Objective To evaluate the effects of traspupillary thermotherapy (TTT) for the treatment of central exudative chorioretinopathy (CEC). Methods Twelve eyes of 12 patients who suffered from CEC were treated by using a diode laser at 810 nm. A variable spot size of 0.5 mm 2 0 mm was used depending on the size of choroidal neovascularization (CNV).The treatment was initiated in one spot for 55 to 60 seconds duration at a power range between 200 350 mW, and the treated area revealed no visible color change to a light gray appearance. Preoperative and postoperative fluorescein angiography (FFA) and indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) were performed in 10 of the 12 eyes. Results The visual acuity in all eyes was improved to different degree over a period of 3 10 months. Five or more lines improvement measured by Snellen chart in visual acuity was found after the treatment in 4 eyes, three to five lines in 5 eyes and one to two lines in 3 eyes. All eyes demonstrated decreased or vanished exudation in FFA. CNV disappeared or decreaced in 8 eyes and remained nochange in 2 eyes in ICGA. Conclusion TTT is obviously effective in treating CEC.

Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) is a kind of multipotent adult stem cells, which is one of the most important seed sources of tissue engineering.Microgravity has inhibitory effects on osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs,which will cause bone mass reduction and changes of bone micro-structure that finally lead to osteoporosis. This process is regulated by multiple signaling pathways such as mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway,Notch pathway and Wnt/β-catenin pathway which co-regulated BMSCs osteogenic differentiation under microgravity.Studying the effects of microgravity on BMSCs into osteogenic differentiation can clarify the mechanism of bone loss, put forward new targets for the treatment of diseases and provide a useful reference for the development of China's space industry.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of pH value and fluoride ions on the corrosion resistance of pure Ti and Ni-Cr-Ti alloy in the artificial saliva.
METHODSElectrochemical technique was used to measure the electric potential of corrosion (Ecorr), current density of corrosion (Icorr) and polarization resistance (Rp) of pure titanium and Ti-Ni-Cr alloy in the artificial saliva with different pH value and fluoride concentrations. After electrochemical analysis, microstructure and phase diffraction were examined by FSEM.
RESULTSWith the lower pH value, the Ecorr and Icorr of pure titanium and Ti-Ni-Cr alloy increased, the Rp decreased, there was a significant difference (P<0.05). The Ecorr and Icorr increased markedly, the Rp significantly reduced in the artificial saliva containing 0.2% NaF (P<0.01). FSEM showed that pure titanium and Ti-Ni-Cr alloy surface corrosion, pure titanium in the artificial saliva containing 0.2% NaF was most serious.
CONCLUSIONLower pH value decreases the corrosion resistance of pure titanium and Ti-Ni-Cr alloy and the artificial saliva containing fluoride ions decreases the corrosion resistance of pure titanium.

Osteoporosis (OP) is one of the bone metabolic diseases which seriously harms the health and lives of people. The main cause of OP is that the balance between bone formation and bone absorption, i.e. the balance of the bone remodeling process,is no longer exist. When the bone absorption dominates the process, it will lead to osteopenia, destruction of bone microstructure and increased rate of fracture. Previous studies have shown that casein kinase 2-interacting protein-1 (CKIP-1) plays an important role in the process of bone tissue proliferation and differentiation. It mainly interacts with Smad ubiquitination regulatory factor 1 (Smurf 1) to affect bone metabolism. This review analyzes and summarizes the impact of CKIP-1 on bone tissue osteogenic differentiation direction and its mechanism, which may provide new idea and research orientation for future clinical treatment of osteoporosis.

Objective To investigate the growth inhibition of human osteosareoma cell line(MG-63) intervened by Hydralazine and 5'-aza-2'-deoxycytidine (5-Aza-CdR),and the effect on the mRNA expression of gene WW domain-containing oxidoreductase (WWOX).Methods Certain volume of 5 × 104/ml of human osteosarcoma cell line MG-63 in logarithmic growth phase were added into 96-well plate. There were Hydralazine group (drug concentration,0.1,1.0,10 μmol/L),5-Aza-CdR group (drug concentration,5,10,20 μmol/L),Hydralazine combined with 5-Aza-CdR group (drug concentration,0.1 μmo/L + 5 μmol/L,1.0 μmol/L + 10 μmol/L,10 μmol/L + 20 μmol/L) and control group (culture medium).Methyl thiazol tetrazolium(MTT) colorimetric methods were used to test the growth inhibition of MG-63 cells intervened by different concentrations of Hydralazine and 5'-aza -2'-deoxycytidine (5-Aza-CdR).Flow cytometry AnnexinV-FITC/PI methods were used to assay the effects of Hydralazine and 5-Aza-CdR inducing apoptosis in osteosarcoma cells in vitro.Real-time polymerase chain reaction (Real-Time PCR)methods were used to detect amplification of WWOX mRNA induced by Hydralazine combined with 5-Aza-CdR or alone.Western-blotting methods were used to examine the expression of WWOX in MG-63 cells. Results Hydralazine and 5-Aza-CdR effectively inhibited the growth of MG-63 cells in a concentration and time-dependent manner.Combined effect was more obvious.Further more the expression levels of WWOX mRNA and protein were increased significantly in combined groups as compared with other groups. Conclusion Hydralazine and 5-Aza-CdR could effectively inhibit the proliferation of MG-63 cells and induce apoptosis which is concurrent with the promotion of the expression of WWOX.The mechanism may be that Hydralazine/5-Aza-CdR effectively cause the demethylated of WWOX gene CpG-rich promoter regions, leading to the high expression of WWOX and inhibit the growth of MG-63 cells. The use of hydralazine in the treatment of osteosarcoma is worthy of further investigation.
