Objective To investigate and determine the dietary intake level and food source of elements in Kashin-Beck disease(KBD) and non-endemic KBD areas in parts of Aba Autonomous Prefecture , Sichuan Province. Methods Three KBD villages were selected from each county including the counties of Songpan , Jiuzhaigou and Ruoergai in Aba Autonomous Prefecture with multi stage random sampling method in 2010 , and 122 KBD patients who were diagnosed at county-level or higher-level hospitals were selected from villages. One non-KBD village was selected randomly from each county and 43 controls without KBD or other bone and joint disease were selected in proportion to the number of investigated KBD patients. Dietary intake of each object was recorded 24 hours before the survey using a 24 hour dietary survey method and intake of each kind of food(cooked food) was recorded. Three day dietary intake of each surveyed object was recorded in continuous and the average value was calculated. The local resident representative food samples were collected and 20 kinds of elements in these samples were determined with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry ( ICP-MS ) and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry(ICP-AES), and daily elements intake was calculated and compared with the relevant intake standards. Results Daily intakes of vegetables and meat were 126.72, 28.25 g, respectively, in patients with KBD. More than 3 times of brick tea was drank by KBD patients than non-KBD people (P<0.05). Per capita daily intakes of Ca, Fe, Mg, K, Na, Zn, I, Cu and Co were less than recommended nutrient intake or allowable daily intake in both groups. More than 80% patients with KBD overtook more Al and Pb than tolerable upper intake levels. Conclusion There is a single dietary structure and a serious shortage of a variety of essential elements intake in parts of Aba Autonomous Prefecture, and the dietary intake level of elements is different between two groups.

This article reviews the neutralizing antibody problem, elusive immune protection, immunogen design, pre-existing anti-vector immunity and design of phase 3 vaccine trials and the challenges and opportunities in development of HIV/AIDS vaccine are discussed.

Objective To comparative analyze the contents of 20 active ingredients in two dosage forms of Zhizhu Pills (ZP) and Zhizhu Granules (ZG). Methods Three batches of raw materials were used for the preparation of ZP and ZG according to the preparation process of China Pharmacopoeia (2015 Editon). Twenty active ingredients in the two dosage forms were detected simultaneously using high-performance liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (HPLC-QqQ-MS). The separation was performed on a Poroshell 120 SB-C18 (100 mm × 4.6 mm, 2.7 μm) column with a flow rate of 0.5 mL/min. Mobile phase consisted of 0.1% formic acid in water (A)-0.1% formic acid in acetonitrile (B). The column temperature was set at 30 ℃. The gradient elution conditions: 0-7 min, 23% B; 7-17 min, 23%-80% B; 17-20 min, 80%-100% B, 20-30 min, 100% B; flow rate was 0.5 mL/min. Results The contents of 20 active ingredients in the pills were 1.48-13.37 times that of the granules, the total difference of them perday were 493.02-615.08 mg. Conclusion There were significant differences in the content of active components in the two dosage forms of ZP and ZG, especially those components with poor solubility in water and thermal instability.

Objective To observe the changes of cerebrovascular reactivity(CVR)in cerebral infarct, and ascertain the correlation between them. Methods Breath-holding index (BHI) was obtained with transcranial Doppler combined breath-holding test in 193 subjects with cerebral infarct and 113 controls. Results The BHI in cerebral infarct patients was significantly lower than that in controls(P=0.000),and CVR was a independent influential factor for cerebral infarct(P=0.000). Conclusion Impaired CVR is associated with cerebral infarct, which should be paid more attention to.

Objective To explore the clinical performance and related factors of perimenopausal syndrome,cognition and demand for perimenopausal knowledge in community-dwelling women.Methods During June 2009 to December 2011,a cross-section survey of perimenopausal symptoms as well as cognition and demand for perimenopausal knowledge was conducted in 1546 women aged 45 to 65 years in Shanghai Changfeng Community.Results The average menopausal age of this population was (49.5 ±3.7) years.The total prevalence of perimenopausal syndrome was 75.7％ (n =1094) and 81.4％,76.5％,65.4％ in women with primary school,middle school and college education background respectively (P=0.007).Sexual disorders (80.8％),hot flushes & sweating (64.7％) and fatigue (55.8％) were the most common symptoms of perimenopause.The most serious symptoms affecting daily lives included urinary symptoms,unsatisfactory sexual life and hot flushes & sweating.And 391 (27.1％),238 (16.5％),285 (19.8％) and 296 (20.5％) women did not know the concept of perimenopausal syndrome,possible symptoms,health measures or symptoms requiring medical attention.The common methods of acquiring the knowledge of perimenopause were communicating with peers (458,31.7％),consulting professionals (364,25.2％) and searching health care information (225,17.6％).Conclusions In women,the prevalence of perimenopausal syndrome remains quite high.And a majority of them lack a sufficient knowledge of perimenopause and need professional guidance.

