Objective To investigate the protective effects of 1-hydroxy-2, 3, 5-trimethoxyxanthone (QGS) on acute lung injury of mice induced by ip lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Methods Mice were pretreated with QGS for 7 d. Murine models of acute lung injury were duplicated by injection of LPS 20 mg/kg intraperitoneally. In 12 h, the lung weight index was observed and the NO level in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) was measured with kits. The lung was also assessd for the expression of I-?B, inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), and cyclooxygenase-Ⅱ (COX-2) using Western blotting analysis. Lung pathological changes were also observed by HE in each group. Results The lung weight index of injury lung in mice induced by LPS was decreased in 500 mg/kg QGS group (P

It has been well known that apoptosis induction and cell cycle arrest are typical biological effects observed in cancer cells after proteasome inhibition. TH2 is a new natural xanthone analogue isolated from the resin of Garcinia hurburyi tree. Here, the cell growth inhibition of TH2 on human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line (Bel-7402) was evaluated in vitro using SRB assay. The treatment of 10 ?mol/L TH2 reduced the surviving fraction from 86% (12 h) to 17.2% (48 h). To assess whether TH2 induce apoptosis, the appearance of sub-G1 peak, a specific fraction for apoptosis was detected by flow cytometry analysis. Progressive increase in the percentage of apoptotic population was observed in a dose-and time-dependent manner. Furthermore, a cleavage of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP), a marker of early apoptosis, was observed clearly when the cells exposed to 10 ?mol/L of TH2 for 24 h by immunoblotting analysis. In vitro activities of 20 S proteasome purified from human erythrocytes on fluorogenic peptide substrates revealed that TH2 inhibited the trypsin-like, chymotrypsin-like and peptidylglutamyl peptide hydrolyzing activities in dose-dependent manner. Moreover, the turnover of tumor suppressor p53, a sign of deregulation of cell cycle progression and apoptosis induction by classical proteasome inhibitors, was disrupted in Bel-7402 cells. All these data indicate that TH2 had inhibitory effect on the proliferation of Bel-7402 cells and induction of apoptosis, which might be related to its inhibition of proteasome.

Objective To observe the efficacy and adverse reaction of ozone therapy combined with gemcitabine and cisplatin (GP) regimen in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer. Methods Fifty-five patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer were enrolled and allocated to treatment group (28 cases) and control group (27 cases). The patients in treatment group received ozone therapy combined with GP regimen, and the patients in control group received GP regimen only. The efficacy, quality of life, adverse reaction and cellular immune function after treatment was compared between two groups. Results There was no significant difference in the efficacy between two groups (P > 0.05).The quality of life after treatment in treatment group was better than that in control group (P < 0.05).The liver function damage in treatment group was lower than that in control group (P < 0.05).The cellular immune function in treatment group was stronger than that in control group (P < 0.05).Conclusion Ozone therapy combined with GP regimen can effectively alleviate adverse induced by GP regimen chemotherapy and significantly improve the quality of life in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer.

Objective To observe the therapeutic efficacy of ozone injection in treating lumbar disc herniation. Methods One hundred and four patients with CT or MRI proved lumbar disc herniation, including 144 diseased lumbar discs, were enrolled in this study. The main complains were severe pain or numbness in the low back and lower limbs. Under the X-ray guidance, a 21 G needle was punctured into the disc, followed by an injection of 4-40 ml ozone (50 ug/ml) and 40 mg prednisolone acetate into intradiscal and paravertebral space. Results All patients were followed up for 3 to 84 months with an average time of 38 months. The last follow-up check was carried out in March of 2009. The total effective rate was 77.1%, with no occurrence of any serious complications. Conclusion The percutaneous injection of medical ozone into disc and paravertebral space is an effective and safe method for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation.

Microbiology 1992;0(06):-
The leakage of genetically engineered microorganism(GEM) at the beginning of operation was the important content for ecological risk assessment when GEM was inoculated in a membrane bioreactor(MBR) for bioaugmentation. The effects of different operating conditions on leaking density and intercepting efficiency of GEM were investigated in a submerged microfiltration MBR at the beginning of operation. The interception characteristics were also discussed. The results showed that different operating conditions had different influences on intercepting efficiency:higher sludge concentration was profit for interception, while higher aeration intensity and flux had opposite effects on interception. When the inoculated density of GEM was 1.0?1010 CFU/mL,the leaking densities varied from 1.0?102 CFU/mL to 2.5?102 CFU/mL under different operating conditions at the beginning of operation and the maximum intercepting efficiency could be higher than 8 lg. The main factors determining intercepting efficiency at the beginning of operation were membrane module interception, sludge adsorption as well as suspended GEM transfer inhibition and their contribution shares under certain conditions were 82.3%,14.9% and 2.8%,respectively. Gel layer formation during MBR stable operation was helpful to increase intercepting efficiency. The contribution shares for GEM interception of membrane module, sludge and gel layer were 75.3%,10.7% and 14.0%,respectively,under certain conditions.
