BACKGROUND:Currently, there are few reports on the effect of nickel-chromium (Ni-Cr) al oy porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) restoration on subgingival flora of abutment.
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of the Ni-Cr al oy PFM restoration on subgingival flora ratio of abutment.
METHODS:Nine patients (12 teeth) who suspected that Ni-Cr al oy PFM could affect their health and therefore came to hospital to ask for removal of the prosthesis were selected in this study. Their subgingival plaques of abutment were obtained before and 1 month, 3 months after the Ni-Cr al oy PFM restorations were removed, respectively, and the changes of subgingival flora were observed and analyzed by the method of denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The images of denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis in subgingival bacteria of experimental group had significant changes at 1 and 3 months after Ni-Cr al oy PFM restorations removed, furthermore, there were significant differences in the images of denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis at 1 and 3 months. In addition, the specific bands were selected from denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis image that appeared before Ni-Cr al oy PFM restorations removed and weakened or disappeared after the removal of restorations, then 16S rDNA sequence in the specific bands were analyzed. The results showed that the gene sequences of these bands were closest related to Eikenel a corrodens, Campylobacter rectus and Eubacterium saphenu. These findings indicated that the Ni-Cr al oy PFM restorations would result in the changes of the proportion of subgingival microflora and increases in the detection rates of some periodontal pathogens.

Objective To study the effects of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor benazepri1 on apoptosis and the expression of Fas and FasL in the kidney of rats with adriamycin-indued nephritic glomeruosclerosis.Methods After uninephrectomy and the injection of adriamycin induced rats model with glomerulosclerosis, benazapril(6 mg/kg) was delivered daily by gavage to the rats in therapeutic groups for 12 weeks.Apoptosis was examined by means of terminal-deoxynucleotidyl trans ferase mediated d-UTP nick end label ling(TUNEL) and immunohistochemistry was utlized to detect the expression of Fas and FasL.Software of pathological analysis quantitated the level of Fas and FasL.Results Compared with those of the control group, the kidney of model group had moresevere glomerulosclerosis, much more apoptotic cells and higher level of exprssion of Fas and FasL. The degree of glomeruloscleroais, the nuxner of apoptotic cells and the level of expression of Fas and FasL were ameliofated by benazepril treatment.Conclusion Benazepril may suppress the excessive apoptosis of kidney cell by lowering the expression of the protin correlatng apoptosis Fas and FasL,so as to postpone the process of glomeruosclerosis.

Objective To investigate whether delayed treatment with exogenous kallikrein on neurogenesis after focal cortical infarction in stroke-prone renovascular hypertensive rats (RHRSP). Methods Seventy-two RHRSP were divided into 3 groups. Twenty-four rats were given human tissue kallikrein ( 1.6 × 10-2 PNAU/kg) and 24 rats were given vehicle through tail venous daily for 2 or 6 days consecutively starting at the 24th hour after distal middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). 24 rats underwent sham-operation. Cell proliferation was examined by using 5'-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine (BrdU, 50 mg/kg). Rats were respectively sacrificed 3, 7, 14 or 28 days after MCAO. Results Treatment with kallikrein significantly increased the number of BrdU+ cells in the ipsilateral subventricular zone (SVZ) (304.0±73. 9 vs 167.0±32.2 vs 56.0±12.2 at 7 d after operation, q =7.165, 12.916 and 5.751 respectively,all P<0.05) and in the peri-infarction region (490.0±82.0 vs 308.0±51.5 vs 49.0± 9.5 at 7 d after operation, q = 7.920, 19.184 and 11.264 respectively, all P < 0.01 ), and increased the number of BrdU+/DCX+ cells (225.0±13.6 vs 98.0±9.6 vs 23.0±5.6 at 7 d after operation, q = 30.731,48.735 and 18.004 respectively,all P < 0.01) in the ipsilateral SVZ compared with the vehicle group or the sham-operated group, which began on the 3 day, peaked in 7--14 days after MCAO, and then gradually decreased. Compared with the vehicle group, exogenous kallikrein markedly increased the number of BrdU+/NeuN+ cells (21.0±3.4 vs 13.0±2.6 at 14 d, P =0.001 ) in the peri-infarction region after MCAO. The kallikrein group showed a better functional improvement than the vehicle group after stroke ( all P < 0.05). Conclusion Our study suggests that administration of exogenous kallikrein at 24 h after cortical infarction enhances the SVZ neuroblasts proliferation, migration, and selective differentiation and improves functional recovery after stroke.

