Objective: To study the optimal combined ratio of baicalin, icariin and Astragalus saponin I from a Chinese herbal compound Biminne. Methods: Firstly, a mouse model of allergic rhinitis was established by intraperitoneal injection of ovalbumin (OVA) and aluminum hydroxide gel suspension, and the effective dose range of baicalin, icariin and Astragalus saponin I was detected by 2,3-bis(2-methoxy-4-nitro-5-sulfophenyl)-2H-tetrazolium-5-carboxanilide inner salt method. Secondly, 10 groups of combinations of baicalin, icariin and Astragalus saponin I assembled by U*(10)(10(8)) form were employed to determine the optimal combination by means of analyzing of the inhibitory effect on the splenocyte proliferation. Finally, the effects of each effective ingredient and the optimal combination were compared by observing the splenocyte proliferation, the contents of interleukin-4 (IL-4), IL-5, interferon-gamma (IFN-gamma) in supernatant of the splenocyte cultures and the ratio of IL-4 to IFN-gamma in order to verify the result. Results: Baicalin or icariin at concentrations ranging from 2 to 10 mumol/L, and Astragalus saponin I from 1 to 10 mumol/L effectively suppressed the splenocyte proliferation. When the proportion of baicalin, icariin and Astragalus saponin I was 1:2.14:2.65, the inhibitory effect was most remarkable. Further research confirmed the rationality of the optimal combination. Conclusion: An optimal combination of the major effective ingredients from Chinese herbal compound Biminne most effectively suppresses the proliferation of splenocytes from sensitized mice and regulates the cytokine secreting.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the relationship between the proliferation of parathyroid cell in rabbit with primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) and the bone mineral density (BMD). MethodsEighty adult Chinese rabbits were randomly and equally divided into two groups. The contrast group was fed with normal diet ( Ca ∶ P, 1.0 ∶ 0. 7 ) and the experimental group was fed with high phosphate diet ( Ca ∶ P,1.0∶7.0) to establish the animal model of PHPT. At 3, 4, 5, and 6 months after the diet, bone mineral density of the rabbits was measured by the quantity CT (QCT). Then, the parathyroid and bone of the rabbits were removed for pathological examination. The number of parathyroid cell in PHPT was calculated.Proliferation was determined by immunohistochemistry of proliferation cell nuclear antigen ( PCNA ) and Bcl-2. The t test and Logistic regression was used to analyze the difference of data of two groups. ResultThe number of parathyroid cell in PHPT group was 1.61 times than that in the contrast group[ (673 ± 151 ) HP,(418 ± 25 ) HP,P <0. 01]. The rate of PCNA positive-cell was significantly increased in PHPT group than that in contrast group [(50.52 ± 11.62)%o, (26.70 ± 2. 78 )%, P < 0.01], and so was Bcl-2[ (460. 37 ± 190. 05 )‰, (67. 02 ±:4. 38 )%‰,P <0. 05]. The value of BMD was significantly decreased in PHPT group than that in contrast group [ ( 152. 5 ± 34. 3 ), ( 188.6 ± 12. 2 ) g/cm3, P < 0. 05]. There was a negative correlation between BMD and PCNA (r = -0. 749, P < 0. 05 ) and between BMD and Bcl-2 (r =-0.800, P < 0. 05 ) in PHPT group. ConclusionThe BMD of PHPT is related to the parathyroid cells proliferation which provide a reliable method for early diagnosis of PHPT.

Objective To evaluate the short-term and long-term outcomes of patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) compared with those with non-STEMI after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Method The DESIRE Ⅱ (Drug-Eluting Stent Impact on Revascularization Ⅱ) was a single-center registered retrospective study of coronary revascularization in our institution between July 2003 and September 2009.Data of demographics, clinical features and revascularization record of STEMI and non-STEMI patients from the DESIRE Ⅱ trial were analyzed. The patients were followed up in OPD or by telephone after discharge. MACCE (major adverse cardiocerebral events) including death, neo-myocardial infarction, stroke and revascularization were recorded. The clinical outcomes of patients of two types were evaluated. Results There were 6005 patients studied with a median follow-up of 566 days. A total of 1009 STEMI and non-STEMI patients were analyzed. The patients with non-STEMI ( n = 206) had higher prevalence of hypertension and history of higher frequency of myocardial infarction as well as revascularization compared with patients with STEMI ( n = 803). The patients with non-STEMI had higher ratio of treatment for multivessel disease (43.7% vs. 34.4%, P = 0.039). There were no significant differences in in-hospital mortality and long-term outcomes (one year survival rate: 96% vs. 98%)between patients with STEMI and non-STEMI. The predictors of 1-year mortality were LVEF and blood creatine. Conclusions Despite different chnical features, patients with STEMI and non-STEMI after PCI had similar both short-term and long-term outcomes.

OBJECTIVETo analyse the genetic relationship of local strains of dengue type 1 viruses isolated in different years and regions from Guangdong Province, and to explore the genetic links with strains of adjacent countries by comparing with the sequences of relevant strains in Genbank.
METHODSThe viral RNAs were extracted and used for one-step reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) to amplify the partial nucleotide fragments in E/NS1 gene junction which were then cloned into the plasmid pBluescript II SK for sequencing, the results were analysed by DNASTAR software.
RESULTSThe phylogenetic tree of the sequenced 14 strains of dengue type 1 viruses branches into two genotypic groups. The nucleotide sequences showed a maximal homologies of 99.2% with Indonesia strains, 100% with Philippines strains and 98.8% with Thailand strains.
CONCLUSIONSThe dengue type 1 viruses of Guangdong Province are closely related to the Philippines, Indonesia and Thailand strains, which may indicate the possibility of importation from those countries.
