Objective To observe the manifestation of fundus angiographs of polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV). Methods Twelve PCV patients involved 7 males and 5 females aging from 40 to 69 year old (average 56.4). Fundus examination, fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA), and indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) were performed on 12 patients (12 eyes) with PCV, out of whom 5 underwent optical coherenece tomography (OCT). Results In 12 eyes, deep and (or) superficial hemorrhage and yellow hard exudations were found, including orange-red lesions in 6 and pre-retinal hemorrhage in 2. The results of FFA discovered orange-red spotty fluorescence in 6 eyes and choroidal vascular network in 4 eyes. At the late phase, leakage of polypoidal hyperfluorescence spot in all of the eyes except 2 without leakage were found. The images of ICGA showed typical dotted or clustered polypoidal hyperfluorescence in 12 eyes at the late phase. OCT disclosed protrusion of the retinal pigment epitelium (RPE) with a bumpy surface at polypoidal structure in 4 eyes and no change in 1 eye. Conclusions PCV mainly affects the elderly persons and mostly on unilateral eyes. Macular hemorrhage, serous RPED, and (or) neuroepithelial detachment with yellow hard exudations are the main manifestations. Branching choroidal vascular net with ployplike terminal anourysmal dilations can be discovered in FFA and ICGA.

International Eye Science 2014;(10):1895-1897
AIM:To find an efficient and simple surgical procedure of the external dacryocystorhinostomy ( EXT- DCR) in the treatment of chronic dacryocystitis.
METHODS:A total of 270 cases were performed in this retrospective study. A comparison of clinical effects and hemorrhage complications between the experimental group, in which 189 eyes of 167 patients that underwent traditional EXT-DCR without packing, and the control group, in which 121 eyes of 103 patients that underwent traditional EXT-DCR with Vaseline gauze were performed. The postoperative follow-up ranged from 6 to 36mo ( the mean follow-up was 15±3. 6mo).
RESULTS: There were no significant differences in the curative rates between the two groups (97. 9% vs 97. 5%, P>0. 05). But the incidence rate of moderate or severe postoperative nasal bleeding was lower in the experimental group (15. 9%, 30 eyes) than the control group (31. 4%, 38 eyes) and P<0. 01.
CONLUSION: The traditional EXT - DCR without packingis an effective procedure and is more effective in reducing moderate or severe postoperative bleeding when the intraoperative anastomose and the postoperative drainage are well done and the intraoperative bleeding is well controlled.

MicroRNAs(miRNAs)are a class of small RNA molecules which play a pivotal role in the regulation of genes involved in diverse processes.Recently, many viral-encoded miRNAs have been discovered, which suggests that viruses also use this fundamental mode of gene regulation.Although the functions of most viral- encoded miRNAs are unknown, some of them are involved in evading CTL,mediating latent infection, apoptosis suppression, etc.Uncovering the role of viral miRNAs in the pathopoiesis offers an immense opportunity not only to develope effective antiviral therapies, but also to identifying novel molecular targets for developing antiviral reagents. Therefore, recent progress on vmiRNAs was reviewed.

China Biotechnology 2006;0(02):-
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a newly identified class of non-protein-coding small RNAs that play important roles in multiple biological processes. Recent evidence indicates that the expression of many miRNAs is both temporally and spatially regulated by RNA editing, differential processing and tissue-specific enhancers, and the potential for ultimately designing molecular medicines based on the modulation of miRNAs seems good. A better understanding of the mechanism which regulates miRNAs is very helpful to reveal the pathogenesis of some diseases, discover novel molecular targets for treatment by interference, and develop an effective gene therapy. Therefore, the latest progress in the mechanism regulating miRNAs is summarized.

Piroxicam has polymorphism. Different crystalline forms can exhibit different physicochemical properties and biological activities. Analysis of the intermolecular interactions is essential to reveal the formation mechanism and differences of polymorphs. In this paper, Hirshfeld surface analysis and semi-empirical methods were used to calculate and analyze the intermolecular interactions in seven polymorphic forms of piroxicam. The results show that the Hirshfeld surface analysis method can clearly and intuitively reveal the intermolecular interactions, among which H…H, O…H/H…O and N…H/H…N interactions account for 95% of the total energy. There are differences in the proportion and distribution of the forces of different crystal forms. The energy calculation shows that the lattice energy of the hydrate is significantly lower than that of the anhydrous forms, and in the specific energy distribution, the contribution of the dispersion force is the most prominent. Further interaction energy analysis was found that within the distance of 3.8 Å from the center of the piroxicam molecule, different crystalline forms of piroxicam molecule have different interaction energies with surrounding molecules.

OBJECTIVE To study the correlation between the serum-specific IgE and IL-13 single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) among patients with allergic rhinitis who were allergic to Dermataphagoides pteronyssinus(Derp1) or Artemisia Pollen. METHODS Sixty nine patients who were allergic to Derp1 and 87 patients who were allergic to pollen were examined for detecting serum-specific IgE by a fluorescent enzyme immunoassay. The IL-13 SNP of the coding sequence (Arg130Gln) and the promoter region -1112(C/T)was measured by polymerase chain reaction /restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) techniques. RESULTS Among patients who were allergic to Derp1, there was a significant correlation between the IL-13 promoter -1112(C/T)SNP ,but not of Arg130Gln ,and serum-specific IgE. Among patients who were allergic to pollen, there were no significant association both of the IL-13 promoter -1112(C/T)and Arg130Gln SNPs with serum-specific IgE. CONCLUSION The results showed a significant association of the IL-13 promoter -1112(C/T)SNP with serum-specific IgE in patients who allergic to Derp1. That suggested a possible involvement of IL-13 promoter -1112(C/T)SNP in the regulation of serum-specific IgE response to Derp1 allergens.