The chemical constituents of 95% ethanol extract of Melastoma dodecandrum were isolated and purified by chromatography on silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, and HPLC, to obtain thirteen compounds eventually. On the basis of their physico-chemical properties and spectroscopic data, these compounds were identified as quercetin (1), quercetin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (2), quercetin-3-O-(6"-O-p-coumaroyl) -β-D-glucopyranoside (3), kaempferol (4), kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (5), kaempferol-3-O- [2",6"-di-O-(E)-coumaroyl]-β-D-glucopyra-noside (6), luteolin (7), luteolin-7-O-(6"-p-coumaroyl) -β-D-glucopyranoside (8), apigenin (9), apigenin-7-(6"-acetyl-glucopyranoside) (10) , naringenin (11), isovitexin (12), and epicatechin-[8,7-e] -4β-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-3,4-dyhydroxyl-2(3H)-pyranone (13). Objective To investigate the secondary degeneration of corticospinal tracts in cervical spinal cord following a recently cerebral infarct with diffusion tensor imaging(DTI) and its potential impact on neurological recovery.Methods Twenty-six patients with a focal cerebral infract underwent DTI at the first week, the fourth and twelfth week after stroke onset, respectively.The NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), the Fugl-Meyer motor scale (FM) and the barthel index (BI) were used to evaluate the neurological function before every DTI.Twenty-six gender and age match healthy volunteers underwent DTI three times at same time points.The DTI parameters of mean diffusivity (MD) and fractional anisotropy (FA value) were measured at the cervical spinal cord and initial lesion.Results Compared to the controls, the FA values of the contralateral side corticospinal tracts in the cervical spinal cord in patients significantly decreased at every observed time point (P<0.01).In patients group, the FA values of the contralateral side corticospinal tracts in the cervical spinal cord decreased progressively from 1~(st) week to 12~(th) week (P<0.01), but MD remained unchange.The absolute value of the percent reduction of FA value of the contralateral side corticospinal tracts in the cervical spinal cord in patients associated negatively with the absolute value of the percent change of NIHSS and FM (P<0.05), but not with the absolute value of the percent change of BI(P>0.05).Conclusions Conclusions: The secondary degeneration of the corticospinal tracts resulted from cerebral infarction may extend to the cervical spinal cord.Which may last at lest three months and thus hamper the process of neurological recovery.

A bacterial strain which could grow well on the substrate of PAEs as the sole source of carbon and energy was isolated from contaminated sludge in the river of WeiFang in ShangDong province and it was designated as JDC-3. Based on the morphology,biophysical and biochemical properties as well as molecular characteristics,this isolate was preliminarily identified as Delftia sp.. A fragment of phthalate dioxygenase gene was successfully amplified from the genus of Delftia for the first time using a set of degenerate primers. Meanwhile,the degradation capability of JDC-3 was determined by HPLC using DMP as test substrate. The results showed that the optimal pH and temperature were at 7.0～8.0 and 30?C～35?C respectively. The degradation kinetics of JDC-3 was studied in different initial DMP concentration under optimal conditions. The results indicated that the degradation dynamic equation was ln C =-0.06837 t + A when DMP concentration was lower than 300 mg/L,with half life of 12.48 h. The degradation rate decreased and half life of JDC-3 prolonged as the initial concentration kept on increasing.
