Advances in mechanism and application of the heating effect in breeding of microorganism are reviewed in this paper. Heat produces mutagenesis effect and screening effect. Heating mutagenesis effect is occurred through the substitution of G-C base pair induced by heat, and heating screening effect produces higher forward mutation rate induced by other mutagens.

Litsea cubeba is one of aromatic medicinal plant belonging to family Lauraceae. The roots, stems and fruits of L. cubeba have been widely applied as folk medicines in some districts in China for relieving rheumatism and cold, regulating Qi (meridian) to alleviate pain. Previous studies revealed that this species contains major alkaloids, in specific aporphines, and minor flavonoids, lignans as well. Related pharmacological investigations demonstrated its activities and clinical applications on cardiovascular diseases, anti-cancer, against rheumatoid arthritis, relieving asthma and anti-allergic effects, as anti-oxidants, and so on. As an effort for further exploration of this bioactive ingredients and potential drug development, this paper summarizes most phytochemical and pharmacological results. Further, future prospects are also included.

A phytochemical investigation on the roots and stems of Litsea cubeba led to the isolation of seven isoquinolone alkaloids. By spectroscopic analysis and comparison of their 1H and 13C-NMR data with those in literatures, these alkaloids were identified as (+)-norboldine (1), (+)-boldine (2), (+)-reticuline (3), (+)-laurotetanine (4), (+)-isoboldine (5), (+)-N-methyl-laurotetanine (6), and berberine (7), respectively. Among them, 7 was isolated from the genus for the first time. The evaluation of these compounds showed weak anti-inflammatory activity against NO production in RAW 267.4 and BV-2 cells.

Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics 2019;17(6):590-602
The lethal chronic airway infection of the cystic fibrosis (CF) patients is predisposed by colonization of specific CF-philic pathogens or the CF microbiomes, but key processes and reasons of the microbiome settlement in the patients are yet to be fully understood, especially their survival and metabolic dynamics from normal to diseased status under treatment. Here, we report our meta-analysis results on CF airway microbiomes based on metabolic networks reconstructed from genome information at species level. The microbiomes of CF patients appear to engage much more redox-related activities than those of controls, and by constructing a large dataset of anti-oxidativestress (anti-OS) genes, our quantitative evaluation of the anti-OS capacity of each bacterial species in the CF microbiomes confirms strong conservation of the anti-OS responses within genera and also shows that the CF pathogens have significantly higher anti-OS capacity than commensals and other typical respiratory pathogens. In addition, the anti-OS capacity of a relevant species cor-relates with its relative fitness for the airways of CF patients over that for the airways of controls. Moreover, the total anti-OS capacity of the respiratory microbiome of CF patients is collectively higher than that of controls, which increases with disease progression, especially after episodes of acute exacerbation and antibiotic treatment. According to these results, we propose that the increased OS in the airways of CF patients may play an important role in reshaping airway micro-biomes to a more resistant status that favors the pre-infection colonization of the CF pathogens for a higher anti-OS capacity.

?AlM: To investigate repeatability and accuracy of a latest Keratograph for evaluating the tear film stability and to compare its measurements with that of traditional examination methods.
?METHODS: The results of noninvasive tear film break-up time ( Nl-BUT ) including the first tear film break-up time ( BUT-f ) and the average tear film break-up time ( BUT - ave ) were measured by Keratograph. The repeatability of the measurements was evaluated by coefficient of variation ( CV ) and intraclass correlation coefficient ( lCC) . Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test was used to compare Nl-BUT with fluorescein tear film break-up time ( FBUT) to confirm the correlation between Nl-BUT and FBUT, Schirmer l test values. Bland-Altman analysis was used to evaluate consistency.
?RESULTS: The study recruited 48 subjects ( 48 eyes ) (mean age 38. 7±15. 2 years). The CV and lCC of BUT-f were respectively 12. 6% and 0. 95, those of BUT-ave were 9. 8% and 0. 96. The value of BUT-f was lower than that of FBUT. The difference had statistical significance ( 6. 16±2. 46s vs 7. 46±1. 92s, P<0. 01). There was significant positive correlation between Nl-BUT and FBUT, Schirmer l test values ( P< 0. 01 ). The scope of 95% limits of agreement (LoA) was 4. 46s in BUT-f and FBUT, while the scope of LoA was 3. 64s in BUT-ave and FBUT.
?CONCLUSlON: Keratograph can provide Nl-BUT data that has a better repeatability and reliability, which has great application prospects in diagnosis and treatment of dry eye and refractive corneal surgery.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the short-term and long-term curative effect of microvascular decompression sensory root of trigeminal nerve combing (MVD + SRTNC) by post-sigmoid approach as well as the complications in these operations.
METHODSThe data from 138 idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia (TN) patients treated with MVD + STRNC that followed up 33 months to 58 months was analyzed.
RESULTSImmediate relief from pain occurred in 136 patients (98.6%). On Kaplan-Meier analysis, cumulative proportion effectiveness at the end of 25 months decreased to 91.4%, and 85.8% from 49 months to 58 months. There were cases of 63.83% and 19.15% with slight and midrange hypoesthesia after surgery but majority recovered at the end of 3-58 months (P < 0.01). No serious hypoesthesia occurred. The complications including leakage of cerebrospinal fluid, herpes and headache caused by high intracranial pressure, were observed in 4 cases (2.90%), 36 cases (26.09%) and 3 cases (2.17%), respectively. Two cases (1.43%) died of cerebral hemorrhage.
CONCLUSIONSThe proposed surgical strategy of standard MVD plus sensory root of trigeminal nerve combing was a good strategy option for TN, but It was important for surgeons to think highly of the risks of the surgery.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2019;40(7):1021-1023
Objective:
To investigate the status of eating disorders among overweight and obese adolescents as well as provide the basis for developing obesity precautionary and eating disorders.
Methods:
910 adolescents of grade 4 to 6 in primary schools and grade 1 to 3 in junior middle schools were recruited in Bengbu by cluster random sampling to examine the association between obesity and eating disorders.
Results:
A total of 203 children (22.3%) were overweight and obese, 547 children (60.1%) were normal weight and 160 children (17.6%) were low weight. The prevalence of overweight and obese in boys were significantly higher than those in girls (30.6% vs. 13.0%; χ2=40.55, P<0.01). Compared with normal weight group and low weight group, the scores of drive for thinness (DT), body dissatisfaction (BD), low self-esteem (LSE) and eating disorder risk composite (EDRC) were significantly higher in overweight and obese group (P<0.05). There was a positive association between the scores of DT(r=0.19), BD(r=0.30), LSE(r=0.09), interceptive deficits (ID) (r=0.08) and EDRC (rs=0.11) with body mass index (BMI)(P<0.05).
Conclusion
Eating disorders were associated with overweight and obesity of adolescents. A targeted strategies and measures should be conducted.
