China Pharmacy 2015;(26):3700-3702
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of intravitreal injection of ranibizumab on visual acuity and GAS6,SDF-1 and VEGF levels in serum of patients with proliferative diabetic retinopathy lesions. METHODS:56 patients diagnosed as prolifera-tive diabetic retinopathy in our hospital during Mar. 2012 to Mar. 2014 were analyzed retrospectively and divided into simple lateral eyes group(29 cases)and bilateral eyes group(27 cases). All patients received single intravitreal injection of ranibizumab. The se-rum levels of GAS6,SDF-1 and VEGF were detected before treatment and 1,4 and 8 weeks after treatment. The visual acuity of patients were detected before treatment and 1 week after treatment. RESULTS:1,4 and 8 weeks after treatment, the serum levels of GAS6,SDF-1 and VEGF in 2 groups were decreased significantly, with statistical significance(P<0.05);but there was no sta-tistical significance between 2 groups(P>0.05). 1 week after treatment, the number of letter which had been seen by patient’s BC-VA were increased, compared to before treatment, with statistical significance(P<0.05);but there was no statistical significance between 2 groups(P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Intravitreal injection of ranibizumab can improve visual acuity of patients with pro-liferative diabetic retinopathy.
2.Development of bone tissue engineering scaffold materials
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(30):4895-4899
BACKGROUND:Bone tissue engineering is the most promising way to treat bone defects at present. The key problem is to construct vascular networks which can provide oxygen and nutrients for new bone, and thereby provide a way for the body metabolism. OBJECTIVE:To review the characteristics of bone tissue engineering scaffold materials and to introduce the development of composite scaffold materials. METHODS:With the key words of“bone tissue engineering, scaffold, vascularization, composite scaffold”in Chinese and in English, respectively, a computer-based search was performed for articles published in CNKI and PubMed databases from January 2001 to January 2014. After the initial screening, the reserved articles were further detailed, summarized and concluded. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:According to the different sources, the bone tissue engineering scaffold materials can be divided into artificial materials, natural derivatives and composite scaffold materials. Single scaffold is difficult to be the most ideal material for repair of bone defects, while composite scaffold can make up for the defects of the single scaffold to different degrees. Therefore, in recent years, the bone tissue engineering scaffolds have developed from single to composite scaffolds and there is the trend of organic combination of artificial materials and natural derivatives. However, composite scaffolds have many problems to be solved in the clinical application. The main aspect is to control the proportion of the composite scaffold so that the degradation of materials can be matched with growth of tissues and cells. The other one is to keep the porous and high mechanical strength of the composite scaffold.

The effects of cardiomyocyte grafting on left ventricular (LV) remodeling and function in rats with chronic myocardial infarction were evaluated using high-frequency ultrasound. Chronic myocardial infarction was induced in 50 Wister rats by ligating the left anterior descending artery. They were randomized into two groups: a trial group that received neonatal rat cardiomyocyte transplantation (n=25) and a control group which were given intramyocardial injection of culture medium (n=25). The left ventricular (LV) geometry and function were evaluated by high-frequency ultrasound before and 4 weeks after the cell transplantation. After the final evaluation, all rats were sacrificed for histological study. The results showed that 4 weeks after the cell transplantation, as compared with the control group, the LV end-systolic dimension, end-diastolic dimension, end-systolic volume and end-diastolic volume were significantly decreased and the LV anterior wall end-diastolic thickness, LV ejection fraction and fractional shortening were significantly increased in the trial group (P<0.01). Histological study showed that transplanted neonatal rat cardiomyocytes were found in all host hearts and identified by Brdu staining. It was suggested that transplantation of neonatal rat cardiomyocytes can reverse cardiac remodeling and improve heart function in chronic myocardial infarction rats. High-frequency ultrasound can be used as a reliable technique for the non-invasive evaluation of the effect of cardiomyocyte transplantation.

Objective To explore the effects of lamotrigine (LTG) on cognitive function and the quality of life (QOL) in patients with partial epilepsy. Methods Twenty six patients with newly diagnosed partial epilepsy were randomly divided into 2 different groups using oral administration of LTG and carbamazepine (CBZ) respectively. By neuropsychological test scores and the Quality of Life in Epilepsy Inventory (QOLIE-31) The cognitive function and QOL were assessed before and 16 weeks after the treatment. A battery of neuropsychological tests comprised WAIS digital span test (WDST), verbal fluency test (VFT), trail making test (TMT, parts A and B), stroop color word test (SCWT), Wisconsin card sorting test (WCST), delayed logical memory test, delayed optical memory test, arithmetic ability and digital symbol conversion test. Results The repeated assessments for the patients taking LTG were associated with significant improvements in many domains. When comparing the results at the end of 16 weeks with the baseline results, the verbal fluency were improved, the time of trail making test parts A and B were shortened, the WCST correct number and classification were improved, and the persistent error number and operation time of WCST were declined as well, digital symbol conversion was increased, delayed logic memory and optical memory were improved (t=3. 043, -3. 287,-2. 543,3. 167,3. 028,-2. 191, -3. 216,3. 061,3. 036, 3. 021 ,all P<0. 01 or P<0. 05). When comparing the efficacy of LTG with the CBZ group, the time of stroop color word test was shortened, digital symbol conversion was increased and arithmetic ability was improved (t= 3. 167,2. 142,2. 101, P<0.01 or P<0. 05). Compared with the baseline, both LTG group and CBZ group showed that the overall QOL, overall health, cognitive function and social function scores were improved (LTG group: t= 3. 321,2. 462,3. 294,3. 512;CBZ group: t=3. 314, 3. 149,3. 294,3. 202,all P<0.05). When comparing LTG group with CBZ group after therapy, cognitive function and social function scores were obviously improved (t = 2. 257,2. 140, both P< 0. 05), and the worry about seizure declined (t=2. 147,P<0. 05).
