Objective To study the multi-slice spiral CT (MSCT) manifestations of septic pulmonary embolism(SPE) in order to get a better understanding of the disease,Methods The MSCT manifestations of 12 patients with septic pulmonary embolism were retrospectively analyzed and compared with chest radiograph. Results Of the 12 patients,Chest radiograph and CT scanning showed multiple peripheral pulmonary nodules in 8 and 12 cases,a feeding vessel sigu(0,9 cases),cavitations(6,10 cases) and wedge-shaped opacities(4,7 cases),focal infiltrates(2,4 cases),air cyst(2,5 cases),pleural lesions (3,6 cases),hilar or mediastinal lymphadenopathy(0,3 cases).Peripheral or subpleural zones were most commonly affected (8,12 cases).CT was more useful in revealing nodules and a feeding vessel sign.Multiplanar reconstructions (MPR),maximum intensity projection (MIP) showed that most of these vessels passed around nodules and wedge-shaped lesions.MPR showed regular nodular margin. Conclusion SPE presents with variable and often nonspecific clinical and radiographic features.MPR and MIP showed the features of nodules and feeding vessels better. The diagnosis is usually suggested by the presence of a predisposing factor, febrile illness, and CT findings of multiple, periphery pulmonary nodules, with orwithout cavitation and a feeding vessel sign.

Journal of Practical Radiology 2009;25(12):1745-1747,1764
Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of 64-row VCT coronary angiography(CTA) in diagnosing coronary artery disease. Methods 64-row VCT coronary angiography(CTA) and cathter coronary angiography(CAG) were performed in 173 patients with suspected coronary artery disease. All images were analysed at GE AW4.3 workstation, the constructed images included maximum intensity projection(MIP),mlti-planar reconstruction(MPR) and volume rendering(VR).The results were compared with that of CAG.Results 746 segments of coronary artery with diameter >1.5 mm were showed by CTA in 173 patients. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of the CTA in detecting coronary arterial stenosis were 94.15%(193/203),95.90% and 89.77% and 97.90% respectively.Statistical analysis using a 2-related χ~2 test showed that there were no obvious differences in diagnosing coronary arterial stenosis between CTA and CAG(χ~2=1.58,P>0.05) and in evaluating the stenosis degree of coronary artery(Kappa=0.890,P<0.001).Conclusion 64-row VCT has important clinical value in screening coronary arterial disease and in following-up post operational effectiveness of coronary stent implantation and vascular bypass.

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2003;0(11):-
AIM To investigate the effects of melatonin (MT) on glutathione peroxidase(GPx), superoxide dismutase(SOD) activities and malondialdehyde(MDA) contents in the cerebrum of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion gerbils, so as to explore the protective mechanisms of MT. METHODS Cerebral ischemia-reperfusion model was made by 10 min occlusion of bilateral carotid arteries of gerbil. MT was administered intraperitoneally 30 min prior to the onset of ischemia. After 1 h reperfusion, bilateral cortex and striatum were taken out for measurement of GPx, SOD and MDA. RESULTS Ischemia-reperfusion lowered the activities of GPx and SOD in cerebral cortex and striatum. Conversely, it elevated the contents of MDA in both areas. Treatment with MT at 5, 10, or 20 mg?kg -1 partly reversed these effects. CONCLUSION MT provides protective effect against cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury by protecting GPx and SOD activities and reducing the lipid peroxidation.

We report here a Chinese female infant with severe hypoplasia of the cerebellum and pons, and
heterozygous mutation (c.18G >T, p.E6D) in the TSEN54 gene. This mutation was not present in her
parents and the 100 Chinese controls, which proved to be a de novo missense mutation. MR imaging
of the patient revealed severe hypoplasia of the bilateral cerebellar hemispheres and vermis with
moderate flattening of the pons. A video EEG during hospitalization demostrated abnormal background
activities and generalized burst and attenuation patterns during interictal stage. The spasms and tonic
spasms occurred frequently in clusters with generalized voltage attenuation.
