Objective To understand the morbidity of schistosomiasis japonica and health status of the liver and spleen of residents in a village and to evaluate the application of ultrasound on schistosomiasis epidemiology. Methods A total of 454 residents aged 5-65 years were examined by methods of Kato-Katz and ultrasound as well as disease history inquiry. Results The positive rate was 9.38% by stool examination, with no significant difference between males and females. The intensity of the infection among population was 5.70 eggs per gram of stool (EPG), with significant difference between males and females. The stool positive rate and EPG in farmers and students were the highest. Among 10.66% of the males and 8.10% of the females, as well as in 23.81% of the stool positive and 8.31% of the stool negative, the parenchyma of the liver was abnormal(≥GradeⅡ),with significant difference between males and females and between the stool positive and the stool negative. The abnormal rate of liver parenchyma went up with the age. Conclusion Ultrasound can evaluate the health status of inhabitants with schistosomiasis japonica and improve the compliance rate of residents to praziquantel chemotherapy.

ObjectiveTo observe the dynamics of antibodies and protection against Schistosoma japonicum infections in buffaloes after immunized with recombinant 26 kDa glutathione S transferase (reSjc26GST). Methods Buffaloes in 2 villages endemic for schistosomiasis japonica were selected as test and control groups, respectively. In test group initially 96 buffaloes were vaccinated with reSjc26GST, and 90 buffaloes in the control group did not experience vaccination. The indicators included levels of antibodies to reSjc26GST in buffaloes before and after infection with S japonicum and changes in infection rate. Results Specific antibodies, which showed a trend of trapezoid increase, were induced in buffaloes after immunized with reSjc26GST. Twenty months after immunization, the infection rate of the test group was decreased by 62 2% when compared with that before vaccination, and by 67 7% when compared with that of the control in the corresponding period. Conclusion Specific antibodies and a certain extent of protection were induced in buffaloes after immunized with reSjc26GST, which played an significant role in ameliorating morbidity.

Objective:To investigate different sleep duration and glucose and lipid metabolism levels in residents of a community in Urumqi. Methods:Using the 2 049 residents′ data of chronic metabolic disease in a community of Urumqi collected in May 2017, 1 822 subjects aged between 19-80 years with complete information were enrolled, their blood pressure, waist circumference, height, weight, body mass index were measured and recorded. Using oral glucose tolerance test to measure fasting and 2 h after meal plasma glucose, uric acid, HbA 1C, total cholesterol, triglyceride, low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C), high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) levels were all tested. Results:(1)There were 363 (19.9%), 1 349 (74.0%), and 110 (6.1%) respondents with sleep time≤6.0, 6.1 to 8.0, and>8.0 h/d, respectively. There were statistically significant differences in age, education, and family income in groups with different sleep time ( P<0.05), while their gender, smoking status, and exercise status were not statistically significant ( P>0.05). The rates of overweight, obesity, abdominal obesity, high uric acid, and hypertension in people with different sleep durations were statistically different ( P<0.01). The rates of the above indicators were higher in the group of sleep time≤6.0 h/d than the other two groups. (2) Differences in diastolic blood pressure, systolic blood pressure, body mass index, abdominal circumference, total cholesterol, and LDL-C levels were statistically significant among different sleep duration groups ( P<0.05). Further comparisons of the above indicators among three groups with different sleep durations were performed ( P<0.05). The levels of the above indicators in the sleep time≤6.0 h/d group were higher than those in the other two groups. There were no significant differences in fasting blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, uric acid, triglyceride, and HDL-C among the three groups. (3) Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that groups whether or not adjusted of age, family income, and education level, sleep time≤6.0 h/d was related to abdominal obesity, and sleep time≤6.0 h/d was be a risk factor for abdominal obesity [Unadjusted: OR=1.48(95% CI1.04-2.08); Adjusted: OR=1.65(95% CI1.18-2.32; P<0.05]. Conclusion:Sleep time ≤6.0 h/d is associated with abdominal obesity, and sleep time≤6.0 h/d may be a risk factor for abdominal obesity.

Objective To investigate the related risk factors of contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI)after cerebrovascular intervention. Methods The clinical data of 5423 patients performed cerebrovascular angiography and intervention at the Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery,Guangdong People′s Hospital from January 2005 to December 2013 were analyzed retrospectively. The patients who underwent cerebrovascular angiography and intervention were evaluated and screened. A clinical history database was established. All the selected patients used iodixanol,an isotonic contrast agent. The occurrence of CI-AKI was used as an endpoint. The patients were divided into either a CI-AKI group or a non CI-AKI group. A multivariate Logistic regression model was used to analyze the risk factors associated with the occurrence of CI-AKI. Results A total of 4164 patients were finally enrolled, including 137 had CI-AKI. The incidence of CI-AKI was 3. 3%. The results of multivariate Logistic regression showed that age >60 years (OR,1. 965,95%CI 1. 244-3. 136),baseline estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR)<60mL/(min·1. 73 m2)(OR,4. 163,95%CI 2. 422-5. 873),diabetes (OR,3. 140,95%CI 1. 983-3. 902),and anemia (OR,1. 524,95%CI 1. 226 -3. 253)were the influencing factors for occurring CI-AKI after cerebrovascular angiography and intervention. Conclusion Chronic kidney disease (eGFR<60 mL/[min·1. 73 m2 ]),diabetes, anemia, and old age (age >60 years)are the independent risk factors for occurring CI-AKI after cerebrovascular angiography and intervention.

The clinical data of 330 patients with primary aldosteronism (PA) from January 2006 to March 2010 were retrospectively analyzed. The prevalence of 1, 2, and 3 stage hypertension in these subjects was 3.64%,20. 91%, and 75.45 %, respectively. Of all PA patients, 89.09% were young adults and 81.82% were overweight or obese. There was a marked preponderance of male patients in the overweight or obese group ( P<0. 01 ). The incidence of hypokalemia was 32. 12%. The concentration of serum potassium was not associated with the disease course. Logistic regression showed that the concentration of plasma aldosterone was an independent risk factor of hypokalemia in PA patients( P<0. 01 ). 79. 09% PA patients presented the plasma aldosterone level over 12 ng/dl and the renin activity level of less than 1 ng · ml-1 · h-1. The aldosterone-to-rennin activity ratio was >20 in 94.24% of the patients with PA.
