Objective To explore the clinical effects of treating acute radioactive stomatitis with Xiufu Decoction by mouth-washing and oral-taking. Methods All 108 cancer patients were recruited into a treatment group (n=56) and a control group (n=52). The treatment group was treated with Xiufu Decoction for 15 days, and the control group was treated with Nystatin tabletsfor 15 days, 3 times/day. Results There was significant difference between the two groups in odynolysis time, the control of mycotic stomatitis, life condition, and overall effects (P<0.01 or P<0.05). All patients in the treatment group completed the whole course of radiotherapy; while 5 patients in the control group suspended the radiotherapy due to serious mouth ulcer. Conclusion Xiufu Decoction has the functions of enhancing immunity, fixing wound surface, relieving pain, improving diet and sleep, raising life quality, and safeguarding the process of radiation therapy, besides the decoction is safe and without toxic effect.

Objective To screen the target genes that contribute to cisplatin resistance in ovarian cancer treatment. Methods Gene expression and methylation profiles of ovarian cancer cells that were sensitive or resistant to cisplatin with accession number GSE15709 were downloaded from GEO database. Differential expressed and methylated genes were identi?fied through associating packages in R. DAVID database to screen the enriched GO terms and pathways of the different ex?pressed genes between A2780 and A2780/DDP. Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) of different gene was performed against DAVID database. Genes that exhibited difference in both expression and methylation profiles between the two types of ovarian cancer cells as well as genes that present contradictory profile between expression and methylation were verified via qRT-PCR. Results We found 416 different expressed genes and 281 methylated genes between the two types of ovari?an cancer cells respectively. These differential genes were rich in pathways of cell cycle, DNA replication, nucleus division , p53 signaling , and negative regulation of protein modification process etc. Four genes demonstrated contradictory profile be?tween expression and methylation in the two types of ovarian cancer cells and were verified by qRT-PCR. Conclusion Combination of bioinformatics and molecular biology is useful in the identification of target genes that contribute to resis?tance of cisplatin in ovarian cancer treatment and further reveal molecular mechanism behind it.

Purpose:To investigate the type of surgery appropriate for substernal benign thyroid tumor. Methods:A study of 19 substernal benign thyroid tumors operated between 1990 and 1999 was made. Surgery via cervical collar incision were performed in all cases. Results:Among them 4 cases was adenoma, 16 cases goiter. There were no complications except for 1 case with recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis. Conclusions:Surgery via cervical collar incision for substernal benign thyroid tumors is safe.

Objective To investigate the expression of nerve tissue protein S-100(S-100)and gap junctional protein connexin 43(Cx43) in rat adenohypophyseal folliculo stellate cells(FSCs) under the influence of ovariectomized osteoporosis(OVX-OP) and estrogen replacement therapy(ERT). Methods Sixty 10 month old female rats were randomly divided into sham operation control group(Sham), ovariectomy group (OVX) and ovariectomy+ERT group (OVX+ERT). L4-6 bone mineral density(BMD) of the animals in Sham group and OVX group were measured by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry(DEXA) at the end of 6 weeks after operation. From 7th week, rats in OVX+ERT group were treated with nilestriol(1 mg?kg -1?week-1) for 6 weeks. Rat L4-6 BMD in OVX+ERT group were measured at the end of 12 weeks after operation. Expression of S-100 and Cx43 in FSCs was detected using immunofluorescent histochemistry and laser scanning confocal microscopy(LSCM). Objective To investigate the effects of rapamycin eluting stent(Cypher~(TM)) and metal bare stent on the prognosis and C-reactive protein(CRP) in elderly patients with acute myocardial infarction(AMI).(Methods The) immediate angiographic and clinic follow-up outcomes of 45 elderly patients with AMI reciving Cypher~(TM) and bare stent were retrospectively analyzed.CRP levels in Cypher~(TM) and bare stent groups were determined before implantation,6 h,1 d,7 d and 30 d after implantation.Clinical follow-up and major coronary events analysis were developed after operation.Results 27 rapamycin eluting stents were implanted in patients of Cypher~(TM) group and(26 bare) stents were implanted in patients of bare stent group.The Cypher~(TM) stents were successfully implanted with 100%.In patients of Cypher~(TM) group,no serious complications were found in the term of operation and in hospital.There was no restenosis,revascularization and events.In patients of bare stent group,except for(1 patients) with sudden death,angina pectoris occurred in 2 patients,repeat angiography showed that there were new lesions in other coronary arteries of these patients.Restenosis attacked in 2 patients.The concentrations of CRP in Cypher~(TM) and bare stent groups 6 h and 7 d after operation were much higher than that of(pre-operation (P

[Objective] To investigate the clinical efficacy of nasal endoscopic assisted by-mouth low-temperature plasma radiofrequency ablation for treating the children with adenoid hypertrophy.[Methods] Seventy patients with adenoid hypertrophy were divided by random digits table method into treatment group and control group with 35 cases each.The patients in control group underwent traditional by-mouth adenoidectomy,while the patients in treatment group were treated with nasal endoscopic assisted by-mouth low-temperature plasma radiofrequency ablation.The operative time and intraoperative blood loss in two groups were calculated.The children were followed up for 6-12 months and the clinical efficacy of snoring,nasal obstruction and hearing and the postoperative complications were observed.[Results]The intrsoperative blood loss in treatment group was significantly lower than that in control group[(2.23±0.74)ml vs.(24.58±8.19)ml](t=19.733,P ＜ 0.01).The total efficiency of snoring,nasal obstruction and hearing in treatment group was 91.4％(32/35),82.9％(29/35)and 77.1％(27/35),respectively,and which was significantly higher than that in control group[68.6％(24/35),62.9％(22/35)and 57.1％(20/35)](x2 =5.354,5.293,5.421,P＜0.01).There,was no residual adenoid and adenoidal hypertrophy recurrence in treatment group,while the postoperative residual adenoid rate in control group was 91.4％(32/35),the adenoidal hypertrophy recurrence rate was 20.0％(7/35).There was significant difference in postoperative complication incidence between two groups(x2 =9.391,P ＜ 0.01).[Conclusions] Nasal endoscopic assisted by-mouth low-temperature plasma radiofrequency ablation for treating the children with adenoid hypertrophy has better clinical efficacy,less intraoperative blood loss,no postoperative residual and other complications.It is an ideal method for treating the children with adenoid hypertrophy and worthy of clinical application.

Objective To investigate the present situation and outcome of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for pediatric in-hospital cardiopulmonary arrest and to analyze the prognostic risk factors.Methods Data were collected from October 2008 till October 2011 using Ustein style.Patients older than 28 days who received CPR were evaluated.Returning of spontaneous circulation(ROSC) more than 24 hours was the primary outcome.Neurological outcome was assessed by pediatric cerebral performance categories half year after discharge.Results Of the 36 patients,15 (41.7％) achieved sustained ROSC.Seven (19.4％) patients survived to discharge.Single factor analysis indicated that the beginning heart rhythm,defibrillation and original disease were significantly different between the two groups(P ＜0.05).The beginning heart rote of the patient in ROSC ＞ 24 h group was mostly sinus bradycardia.Patients who need defibrillation had bad prognosis.Patients with heart disease had a lower rate of ROSC ＞ 24 h.At half year follow-up study,4 patients had 1 or 2 score,1 patient had 4 and 1 had 5 score in the pediatric cerebral performance categories scales.Condusion The successful rate of CPR in our hospital was the same as that in developed country.The beginning heart rhythm,defibrillation and original disease were associated with the outcome.Most of the patients who survived to discharge had a good neurological outcome.
