Benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate neoplasm were mainly disease which affect the living of the aging. Melatonin was a mainly hormone secreted by the pineal gland, which had a broad physiological effect. It was reported that melatonin affected the occurrence and development of the two diseases, meanwhile, the special melatonin binding site existed in the prostate tissue had been proved. This review focuses on recent progress in the studies about the aspects.

OBJECTIVE:To systematically review the efficacy of L-carnitine in the treatment of heart failure,and provide evi-dence-based reference for clinical treatment. METHODS:Retrieved from Cochrane Library,PubMed,Medline,CJFD and Wanfang Database, randomized controlled trials(RCT)about the efficacy of L-carnitine in the treatment of heart failure were collected. Me-ta-analysis was performed by using Rev Man 5.1 software after data extraction and quality evaluation. RESULTS:Totally 42 RCTs were enrolled,involving 3 494 patients. Results of Meta-analysis showed,L-carnitine can significantly improve the effective rate [OR=4.07,95%CI(3.16,5.25),P<0.001],increase left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF)[MD=4.49,95%CI(3.49,5.49),P<0.001],decrease brain natriuretic peptide(BNP)levels [MD=-130.17,95%CI(-193.81,-66.52),P<0.001] and improve walk-ing distance in 6 minutes [MD=46.12,95%CI(35.72,56.51),P<0.001],the differences were statistically significant. CONCLU-SIONS:L-carnitine has good efficacy in the treatment of heart failure,it can significantly improve LVEF,decrease BNP level and increase walking distance in 6 minutes.

AIM To explore the inhibition in in vitro p roliferation human prostate cancer PC 3 cells induced by melatonin and the effe ct of combination of melatonin and 5-Fu. METHODS Cell growth cu rve, MTT assay, and acid phosphatase(ACP)activity were used to determine cell proliferation. Coomassie brillient blue assay and modified diphenylamine assay w ere used to measure the content of protein and DNA in PC 3 cells. ACP activity was measured by modified phenyl phosphat e method of kind and king and modified method of lowry. Co-administration effec t of MLT and 5-fluorouracil(5-Fu)on PC 3 cell proliferation was determined by MTT assay. RESULTS The IC 50 of MLT for inhibiting PC 3, CoLo205, K562, and HeLa cell proliferation was(1 20?0 30),(1 27?0 12) ,(1 60?0 16)and(2 25?0 11)mmol?L -1 , respectively. And MLT inhib ited all above cells proliferation in a concentration-dependent manner. The protein and DNA content and ACP activity in PC 3 cell treated with 2 mmol?L -1 MLT for 96 h were redu ced 58 77%, 54 97% and 89 24%, respectively. When PC 3 cells were treated wi th MLT in combination with 5-Fu 0 5 mg?L -1 , the inhibition rate enhance d. CONCLUSION MLT inhibited PC 3, CoLo205, K562, and HeLa cell p roliferation, and reduced the content of protein and DNA and ACP activity in PC 3 cell. OBJECTIVE:To provide reference for improving the teaching quality of the course of Drug Abuse and ADR Moni-toring in pharmacy master degree candidates. METHODS:In Pharmacy College of Jilin University,traditional teaching method was adopted among pharmacy master degree candidates of grade 2014(n=30,control group);case teaching method was adopted for the course of Drug Abuse and ADR Monitoring among those of grade 2015 (n=32,observation group). The teaching effects were evaluated by questionnaire and examination. RESULTS:Theoretical examination result and case analysis score as well as the rate of excellent case analysis score in observation group were all significantly higher than control group,with statistical signifi-cance (P<0.05). The satisfaction degree of observation group was significantly higher than that of control group in respects of teaching methods,arousing interest in classroom learning,establishing the awareness of safe and rational drug use,with statistical significance (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS:For the course of Drug Abuse and ADR Monitoring in pharmacy master degree candi-dates,case teaching method improves students'exam results,stimulates students'interest and enthusiasm,promotes the establish-ment of students'safe and rational drug use consciousness and improves teaching quality.

Objective To study the local irritation of repeated intrathecal injection of Ziconotide Acetate,and to provide reference for irritancy evaluation ofintrathecal injection.Methods Sixteen New Zealand rabbits were assigned into two groupsat random:Control group and Ziconotide Acetate group,eight animals each group.Totally 50 μL saline or Ziconotide Acetate (100 μg/mL) were administrated by repeated lumbar intrathecal injection once daily for 7 d.Animal behavior was observed every day,and four animals in each group were sacrificed 2 d later after the last injection,the lumbar spinal cord was removed for histopathological examination and irritancy evaluation.The remaining animals were sacrificed for initancy evaluation 14 d later after the last injection.Results Only one animal died after anesthesia on day three in saline group,while no obvious adverse reactions were observed in other rabbits during the entire study,and no intrathecal irritant reactions of histopathological examination were found in both groups.The reversible minor mechanical damage was observed at the injection point,2 d after the last administration.Conclusion For 7 d repeated lumbar intrathecal injection in rabbits,no intrathecal irritant reactions observed in Ziconotide group,and the New Zealand rabbit could be used as a local irritation evaluation model.

Objective To evaluate the characteristics and efficacy of microscope-assisted bilateral decompression via unilateral approach for the treatment of lumbar stenosis. Methods From June 2007 to June 2010, Sixty case lumbar stenosis with bilateral decompression were treated via unilateral approach under microscopy. Patients were followed up from 6 to 24 months, average (12 ± 4.7) months. Results The pain level of each patient was assessed both before and after the opeartion, using a visual analogue scale (VAS). Intermittent claudication was completely relieved in 57 out of 60 cases, moderately relieved in 3 cases. VAS score decreased from pre-operational 9.08 ± 0.76 to post-operational 2.33 ± 1.43, and there was significantly difference between them. There was no recurrent case during the whole follow-up. Conclusion Bilateral decompression via unilateral approach under microscope is proved to be an effective and safe procedure for the treatment of lumbar stenosis, and have the advantages of minimal invasion, less pain, quick recovery, better effect, little influence on the spinal stability.

Purpose To investigate the effect of shortening the acquisition time of 18F-D6-AV133 PET/CT on image quality and diagnostic efficacy in Parkinson's disease.Materials and Methods A total of 51 participants(27 of Parkinson's disease,24 of healthy-controls)from the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University from October 2021 to June 2022 were retrospectively selected.Images were obtained after the injection of the tracer 18F-D6-AV133(371.04±16.30)MBq for 60 min,with collection times of 10 min.Four sets of images were reconstructed using CT attenuation correction with acquisition times of 3,5,7 and 10 min.Semi-quantitative analysis was performed on the PET images,calculating the striatum-to-occipital lobe standardized uptake value ratio(SUVR).Two physicians independently conducted qualitative evaluations for each image group.The differences of SUVR and visual score results among four sets of images were performed.The optimal critical value of SUVR was obtained by analyzing the receiver operating characteristic curve of the subjects.Results The visual analysis of image quality had a strong consistency between the two doctors(ICC=0.853,P<0.001).The images with acquisition time of 5 min could reach the common quality level in clinical work,accounting for 78.4%(40/51).The semi-quantitative results of image quality showed that there was no significant difference between SUVR and diagnostic efficiency obtained by acquisition time 5 min and 10 min(Z=1.821,P=0.069),and the best critical value of the two groups was equal to 3.Therefore,properly shortening the acquisition time had no effect on the diagnosis of Parkinson's disease.Conclusion With the development and advancement of technical equipment,PET image quality is gradually improving and the scanning time is also gradually shortening.The acquisition time for 18F-D6-AV133 can be shortened from the conventional 10 min to 5 min.