Objective To study serum level of prostate specific antigen (PSA) by age and its relationship with positive prostatic biopsy.Methods A total of 8818 adults who underwent PSA scanning at Health Chek-up Center of Beijing Hospital during July 2009 and July 2010 were retrospectively studied,40 of whom performed prostatic biopsy.Linear regression was used to assess the relation of PSA with age,while Chi-square test was used to compare positive prostatic biopsy in different PSA groups.Results Serum PSA of more than 4 μg/L was more commonly seen in the elderly group (40 ～ year-old group 1.4％,50 ～ yearold group 1.9％,60 ～ year-old group 9.2％,70 ～ year-old group 15.5％,80 year-old group 17％ ; P ＜0.001 ; RR =0.196).In those whose PSA was ＞ 20 μg/L,6 (83.3 ％) were found to have positive prostatic biopsy; and the figure was 10 (50.0％) or 24 (24.0％) when PSA was ＜4 μg/L or 4-10 μg/L group (P =0.048).Conclusions Age was positively correlated with PSA,although no linear correlation was confirmed.Higher serum PSA level (＞ 4 μg/L) may be more common in elderly people and those with a positive prostatic biopsy.

Objective To investigate the status quo of quality of life and family environment of children and adolescents with diabetes, also to explore the relationship between family environment and the quality of life, so as to give some support for family nursing. Methods A total of 58 diabetic children and adolescents were asked to complete Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory,meanwhile their parents were asked to complete the family environment scale, relativity of life quality of diabetic children and adolescents with family environment was analyzed. Results The physical function, school function, psychosocial health and total quality of life of diabetic children and adolescents' were lower than healthy children; family conflicts and control were higher than normal, while knowledge was lower than normal. Their quality of life was positively correlated with family knowledge and control, family control and success contributed a lot to life quality. Conclusions The health professionals should improve the communication between children and parents, sharing the diabetes responsibility, reduce the family conflict, in order to manage diabetes effectively and improve the quality of life.

To obtain higher potency and specificity, a series of 7-alkoxy analogues of illudalic acid was synthesized on the base of structure-activity relationship (SAR). All of these compounds exhibited submicromolar inhibition of the enzyme when tested against human leukocyte common antigen-related phosphatase (LAR) (for example, for 15e, IC50 = 180 nmol x L(-1)). They represent the most potent small-molecule inhibitors of LAR so far. These analogues also display excellent selectivity for LAR over other protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) except for the highly homologous PTPsigma. The compound 15f is of 120-fold selectivity for LAR versus PTP-1B inhibition. The development of potent enzyme-specific inhibitors is so important that they may serve both as tools to study the role of LAR and as therapeutic agents for treatment of type II diabetes.

Objective To analyse the correlation of age and BMI with prostate-specific antigen (PSA)in male younger than 50 years of age. Methods The routine health examination data of 6808 males, younger than 50 years of age, were collected and reviewed. The height and weight were measured, so as to calculate the body mass index (BMI). Serum PSA was also examined. Eligible men were classified into age groups spanning 10 years. BMI was categorized as normal (BMI 18. 5 - 22. 9) , overweight (BMI 23. 0-24. 9), obese (BMI 25. 0 - 29. 9) , and very obese (BMI≥30. 0) according to the re-defined World Health Organization criterion for the Asia Pacific Region. PSA levels were stratified by age and BMI category. Results The mean age was (39. 2±7. 0)years, mean BMI (25. 6± 4. 7)kg/m~2 and mean PSA (0. 89±0. 56)ng/ml for the whole population. The PSA level in 10 - 19 age group was significantly lower than the other three groups (P<0. 01) and no significant difference was found among the other three groups. The BMI had negative correlated with PSA even when comparing in sub-age groups, except the 10-19 age group. Spearman analysis also found PSA had significant positive correlation with age and negative correlation with BMI. Conclusions Serum PSA level changes significantly with age in adolescence whereas quite slowly between 20-50 years of age. BMI has negative influence on PSA in male younger than 50 years of age.
