Objective To describe the MRI features and pathologic findings of biliary cystadenocarcinoma(BCAC)and to assess the diagnostic value of MRI in those tumors.Methods Five cases of BCAC were collected.All cases were proved by pathology.Non-enhanced and multiphase-enhanced MRI were performed in all cases.MRCP were performed in two cases.The MRI features of the five cases were reviewed retrospectively and correlated with pathologic findings.Results Histological evidence demonstrated five cases of BCAC.Four cases were solitary,whereas the other case was multifocal.All cases were solid and cystic lesions.Two cases were unilocular,whereas the other three cases were multilocular. Multiple mural nodules and irregular thickening cystic walls were presented in all cases.The cystic parts of the lesions were homogeneous in signal intensity and showed no enhancement after contrast administration in the five BCAC.Septa were present in three BCAC with multilocular cyst.On MRCP the bile duct dilatation was found in two BCAC.Conclusion MRI can reveal the characteristic findings of BCAC and accurate preoperative diagnosis can be made.

BACKGROUND:The decel ularized porcine smal intestinal submucosa is a kind of bioactive extracel ular matrix, which is mainly composed of col agen, glycoprotein, proteoglycan and rich in col agen, glycosaminoglycan and various growth factors, and these components play an important role in promoting the differentiation and proliferation of tissue cel s. OBJECTIVE:To prepare the injectable smal intestinal submucosa and to investigate its co-culture with rat adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cel s in vitro. METHODS:The injectable smal intestinal submucosa and rat adipose-derived stem cel s were prepared. Cel counting kit-8 test for cel proliferation:Passage 3 adipose-derived stem cel s were seeded onto the injectable smal intestinal submucosa (experimental group) and cel s cultured under normal condition as control group. The cel proliferation was observed at 1, 3, 5 and 7 days of incubation. Live/dead staining test for the survival of cel s:Passage 3 adipose-derived stem cel s were respectively cultured in the injectable smal intestinal submucosa extracts (experimental group) and complete culture medium (control group). Cel survival was determined at 1, 3, 5 and 7 days of culture. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Scanning electron microscope oval and strip adipose-derived stem cel s adhered onto the material. The absorbance values in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group at 1 and 5 days of incubation (P<0.05). Cel survival:The number of cel s appeared to be in a rising trend with time in both two groups;after 1-day co-culture, al cel s in the two groups survived. Then dead cel s appeared in both two groups, showing no significant difference. These results show that the injectable smal intestinal submucosa exhibits a good cytocompatibility.

Objective To evaluate the possible molecular pathogenesis of intractable temporal lobe epilepsy. The potassium ion channel gene KCNJ4 encodes one of the subfamilies of Kir channels, Kir2.3 subunit, which may play an important role in modulating neuronal excitation. Interference in the function or expression of this gene would cause disturbance of ionic concentrations, thus leading to seizure activity. Methods Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Western-blot analysis were used to measure the expression alterations of KCNJ4 mRNA as well as its protein product Kir2.3 channel in temporal cortex samples from patients who had undergone temporal lobectomy for intractable epilepsy (n=12). Tissue from 10 subjects who did not have epilepsy served as controls. Objective:To observe chicken typeⅡcollagen-induced arthritis( CIA) in serum of mice with the dynamic changes of IL-27,IL-17,IL-10. Methods: 54 DBA1/J mice were randomly divided into control group(n=6) and model group(n=12), according to the progress of CIA mouse course early,middle and late(7,14,and 35 days after booster immunization) ,taking the eyeball for blood and separating the serum under sterile condition. The dynamic levels of cytokines IL-27,IL-17,IL-10 were detected by flow cy-tometry. Results:The level of IL-27 in the model group was significantly declined in the the progress of CIA mouse course early and middle(P<0. 05,P<0. 01) compared with the control group,but there was no significant difference between late disease and control group(P> 0. 05);the level of IL-17 in the disease early and late was no significant difference(P> 0. 05) compared with the control group,while in the mid course significantly higher than control group(P<0. 05) during the course of disease. The level of IL-10 showed no difference from the experiment beginning(P> 0. 05). Conclusion: IL-27,IL-17,IL-10 paticipate in the pathogenesis of CIA and their alterations at different stages of the disease have a relation to the development of arthritis.

Now organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) bioremediation mainly means microbial bioremediation. However, phytoremediation has an advantage over microbial bioremediation because phytoremediation is safer and costs less than microbial bioremediation. Nevertheless, phytoremediation has limitations yet such as plants need better growth conditions and the efficiency of phytoremediation is lower. All these have confined the application of phytoremediation. Progresses of microbial bioremediation and phytoremediation of OPs were reviewed and OPs degrading enzymes and their organism sources, which are known by now, were summarized. Moreover, there are five important ways to enhance the efficiency of phytoremediation of OPs. They are culling plants, studying the action between soil and OPs, studying the genes that can resist or get rid of OPs, setting up the combined system of microbial bioremediation and phytoremediation and using degrading enzymes secreted selectively by roots.

Litsea cubeba is one of aromatic medicinal plant belonging to family Lauraceae. The roots, stems and fruits of L. cubeba have been widely applied as folk medicines in some districts in China for relieving rheumatism and cold, regulating Qi (meridian) to alleviate pain. Previous studies revealed that this species contains major alkaloids, in specific aporphines, and minor flavonoids, lignans as well. Related pharmacological investigations demonstrated its activities and clinical applications on cardiovascular diseases, anti-cancer, against rheumatoid arthritis, relieving asthma and anti-allergic effects, as anti-oxidants, and so on. As an effort for further exploration of this bioactive ingredients and potential drug development, this paper summarizes most phytochemical and pharmacological results. Further, future prospects are also included.

Hypodermin C (HC) cDNA was amplified from recombinant pGEM - T/HC, cloned in frame with the signal sequence in yeast vector pPIC9k. The plasmid was linerarized and transformed into Pichia pastoris GS115 strain by electroporation method. Recombinant strain was screened by G418 resistant, and further confirmed by PCR. The recombinant strain which contains insert was induced in the medium containing 0.5% methanol. The supernatant was collected and then purified by anion exchange chromatography. SDS-PAGE indicated that the target protein is around 28kD. Western-blot showed it can react with rabbit-anti HC serum. Gelatin substrate SDS-PAGE displayed it had enzyme activity. Provided a method to produce enough antigens for carrying out extensive immunological analyses.
