OBJECTIVE:To provide reference for the standardization of package insert of common drugs for elderly patients. METHODS:Outpatient prescriptions in our hospital from 2013 to 2014 were collected, and common drugs of elderly patients(≥60 years old)were ordered by consumption sum,and package inserts of top 100 drugs were statistically analyzed for absent items. RESULTS:The 100 common drugs for elderly patients included 28 Chinese traditional drugs and 72 chemical drugs. The Chinese traditional drug had more absent items, mostly were pharmacokinetics and drug overdose(92.9%),medication of elderly patients (85.7%),drug interactions(78.6%)and pharmacological actions(50.0%);the proportion of contraindications(16/28),adverse re-actions(15/28) and precaution(9/28) with uncertainty was relatively high. Items of chemicals package insert were better than Chi-nese traditional drug, absent items were pharmacokinetics and drug overdose(5.6%),medication of elderly patients and pharmaco-logical actions (2.8%) and drug interactions (1.4%);the proportion of medication of elderly patients (16/72),drug interaction and drug overdose(12/72)with uncertainty was relatively high. CONCLUSIONS:The common problem existing in the drug manu-al is characterized by absence of usage for elderly, drug descriptions is not clear, etc. Package inserts should be further improved to strengthen its standardization.

AIM: To study the impacts of the myocardial connexin 43 degradation on conduction velocity during acute myocardial ischemia. METHODS: Studies were carried out in 16 dogs which were randomly divided into control group( n= 4) and ischemia group( n= 12). The acute myocardial ischemia was induced by ligation of the left anterior descending coronary artery. The conduction velocity of ischemic myocardium was determined. The content of Cx43 of the ischemic myocardium was examined by laser confocal microscopy with a double-label immunohistochemistry technique. RESULTS: (1)The Cx43 degraded rapidly during acute myocardial ischemia, and the conduction velocity of ischemic myocardium declined greatly; (2)The conduction velocity correlated positively with the Cx43 pixel density in each small region of ischemic myocardium; (3) The Cx43 pixel density decreased over 50% in the region which occuring permanent conduction block. CONCLUSION: These data suggest the degradation of Cx43 decreases the conduction velocity greatly during acute short time myocardial ischemia, and severe degradation of Cx43 would lead to permanent conduction block.

Objective: The current study was designed to investigate the polymorphisms of DNA repair gene XRCC1 in Chinese population and test the hypothesis which these genetic variations may have impact on the risk of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC). Methods: A case control study of 222 ESCC patients and 433 control subjects (matched for age, sex) was conducted to investigate the role of two XRCC1 polymorphisms(XRCC1 26304 T and XRCC1 281152 A) in ESCC. Genotyping was performed using PCR based restriction fragment length polymorphism techniques. The adjusted odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) was calculated using multivariate logistic regression. Results: Genotype frequencies of the XRCC1 C26304T were 51.7% (CC), 41.6% (CT) and 6.7% (TT) in control group. The frequency of TT allele in control group (6.7% ) was significantly lower than that in case group (12.6% ), with the adjusted OR for ESCC being 1.83 (95% CI 1.03- 3.24; P< 0.05). Furthermore, the risk of ESCC for XRCC1 26304 TT alleles appeared to be more pronounced among smokers (adjusted OR=3.1,95% CI 1.3- 7.2) compared to nonsmokers (adjusted OR=2.3, 95% CI 1.0- 5.4), and among smokers who smoked≥ 20 cigarettes/day (adjusted OR=6.4, 95% CI 2.0- 23.7) compared to those who smoked< 20 cigarettes/day (adjusted OR=1.0, 95% CI 0.2- 4.3). Genotype frequencies of the XRCC1 G28152A were 53.3% (GG), 38.1% (GA) and 8.6% (AA) in control group, which were not significantly different from that in case group. Conclusion: These findings support the hypothesis which polymorphism in XRCC1 DNA repair gene contributes to the risk of developing ESCC.

Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 2001;22(4):367-369
Objective:To determine whether ox-LDL (oxdized low-density lipoprotein) is highly deposited on the uremic vessel wall and its influence on the vascular remodeling. Methods: Segments of radial arteries were obtained from 21 uremic subjects during the operation of A-V fistula prior to hemodialysis. Segments of internal thoracic arteries of similar diameter were obtained from patients with benign chest tumors as control. The vascular lesions and ox-LDL, CD68,MCP-1, eNOS,ET-1, PCNA,FN on the vessel wall were determined by means of H-E stain and immunohistochemistry. Results: With H-E stain, atherosclerotic plaques were found in the radial arteries of 4 uremic patients. The middle layer of the arteries in uremic patients were obviously thickened, and the T/D (thickness of the wall/external diameter) ratio was significantly higher than those in control group(P<0.01). ox-LDL,CD68,MCP-1, ET-1, PCNA,FN on the vessel wall in uremic patients were much higher than those in control group (P<0.01). Moreover, ox-LDL on the vessel wall was positively related to the expression of other above mentioned substances on the vessel wall (P<0.01). Whereas the expression of eNOS on the vessel wall was lower than control group (P<0.01),and was negatively related to ox-LDL on the vessel wall(P<0.01). Conclusion: ox-LDL is an important factor contributing to uremic vascular remodeling by increasing the migration, adhesion and infiltration of monocyte, the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cell and dysfunction of endothelia.
