Objective To explore the effect of Bailing capsule on epithelial-mesenchymal transition( EMT) in rats with adenine-in-duced tubulointerstitial fibrosis. Methods Tubulointerstitial fibrosis animal models were established and SD rats were divided into mo-del group ( n = 30), treatment group ( n = 30) and control group( n = 30), randomly. Experimental rats were harvested at 7 w, 12 w,17 w after onset of experiment and functional evaluations were performed. Histology, immunohistology were examined to investigateboth histolopathology changes and the expression of bone morphogenic protein-7 (BMP-7), transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1 )and a-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) in kidneys at three time points mentioned above, respectively. Results Compared with controlgroup, 24 h urinary protein in model group lost increasingly and significantly difference appeared at three time points relative to controlgroup ( P ＜ 0.01 ). Urinary NAG in model group was markedly higher than that in control group from 7 w after onset (P ＜ 0.01 ) andwas increasingly raised at 12 w and 17 w (P＜0.01). The value of blood BUN and Cr in model group increased at 7 w (P＞0.05) rel-ative to control group. There was significant difference at 12 w and 17.w (P ＜ 0.01 ). Histologically, kidneys in model group, at 7 w,exhibited tubular casts and gently tubular dilation, granuloma in cortex, mononuclear cells infiltration in tubulointerstitial areas, andmild interstitial fibrosis. At 12 w, the degree of tubular injury and tubulointerstitial fibrosis gradually aggravated. Up to 17 w, diffusetubular dilation or atrophy was observed and focal tubules disappear. Diffuse interstitial fibrosis was exhibited. In normal kidneys, im-munohistochemistry suggested that the light expression of BMP-7 was detected in proximal renal tubular epithelial cells and marked ex-pression was identified in distal tubule, collecting duct, and renal tubular epithelial in junction area between cortex and medulla. How-ever, the expression of BMP-7 in kidneys of model group significantly decreased with increasing tubulointerstitial fibrosis and was nega-tive correlation with the expression of TGF-β1(r = -0. 981 P＜0.01) and α-SMA (r= -0.975 P＜0.01). Bailing capsule ad-ministration protected the expression of BMP-7 and reduced TGF-β1 and α-SMA expression before 12 w(P＜ 0.01 ). Conclusions Ourstudy shows an anti-fibrotic reno-protective function of Bailing capsule in rats with tubulointerstitial fibrosis via prevention of epithelial-mesenchymal transition at early stage. However, the beneficial effect lost with increasing tubulointerstitial fibrosis.

Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of mycophenolate mofetil(MMF)on children with steroid-dependent nephrotic syndrome(SDNS).Methods Sixteen children with SDNS,diagnosed at onset,included 12 males and 4 females,aged(5.0?1.6) years,were administrated with MMF[25 mg/(kg?d)] and low-dose prednisone[0.5-1.0 mg/(kg?d),average 0.67 mg/(kg?d)].MMF was reduced to half of initial dosage after 6 months and maintained for 3 months,while dosage of prednisone was tapered gradually based on patients disease profile.Twenty-four hours urinary protein excretion,serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen,liver function were conducted regularly,respectively.The clinical efficacy and safety were assessed after 3 months treatment.Results Thirteen of 16 patients treated with MMF and prednisone remained in complete remission.Three children remained remission partly.Difference markedly was observed in 24 hours urinary protein excretion and serum albumin before and after treatment.Conclusions MMF is an effective and safe immunosuppressive agent for children with SDNS.

Objective To study the effects of rehabilitation(RT)on cardiac function in cerebral infarct (CIF)patients with cardiac insufficiency(CIS).Methods Fifty-nine CIF patients with CIS were randomly divid- ed into a treatment group(T group,n=29)and a control group(n=30),and all patients were treated with routine pharmacotherapy for 2 months.In addition,RT was administrated in the T group at the same time.The grading of the New York Heart Association(NYHA)and the changes in cardiac function associated index were observed in both groups before and after treatment.Results Compared with the control group,NYHA grades,left ventricle ejection fraction(LVEF),the levels of brain natriuretic peptide(BNP)in the blood plasma,and the 6min walking range of the T group patients were all significantly improved after treatment(P＜0.05).Conclusion RT can improve car- diac function in CIF patients with CIS.

