Objective To investigate the expression and significance of YB -1 in serum and endometrial tis-sues in patients with endometriosis ( EMs ) for taking YB -1 EMs as an index of early diagnosis and treatment . Methods ELISAwas adopted to detect YB -1 expressions in serum of EMs group and control group .The expression of YB-1 in endometrial tissue in the EMs group and control group was detected by immunohistochemistry SP method . Results The average concentration of YB -1 in serum of EMs group (14.65 ±3.91 ug/L) was higherthan thatin the control group (9.64 ±2.37 ug/L), with statistically significant differences (p<0.05).The results of immuno-histochemistry showed that the expression of YB -1 was moderately positive in endometria of patients with EMs . Weakly positive expressions of YB -1 were detected in a fewcases of the control group .There are significant differ-ences in the positive expression rates of YB -1 between two groups ( p <0.05).Conclusion The expression of YB-1 in serum and endometria of patients with EMs is higher .YB-1 can not only be an intracellular marker , but also expected to become an ideal serological marker .

Objective To explore the value of 64-slice multi-detector computed tomography coronary angiography (64SCTA) in detecting the coronary artery plaque and to analyze the risk factors for unstable plaque. Methods A total of 112 inpatients who had been diagnosed as coronary artery disease by 64SCTA received catheter coronary angiography (CAG). The levels of serum endothelin-1 (ET-1), matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) were measured. The effect of 64SCTA in detecting the coronary artery plaque was evaluated as compared with CAG. The patients were divided into the soft plaque group (n=51) and non-soft plaque group (n=61) according to the CT value of correctly detected plaque. The differences in the above detection indexes between two groups and the risk factors for soft plaque forming were analyzed. Results The 64SCTA had 87.4% sensitivity and 87.1% specificity in detecting coronary artery plaque, the positive predictive value was 82.2% and the negative predictive value was 91.0%. There were significant differences between soft plaque group and non-soft plaque group in the levels of MMP-9, IL-6, hs-CRP, the number of coronary lesions and the composition ratios of gender, diagnosis and diabetes. Logistic regression analysis showed that MMP-9>5.231 ng/L (P=0.0215, OR=2.33, 95%CI 1.13-4.79), hs-CRP>3.583 mg/L (P=0.0008, OR=4.32, 95%CI 1.84-10.15) and unstable angina pectoris (P=0. 0339, OR=4.33, 95% CI 1.12-16.77) were the risk factors for soft plaque formation. Conclusions 64SCTA has highervalue in detecting the coronary artery plaque, and is one of most reliable means in non-invasive methods. MMP-9, hs-CRP and unstable angina pectoris are independent risk factors of plaque instability.

AIM: To investigate the influence and mechanism of recombinant macrophage migration inhibitory factor(rMIF) on fibroblasts.METHODS: MRC-5 fibroblasts were divided into two groups: the treated group was treated with rMIF(25-100 ?g/L,12 h,24 h or 48 h) and the control was non-rMIF treatment. The activity of proliferation in both groups was investigated and compared by CCK-8 means.Synthesis of collagen in the culture supernatants was detected by the hydroxyproline. The expression of collagen type I mRNA was examined using RT-PCR analysis. The level of collagen type I protein induced by rMIF was quantified by Western blotting.RESULTS: The production of proliferation ratio of fibroblasts treated with 50 ?g/L and 100 ?g/L rMIF at 24 h or 48 h were increased obviously(P

Objective To explore the dietary intakes of carotenoids in Chinese adults.Method One hundred and eighty four 30-60 year-old adults(84 males and 100 females) from three different communities were recruited in the investigation. The dietary samples were collected by double-servings in every season of the year respectively. The double sample comprised all the foods of continuous 3 d at equal variety and quantity, and were analyzed by HPLC for the contents of ?-carotene,?-carotene,?-cryptoxanthin,lycopene,and lutein/zeaxanthin.Results The dietary samples were collected and analyzed from 184,184,169,and 161 subjects in summer, autumn, winter and spring respectively. The dietary intakes of ?-carotene,?-carotene,?-cryptoxanthin,lycopene,and lutein+zeaxanthin in the investigated subjects in summer were 2.48?2.71mg,276.6?469.4 ?g,86.9?241.4 ?g,2.16?3.38 mg,and 1.48?1.65 mg respectively. Those in autumn were 3.39?4.10 mg,271.7?462.8 ?g,339.9?1016.8 ?g,0.25?1.34 mg and 2.07?3.00 mg respectively. Those in winter were 2.85?3.76 mg,302.7?622.6 ?g,108.8?142.3 ?g,0.36?1.46 mg and 1.97?3.00 mg.and those in spring were 3.76?3.35 mg,162.4?413.9 ?g,42.1?93.8 ?g,0.86?1.39 mg and 6.10?6.26 mg respecfively. The lycopene intakes were relatively higher in summer,?-cryptoxanthin higher in autumn, and lutein/ zeaxanthin higher in spring. The intakes of ?-and ?-carotene were relatively less fluctuated by seasons.Generally, the subjects from the central urban community consumed more carotenoids than those from the outskirt community and the rural village, with the only exception of lutein/zeaxanthin intake in spring. Conclusion The dietary carotenoids intakes in Chinese adults were studied, and the data would be helpful for further researches about carotenoids nutrition among Chinese population.

Hedgehog signaling pathway is a conserved and important signaling pathway involved in proliferation and differentiation of many types of cells. Latest studies have found that Hedgehog signaling pathway may induce MSCs osteoblast differentiation by increasing the expression of the Runx2 and Osx and inhibit MSCs differentiate to adipocyte. Hedgehog signaling pathway may also promote osteoblast proliferation by regulating cyclin. This review summarizes the mechanism that Hedgehog signaling pathway regulates osteoblast differentiation and proliferation, and concludes that Hedgehog signaling pathway can regulate bone metabolism. It might provide new ideas for the treatment of osteoporosis.

Fibrolase is a non-hemorrhagic zinc metalloproteinase isolated from southern copperhead snake venom (Agkistrodon contortrix contortrix) and is capable of degrading fibrin clots resulting from purified fibrinogen or from blood plasma. Alfimeprase, a truncated form of fibrolase, as a clinical agent was successfully completed PhaseII clinical trials. The cDNA of alfimeprase was amplified by recursive PCR, digested with BamHI and HindII, and cloned into pET43.1a, pMALp2X and pMALc2X vectors to generate fusions with NusA, MBP and sMBP(with signal peptide), respectively. Nus/alfimeprase was expressed in soluble form by co-expressing with chaperone FkpA and inducing with1mmol/L IPTG. The fusion protein accounted for about 25 % of total protein following cell lysis. Alfimeprase was successfully purifiesd by Ni-NTA affinity chromatography and cleaved by enterokinase. The results demonstrate the fibrinolytic activity of recombinant alfimeprase using fibrin plate assays and fibrinogen hydrolysis.
