Objective To explore the impact of environment factors and social economic factors(environment interference factors for short)and control measures on the endemic status of schistosomiasis in Poyang Lake Eco?economic Region. Meth?ods The grey relational analysis model was applied to analyze the relationships between the key indexes of schistosomiasis epi?demic status and the environment interference factors and control measures in Jiujiang City of Poyang Lake Eco?economic Re?gion. Results Six environment factors, which included the annual average water level of Poyang Lake, average annual tempera?ture, storm frequency, annual average relative humidity, annual sunshine duration, and annual precipitation, had the most closed relationship with the indexes of schistosomiasis epidemic status(all ri>0.9). Among the socioeconomic factors, the num?ber of health technicians and beds of health facilities were most associated with the indexes of schistosomiasis epidemic status. Among the control measures of schistosomiasis, the number of cattle treated with extending chemotherapy, chemically killing of Oncomelania hupensis snails and eco?renovation were most associated with the indexes of schistosomiasis epidemic status. Con?clusion The various environment interference factors and their interaction should be considered in formulating the comprehen?sive control strategy for schistosomiasis, and the control strategy should be adjusted according to the epidemic dynamic and schistosomiasis?focused targets,so as to further strengthen the scientificity and validity of the control strategy.

Objective To investigate the clinical phenotype, genotype and ultrastructural features in a pedigree with autosomal recessive congenital ichthyosis. Methods Patients were examined for clinical manifestation. PCR was carried out to amplify all the 15 exons and adjacent splice sites of TGM1 gene followed by bidirectional sequencing. Skin samples were taken by biopsy from the back of the proband, fixed in 3% glu-taraldehyde for transmission electron microscopy. Results The proband presented an intermediate clinical phenotype between lamellar ichthyosis (LI) and non-bullous congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma (NCIE), while his brother manifested as a collodion baby. A C551T heterozygous mutation which located in the third exon of TGM1 gene and resulted in a substitution of arginine by cysteine at codon 143 (R143C), was detected in the proband, his brother and father. Meanwhile, another heterozygous C-to-T transition at position 759 causing a substitution of serine by phenylalanine at codon 212 (S212F), was noted in the proband, his brother and mother. Electron microscopy revealed not only features of ichthyosis congenital type Ⅲ but also those of ichthyosis congenital type Ⅱ in lesions of the proband. Conclusions The patients in this pedigree carry compound heterozygous mutations, i.e. R143C, a hot missense mutation, as well as a de novo mutation S212F. The proband, who harbors mutations in the TGM1 gene, shows electron microscopic features characteristic not only of ichthyosis congenital type Ⅱ but also of ichthyosis congenital type Ⅲ.

BACKGROUND: Acute coronary syndrome(ACS) are a result of the rupture of unstable atherosclerotic plaques and thrombosis. Matrix metalloprotei nases (MMPs) are believed to play an important role in vascular remodeling and plaque instability by degrading the extracellular matrix.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the possible impact of polymorphisms in matrix metalloproteinase-3 and -12 genes on the risk of ACS in Chinese Han population.DESIGN: A case-control study based on ACS patients as subjects and healthy population as the control group.SETTING: Department of clinical tests of a university hospital and the department of biochemistry and molecular biology of a medical college PARTICIPANTS: A total of 103 patients with ACS(outpatients and inpatients received and hospitalized from March 2002 to December 2003 at the People' s Armed Police Hubei General Hospital,Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University and Liyuan Hospital of Huazhong University of Science and Technology) were involved and were divided into ACS group and the normal control group. For the ACS group, there were 73 males and 30 females with an average age of(53±10) years, including 47 cases of acute cardiac infarction and 56 cases of unstable cardiac angina. For the normal control group, there were 100 healthy subjects as controls, including 67 males and 33 females with an average age of(52±12) years. All the subjects were Chinese Han Population in Hubei Province, and they were voluntary to participate in the study.METHODS: Polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and restriction fragment length polymorphism(RFLP) techniques were used to examine the MMP-3-1612 5A/6A and MMP-12 -82 A/G gene polymorphisms respectively.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The genotypes of and the allele frequencies in the patients and the individuals in the control group.RESULTS: The prevalence of 5A/6A +5A/5A genotype(41.7% vs 24%,x2 =6. 447,P<0.05) and5A allele (21.8% vs 13%,χ2 =4. 906,P<0.05) of MMP-3 gene were significantly more frequent in the ACS group than in the control subjects. The odds ratio of the 5A/6A +5A/5A was 2. 269(95% CI,1.241 to 4. 149,P<0.01). No significant difference was detected between the patients and the control group in genotype and allele distribution of the MMP-12 -82 A/G gene polymorphism(P>0.05).CONCLUSION: These findings indicate that the 5A/6A polymorphism of MMP-3 gene is associated with the risk of ACS,and might play an important role in the development of coronary atherosclerosis..This conclusion provides experimental data for gene study of the coronary disease and primary intervention for rehabilitation.

Objective To explore the clinical characteristics and prognosis of congenital pulmonary artery sling (PAS) in children. MethodsThe clinical data of 38 children diagnosed with PAS during June 2009 and February 2015 were retrospectively analyzed. ResultsIn 38 PAS children, 35 cases (89.47%) were hospitalized for varying degrees of respiratory manifestations with recurrent cough (89.47%) and wheezing (84.21%) being the most common. The remaining 3 cases were found abnormal in routine preoperative examination and the diagnosis was confirmed after further examination. All 38 children were performed computer tomography angiography (CTA). Thirty-seven cases were diagnosed of PAS and diagnostic rate was 97.37%. One case was suspected of pulmonary dysplasia and diagnosed of PAS after operation. Twenty-six children received surgical treatment, of whom 25 children had pulmonary artery reconstruction (LPA). Seven children died during/after operation and 18 survived. The remaining 12 children received non-surgical treatment, of whom 9 died and 3 survived.ConclusionCardiac uhrasonography may reveal PAS in the early stage, while CTA is the best method for conifrmed diagnosis. LPA reconstruction is an important means of relieving left pulmonary artery oppression.