Objective To analyze the clinical speciality of invasive fungal infection(IFI)and provide doctors with clinical evidence for early anti-fungal therapy.Method One hundred and thirty-seven patients with 91 male and 46 female,who suffered from invasive fungal infection in ICU from January.1,2000 to June 30, 2006,were enrolled in this study.The age ranged from 17 to 82 years old.Out of 137 patients with IFI,the percentage of albicans candida,glabirate candida,tropicalis candida and parapsilosis candida were 47.4%, 26.3%,20.4% and 3.6%,reseparately.The sputum,urine,blood and other drainages were collected to perform the fungal examination after three days of admission every three days.Results Of 137 patients,42 of them were complicated with hemorrhage,53 patients with IFI developed candida anthema in the chest,abdomen and extremity.,49 patients suffering from IFI had organ dysfunction.The chest image revealed that infiltration caused by IFI especially occurred in apex of lung in some patients.The pathogen analysis displayed that albicans candidiasis easily developed candida anthema,glabirate candidiasis frequently resulted in organ dysfunction,and tropicalis candida led to hemorrhage in some organs.Conclusions The clinical specialty,of IFI caused by candida included hemorrhage,candida anthema,organ dysfunction,and infiltration in apex of lung.

The development of the theory of lower He-sea points is analyzed, and the indication law of acupoints as well as its significance on understanding of meridians are discussed in this article. It is concluded that the application experiences of Zusanli (ST 36) has great significance to the recognition of major points for diseases of fu organs. However, it is held that the relationship between the major indications of Xiajuxu (ST 39) and the relation between Weiyang (BL 39) and Sanjiao are not the complete embodiment of application experiences. There is a precedence relationship between the formation consequence of the five-shu points and the lower He-sea points, which concerning the formation of the concept that He-sea points can treat diseases of their corresponding fu organs and the incomplete theory of the lower He-sea points. The formation of the theory of lower He-sea points also indicates the change of recognition of the relation between yang meridians and internal organs. Therefore, it is held that the relation between meridians and internal organs as well as the indication law of acupoints can be studied on the base of the above theory.

In the present paper the authors explore the differences in both theoretical and clinical significance between centripetal mode and cyclical mode which are the two modes of channel theories presented successively, from the following factors: (1) The centripetal mode focus on the regularity in the distant effects of acupoints on four limbs and embodies the primary meaning of hand-foot meridians, the cyclical mode explains qi-blood circulation mode and reflects the TCM knowledge of the principle of the coordination from structure and function of the whole body; (2) Most formation of channels and acupoints is based on the centripetal mode in stead of the cyclical mode; (3) The key reasons resulted in the major academic mistake in current research on channel knowledge are unknown or confusion of the different channel mode, under illusion about the cyclical mode is the subject or representative of channel theory and explaining or research on channels and acupoints within the framework of the cyclical mode of channels theory.

The method of four seasons acupuncture was initially recorded in the Internal Classic. It has the important meaning for understanding the contents of acupoints, especially the Five Shu Points. Its original meaning is that the place of acupuncture is difference on each season in order to cooperate with the both qi from the depth of acupuncture and four seasons. Through the interpretation from different aspects, the depth of qi is mainly considered as layer location and further considered as acupoints, and then gradually formed the principle of using the Five Shu Points. Following this way, we could correctly understand the contents of the Five Shu Points.

Recombination plasmid pMM085 possessed both immunogens heat-labile enterotoxin(LT) and fimbriae antigen K88 of enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC). Althouth vaccine strain MM-3 carrying pMM085 had good effect to protect piglets against diarrhea due to ETEC infections,it was not ideal live vaccine for pMM085 bringing chloramphenicol resistance gene (cat). To solve the problem,the host-plasmid balanced lethal system was introduced which including the replacement of cat gene by asd gene and transformation the new plasmid to the strain X6097 which asd gene was knocked out in its chromosome. Considering pMM085 was a big plasmid (23kb) and traditional genetic manipulations was not easy to carry on,?-Red recombination system was adopt in this work to realize the replacement of cat gene by asd gene. The results indicated that ?-Red recombination system was convenient and efficient to reconstruct big plasmid.

The six points on the foot yang channels with the main indications of disorders of six fu organs are named as he points in ancient time, while as Xiahe points in modern times. Both of the names share the Chinese character of He, which confounded with He (sea) point of the five shu points. The related ancient literatures, modern compiled textbooks and dictionaries are studied, and the original meaning and paraphrase of the name are analyzed so as to make clear the concept of the so-called Xiahe points and standardized its name. And it is held that the terminology of Xiahe points is inappropriate with the definition unclear and the concept indistinct. In the Internal classic, Xiahe points is also named as he points following the He (sea) points of the five shu points, and there was no proper name for the points at that time. The meaning of "he" in Xiahe points are different from the meaning of "He" in He (sea) points. And the article proposes that Xiahe points should be replaced as Liu fu Xiashu (lower shu points of six fu organs) or redefined with other names.
