Objective To investigate the technical feasibility and oncological safety of EPMR for early esophageal cancer and precancerous lesions. Methods Clinicopathological data, procedure quality and complications of 70 patients with early esophageal cancer or precancerous lesions were retrospectively ana?lysed. The technical safety and feasibility were assessed, and the complications were investigated through postoperative surveillance. The results were compared with published data from two high?quality meta?analysis studies on ESD. Results In a total of 70 patients who underwent EPMR, 35?7%( 25/70) were diagnosed as having early esophageal cancer and 64?3%( 45/70) atypical hyperplasia. And tumor size greater than 2 cm was 78?6%(55/70). The mean EPMR time was(28?31±9?49) minutes. The R0 resection rate of EPMR was 88?6%(62/70) and no perforation occurred. The bleeding rate was 21?4%(15/70). The esoph?ageal stricture rate was 1?4%( 1/70) . The recurrence rate was 2?9%( 2/70) . Compared with published ESD data from the two studies, EPMR showed shorter procedure time, lower curative rate and lower rates of stric?ture and perforation, but slightly higher rates of bleeding and recurrence. Conclusion Both EPMR and ESD are feasible and effective for early esophageal cancer and precancerous lesions. The curative results of EPMR are similar to ESD, with shorter procedure time, but higher bleeding and recurrence rates.

Aim To study the effect of gamma-hydroxybutyric acid receptor(GHBR ) on neuronal apoptosis suffering from focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats. Methods The male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 240~280 g were randomly divided into seven groups: sham operation group(sham), ischemia-reperfusion group(Isc/R) ,NCS-356 160、320、640 ?g?kg-1 group(N1、N2、N3),NCS-382 640+NCS-356 640 ?g?kg-1 group(NCS-382+N3),and nimodipine 600 ?g?kg-1 group(Nim). The middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO) model invented by Zea Longa with modifications was adopted. The experiment was divided into two parts after ischemia reperfusion for 24h:In the first part,we measured the cerebral expression of Bax, Bcl-2, Caspase-3 by immuneohistochemical method. In the second part,we measured neuronal apoptotic rate by flow cytometry in the ischemic cortex region. Results The expression rate of Bcl-2 and Bcl-2/Bax ratio of N1,N2,N3 and Nim groups were all higher than that of Isc/R group(P

Objective To evaluate the correlation of inflammatory severity between appendiceal ori-fice inflammation(AOI)and ulcerative colitis(UC). Methods A retrospective analysis of the patients who were diagnosed as UC was conducted to investigate the correlation of the severity of inflammation between AOI and UC by linear trend test. Results The detective rate of UC during the above period was 2. 3%(991/ 42 928),with the patient number of 991.Appendiceal orifice observation did not perform in 45 cases due to patients reasons. In 946 patients,260 cases were diagnosed as having AOI,which accounted for 27. 5%of the total cases examined.AOI positive rates were significantly different between groups based on endoscopic severity standard(χ2 = 27. 39,P<0. 05),which was similar in moderate and severe group[30. 2%(109/ 361) VS 29. 8%(147/ 493),P>0. 0125],both significantly higher than that in mild group[4. 3%(4/ 92),P<0. 0125]. In linear regression analysis, regression coefficient was 0. 32,χ2return = 29. 48(P<0. 05)and χ 2partial =31. 66(P<0. 05),which proved a positive correlation between the two drawn existed but not a simple linear relationship. Conclusion AOI is a sign in some active UC patients. Its severity of inflammation can reflect the degree of inflammation in UC,which may offer a terminal point when treating a slice of UC individuals and giving a signal of its relapse.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2011;29(8):681-684
Background There is no effective method to regenerate the optic nerve after injury. It has been recently reported that α-crystallin could promote the survive rate and axon regeneration of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) effectively. However, the molecular mechanism is not clear. Objective This study was to identify the site of RGCs where the exogenous α-crystallin bind to. Methods RGCs was isolated from retinas of two 2-day-old Long Evans rats and primarily cultured. The positive rate of the RGCs was assessed by counting the number of positive cells for fluorescently-labeled thy1. 1 and cy3 under the fluorescence microscope. The biotinylated exogenous α-crystallin was evaluated by direct coloration and the activity of molecular chaperones was measured by insulin test. After identifying the success of biotinylation along with the activity of molecular chaperones, biotinylated α-crystallin was co-incubated with RGCs and the cells then were reacted to fluorescently labeled avidin for the observation of binding site of exogenous α-crystallin under the laser confocal microscope. Results RGCs of 94% were survived through primary culture. The coloration of biotinylated α-crystallin labeled by the direct coloration method was more intensive, and the value of A450 descended as the decrease of biotinylated α-crystallin concentration, indicating that the α-crystallin was biotinylated successfully. The activity of molecular chaperones of biotinylated α-crystallin was significantly strong but no significant change after being biotinylated after co-incubation of RGCs with biotinylated α-crystallin. Laser confocal microscope examination revealed that co-incubated RGCs with biotinylated α-crystallin showed the red fluorescence on membrane and axon of RGCs rather than cytoplasm and nucleus. The absent response was seen in the control group. Conclusion Exogenous α-crystallin can specifically combine with the membrane of RGCs to play the biological function, but its binding mode and mechanism need further study.

