The present study aims to investigate the survival, migration and differentiation of the neural stem cells (NSCs) transplanted into the hippocampus of adult rat damaged by kainic acid. Hippocampal CA1 pyramid neurons were degenerated by stereotaxical injection of kainic acid, one week later, NSCs labeled by Hoechst33342 were transplanted into the damaged hippocampus. The rats were sacrificed at 1,2,4 and 8 weeks, and the brains were examined by immunohistochemical analysis to observe the survival, migration and differentiation of the NSCs in the lesioned hippocampus. The results showed that transplanted neural stem cells migrate in the mode of chain in pyramid layer of hippocampus and most of them express the astrocytic marker of GFAP, others express the neuronal marker of MAP2. These results suggest that transplanted neural stem cells migrate in the mode of chain in pyramid layer of hippocampus. Most of them differentiate intoastrocytes, others differentiate into neurons.

Objective To assess the predictive value of serum uric acid levels for cardiovascular and all-cause mortality in a large prospective population based study. Methods The study was based on 3648 participants in Shanghai and Beijing, who were inpatients with high cardiovascular(CV) risk at baseLine (2004.7 to 2005.1),and blood was taken.Follow-up for death from cardiovascular disease and any cause was complete until January 1,2006.Results The mean follow-up was 1 years. There were 303 deaths during follow-up,of which 121 were cardiovascular.Crude mortality rates were 8.3 % for all patients,6.8% for female patients (116/1715),and 9.7% (187/1933) for male patients.Among men, patients in the lower and higher uric acid groups had increased cardiac and overall mortality risks compared with patients in the normal uric acid groups.Similar relation was found in women but not statistically significant. After adjusting for other conventional risk factors (age, diabetes, hypertension, diuretic use and smoking),baseline uric acid level was still associated with increased risk for death from cardiovascular disease (P=0.005),or death from all causes (P=0.014) Conclusion Our data suggest that abnormal serum uric acid levels are independently and significantly associated with risk of cardiovascular and all-cause mortality.(J Geriatr Cardiol 2008;5:15-20)

AIM: To investigate combination principle of Gegenqinlian Decoction through experiment of anti-diarrhea. METHODS: Propelling rate of mouse's small intestine was selected as index on the condition of ink as colour reagent, diarrhea frequence served as second index for orthoganal design on the basis of mouse's diarrhea induced by senna. RESULTS:Coptis chinensis franch and Glycyrrhiza uralensis fisch and reduce drive rate. Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi and Pueraria lobata(wild) ohwi had counteracter against Coptis chinensis franch's effect, while Glycyrrhiza uralensis fisch could enforce Coptis chinensis franch's effect.as to DI, Coptis chinensis franch had anti-diarrhea effect. Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi had counteracter against Coptis chinensis franch's effect, Pueraria lobata(wild) Ohwi could enforce Scutellari, baicalensis Georgi effect, but Glycyrrhiza uralensis fisch could enforce Coptis chinensis's effect after compounding with Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi. CONCLUSION: ~Among the combinantion of Gegenginlian Decoction, as to the pharmcological effects on anti-diarrhea, the best compound is Coptis chinensis franch and Glycyrrhiza uralensis fisch.

Objective:To investigate the effect of dexmedetomidine (DEX) on reducing urethral stimulation in patients undergoing laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery. Methods:From January 2019 to February 2020, 90 patients undergoing elective laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgery under general anesthesia in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University were selected. They were randomly divided into 3 groups: catheterization before induction (group A), catheterization during induction (group B), and catheterization after induction (group C). In group A, patients received general anesthesia after awake catheterization. In group B, intravenous injection of DEX 0.5 μg/kg was pumped for 10 minutes, followed by catheterization and induction. In group C, patients received general anesthesia and then catheterization. Visual analogue scale (VAS) score of urethral stimulation, morphine dosage and the incidence of agitation during resuscitation were recorded. The heart rate and mean arterial pressure of the three groups were compared at the time of entering the room, catheterization, tracheal intubation, entering postanesthesia care unit (PACU), about extubation and 30 minutes after extubation. Results:The fluctuation of blood pressure and heart rate in group B was significantly less than that in group A and group C at the time of extubation and 30 minutes after extubation ( P<0.05). VAS of urethral stimulation in group B [(2.9±0.9)point] was significantly lower than that in group A [(4.4±1.8)point] when catheter was indwelling ( P<0.05). After extubation, VAS in group B [(2.8±1.1)point] was significantly lower than that in group A [(3.2±1.2)point] and C [(5.2±1.8)point] ( P<0.05). The utilization rate of morphine within 24 hours after surgery in group B (10%) was significantly lower than that in the other two groups (40%, 57%), and the incidence of postoperative agitation in group A and B was lower than that in group C within PACU ( P<0.05). The satisfaction of patients in group B (86.7%) was higher than that in group A (70%) and C (46.7%). The satisfaction of PACU personnel in group A (76.7%) and B (80%) was significantly higher than that in group C (43.3%). Conclusions:Sedation with dexmedetomidine during urethral catheterization can reduce urethral stimulation during resuscitation and improve patients' and PACU staffs' satisfaction.
