain compared with the mice infected by NMGCF-19 strain. These results suggest that the ompA gene is a virulent gene and plays an important role in the invasion of the blood-brain barrier by NMGCF-19 strain in mice.

A recombinant enzyme-mediated nucleic acid amplification(RAA)technology combined with colloidal gold test strips was developed for the rapid detection of bovine enterovirus(BEV).Using the highly conserved BEV 5'UTR as the target sequence, the primers were designed and screened.Downstream primer labeled with biotin at the 5'end and the probe labeled with 6-FAM at the 5'end were used to establish the RT-RAA method. The test strips were assembled by using mouse-derived anti-6-FAM monoclonal antibody as the gold standard antibody, with a streptavidin encapsulated in the detection line and sheep anti-mouse IgG encapsulated in the quality control line.A RT-RAA-LFD method was established by combing RAA technique with the prepared later-al flow device test strips for the detection of bovine enterovirus nucleic acids. The specificity,sensi-tivity,repeatability,and clinical application of the method are also evaluated. The results showed that the optimal primer concentration of this method was 5 μmol/L,and the amplification of BEV nucleic acids was accomplished by reacting at 35 ℃ for 8 min with the lowest detection limit of 101 copies/μL.No cross-reactivity with bovine viral diarrhea virus, bovine parvovirus, and foot-and-mouth disease virus was observed. The efficacy for the prepared test strips was at least for 90 d kept at 4 ℃.Detection of 74 clinical samples yielded a similar result compared with RT-PCR method. The above results demonstrated that the BEV RT-RAA-LFD method established in this study has high sensitivity, specificity, and more convenient to use, which is suitable for clinical de-tection on-site and provides a new technical tool for the diagnosis and epidemiological investigation of BEV infection.

Objective:To analyze the characteristics of child cases admitted to accidental injury and provide reliable basis for the prevention of accidental injury. Methods:The clinical data of children admitted to Hunan Children′s Hospital aged 0-18 due to accidental injuries from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. The type of accidental injury and characteristic factors such as prognosis, gender, age, time, and location of the child were analyzed. Results:A total of 9 049 children with accidental injury were admitted, accounting for 3.72%(9 049/33 697) of the total number of hospitalized children. The top three types of accidental injuries were falls/drop (3 695 cases), foreign bodies/suffocation (2 639 cases) and traffic accidents (1 165 cases), accounting for 82.87%(7 499/9 049). There were 8 760 cases (96.81%) of improvement and recovery, 178 cases (1.97%) of disability, and 111 cases (1.23%) of unhealed/dead. Among the accidental injuries, 5 833 cases (64.46%) were boys and 3 216 cases (35.54%) were girls, and the incidence ratio was 1.81∶1. There was significant difference between boys and girls in the composition ratio of the type of accidental injury such as falls/falls, foreign bodies/suffocation, poisoning, sharp object injury, drowning ( χ2 values were 3.90-20.56, all P<0.05). Among the accidental injuries, the children aged 1 to<3 years had higher accidental injuries than the other age groups (3 263 cases, accounting for 36.06%), and the composition ratio of accidental injuries in different age groups was different ( χ2 values were 12.98-573.97, all P<0.05). Among the accidental injuries, the accidental injuries occurred in the second quarter and the third quarter were higher than those in the other two quarters (4 892 cases, accounting for 54.06%), and the composition ratio of accidental injuries such as falls/falls, foreign bodies/suffocation, burn and scald, drowning occurred in different quarters was different ( χ2 values were 10.79-18.88, all P<0.05). In the case of accidental injuries, the family was the most likely place of accidental injury, with different types of accidental injuries occurring in different places ( χ2 values were 10.08-2 186.54, all P<0.05). Conclusions:Children′s unintentional injuries are most likely to occur in boys aged 1-<3 years, and fall/fall is the main injury type. Traffic accidents are the most important unintentional injury type leading to children′s unhealed/dead. Different injury types were related to child gender, age, quarter, and place of occurrence.Due to the differences in the occurrence mechanism and injury mode of accidental injuries in different countries and regions, and the majority of accidental injuries can be prevented, targeted preventive measures should be taken according to the characteristics of children′s accidental injuries in different regions, and a comprehensive prevention system for children′s accidental injuries should be constructed to ensure children′s safety.

Psychiatry Investigation 2023;20(6):559-566
Objective:
This study’s objective is to assess the efficacy and safety of Pulsed Magnetic Therapy System (PMTS) in improving insomnia disorder.
Methods:
Participants with insomnia disorder were randomly assigned to receive either PMTS or sham treatment for four weeks (n= 153; PMTS: 76, sham: 77). Primary outcomes are the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) scores at week 0 (baseline), 1, 2, 3, 4 (treatment), and 5 (follow-up). Secondary outcomes are the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index at baseline and week 4, and weekly sleep diary-derived values for sleep latency, sleep efficiency, real sleep time, waking after sleep onset, and sleep duration.
Results:
The ISI scores of the PMTS group and the sham group were 7.13±0.50, 11.07±0.51 at week 4, respectively. There was a significant group×time interaction for ISI (F3.214, 485.271=24.25, p<0.001, ηp 2=0.138). Only the PMTS group experienced continuous improvement throughout the study; in contrast, the sham group only experienced a modest improvement after the first week of therapy. At the end of the treatment and one week after it, the response of the PMTS group were 69.7% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 58.6%–79.0%), 75.0% (95% CI: 64.1%–83.4%), respectively, which were higher than the response of the sham group (p<0.001). For each of the secondary outcomes, similar group×time interactions were discovered. The effects of the treatment persisted for at least a week.
Conclusion
PMTS is safe and effective in improving insomnia disorders.