Aim To investigate the possible roles of age, bodyheight, mass and body mass index(BMI) in Lumbar1-4 bone mineralcontent (L1-4BMC), L1-4 areal bone mineral density(L1-44BMD) and L1-4volumetric bone mineral apparent density(L1-4BMAD) of Chinese adoles-cents with early ankylosing spondylitis (AS). Methods Thirty-one maleChinese adolescent outpatients with early AS were included. Age (y),total body mass (kg), height(cn) and body mass index (BMI, kg/m2)of subjects were obtained. L1-44BMC(g) and L1-4 BMD(g/cm2) were e-valuated by using DEXA, and L1-4 BMAD(L1-44BMC/Area3/2, g/cm3)was subsequently calculated. Correlation and multiple regression analyseswere performed. Results Multiple regression revealed that height ( P =0.000) and BMI(P=0.009) were significantly positively related toL1-44BMC (R=0.759, Radj2=0.545, P=0.000 <0.01), and heightplayed the pivotal roles in significant correlation with L144BMC(R =0. 676 Radj2 = 0. 439, P = 0. 000) . Body mass significantly positivelycorrelated with both L-44BMD ( R = 0. 657, Radj2 = 0. 412, P = 0. 000)and L1-4BMAD (R=0.551, Radj2=0.280, P=0.001) .Therefore, height as well as BMI significantly positively correlated with L144BMC andmass was definitely associated with both L1-4BMD and L1-4BMAD in ado-lescents with early AS in this study. Conclusion Height and mass couldhave significantly positive effects on axial bone mass and densities ofadolescents with early AS.

Objective To investigate the effect of BDNF on cell injuries, cell apoptosis especially, induced by 25-35 segment of β-amyloid protein (Aβ25-35) at condensed state in PC12 cells. Methods The viability of PC12 cells, the apoptosis of PC12 cells and the expressions of Bax and Bcl-2 were detected by MTT, Annexin V-PI staining and Western blotting, respectively. Trk B receptor inhibitor K252a (200 nmol/l) was employed to observe the mechanism of 50 ng/ml BDNF on Aβ25-35 (20 μmol/L)-induced cell injury. Results BDNF (50 ng/ml) could significantly prevent the decrease of cell viability and cell apoptosis, and the increase of Bax expression and the decrease of Bcl-2 expression induced by 20 μmol/L Aβ25-35, and prevent the increase of up-regulation of Bax/Bcl-2 ratio; and these effects were blocked by K252a (200 nmol/1). Conclusion BDNF can prevent Aβ25-35-induced cell injury, cell apoptosis especially, by binding to its specific receptor Trk B.
