Objective To report the long-term follow-up results on treating bladder transitional cell carcinoma with orthotropic ileal neobladder after radical cystectomy.Methods Thirty-three male patients with a mean age of 64 years were subjected to Carney Ⅱ orthotropic ileal neobladder oper-ation after cystectomy.The entire length of ileum was opened along the antimesenteric border,placed into a transverse U shape,and sutured with a running suture.The bottom of the U shape was anasto-mosed with urethra to reconstruct the urinary continuity.The perioperation mortality,complications,urinary continence,renal function,image findings,and urodynamic examination were all retrospec-tively investigated.The quality of life was evaluated using the Functional Assessment of Cancer Ther-apy-Bladder(FATC) and International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS).Results Thirty patients were followed up for 12-60 months.Urodynamics was carried out after oporation.The average ca-pacity of the urinary reservoir,the peak flow rate and postvoid residual were (380±65) ml,(12.6±2.3) ml/s and (25±11) ml,respectively.But the intra-reservoir pressure was significant lower than the intra-urethra pressure(20.4±8.7 cm H2O vs.57.2±10.5 cm H2O).Twenty-eight patients had a satisfactory daytime urinary continence and 26 patients had a satisfactory nocturnal urinary continence.The total FACT was 110.5±16.0 and IPSS was 14.5±4.2.Conclusion CamyⅡ ileal neobladder is a satisfactory method for treatment of invasive bladder cancer after radical cystectomy; it has few com-plication and is clinically valuable.

RNAi is a process of effective gene silencing. Human papillomaviruses 16 (HPV16), as the most prevalent genotype of cervical cancer, encodes the E6 and E7 oncogenes, which is pivotal for maintenance of malignant phenotypes. Recently, some significant advances have been obtained in RNA interfering effect on HPV16 E6/E7. In vitro, it has been developed more effective vector systems and screened for more specific targeted sequences. In vivo, the corresponding animal models have been established, which lay a good foundation for the clinical research.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the clinical characteristics,nasal endoscope and imaging findings, misdiagnosis and treatment results of sphenoid sinus malignant tumor.METHODS The clinical data of 9 cases with sphenoid sinus malignant tumor were summarized and analyzed.Headache was found in 8 patients, ophthalmic symptoms in 3 patients,nasal bleeding and obstruction in 3 patients,and cranial nerve palsy in 2 patients.They were often misdiagnosed as sphenoid sinusitis and nasopharyngeal carcinoma.RESULTS Only 1 patient with papillary carcinoma was cured for 6 years.One patient with neuroendocrine carcinoma was alive for 3 years after treatment.Four patients died at 2 to 3 years.Two patients were alive at 1 year after operation. One patient was lost to follow up.CONCLUSION Sphenoid sinus tumor had no characteristic symptoms in early stage.It is easy to misdiagnose and delay diagnosis. Patients with headache,visual symptoms and nasal bleeding should take nasal endoscopy,CT scan and MRI examination at early stage.

Objective To evaluate which parameters of transvaginal color Doppler ultrasonography(TVCDU) can effectively reflect blood flow in ovarian tumors. Methods TVCDU was preoperatively used to determine all the parameters of blood flow in 60 women with epithelial ovarian cancer(EOC) and 36 with benign ovarian cystadenomas (control group). Microvessel density(MVD) was tested in the tissue samples by immunohistochemical method(SP method). ObjectiveTo evaluate clinical-pathological features, diagnosis and therapy of gestational trophoblastic tumor (GTT) misdiagnosed as ectopic pregnancy. MethodsFrom 1999 to 2003, a total of 13 patients with GTT misdiagnosed as ectopic pregnancy were retrospectively analyzed. ResultsThe main symptoms were amenorrhea, abdominal pain, irregular vaginal bleeding. Serum beta-human chorionic gonadotrop in(hCG) was measured in 10 patients. Eight had hCG values above 10 000 IU/L; 3 had hCG values above 50 000 IU/L. The lesions of GTT misdiagnosed as ectopic pregnancy were fallopian tube, horn of uterus, peritoneal cavity, greater omentum, recto-uterine pouch. According to standards of the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics(FIGO) the 13 patients were categorized as 6 of stage Ⅰ, 2 of stage Ⅱ, 3 of stage Ⅲ and 5 of stage Ⅳ. Histologically they included 10 cases of choriocarcinoma and 3 of invasise mole. All patients were treated by complete surgical resection combined with subsequent adjuvant chemotherapy. ConclusionsMisdiagnosis leads to delay in therapy with resultant increased morbidity of GTT.Analysis on serial hCG is helpful to differential diagnosis between ectopic pregnancy and GTT.

[Objective]To demonstrate mechanism of ESW in curing osteogetic disorders,we studied expression of some osteogenetic factors in human mesenchymal stem cells(hMSCs)when exposed to ESW.[Method]After success in marrow aspiration,isolation and obtainment optimal experimental energy,a dose of 5kV and 100 times of ESW was applied to hMSCs of passage 1.The expression of IGF-Ⅰ and TGF-?1 were examined by immunocytochemical staining.[Result]The cytochemical staining results showed that expression of IGF-Ⅰ and TGF-?1 appeared at different passage of hMSCs after ESW intervention.Appearance of IGF-Ⅰ was earlier than TGF-?1 which didnt express until passage 7.At the same interval,the expression of IGF-Ⅰ and TGF-?1 in control group difference is lower than ESW group,respectively(P

AIM To investigate the possible role of the mitochondrial transmembrane potential (??m) and caspase 3 in arsenic trioxide(As 2O 3)-induced apoptosis of cancer cells. METHOD Namalwa, SGC7901 and Bcap37 cell lines were used as in vitro models. Apoptosis was confirmed by sub-G 1 cells content as well as phosphatidylserine(PS) externalization. The ??m was detected on flow cytometry through double staining of Rhodamine 123(Rh123) and popidium iodide(PI). In addition, the effect of DEVD-CHO, a selective inhibitor of Caspase 3, on As 2O 3-induced apoptosis was studied. RESULT The As 2O 3-induced apoptosis closely associated with the externalization of the ??m and the activation of Caspase 3. As 2O 3 induced cells necrosis when Caspase 3 was inhibited. CONCLUSION As 2O 3 may selectively activates Caspase 3 after it induces externalization of ??m, which causes cancer cells apoptosis.
