This article introduces the mechanisms and clinical implications of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for the treatment of malignant tumor, and discusses the efficacy,limitations, and prospects of this technology. Dispite the recent advances, the clinical application of HIFU is still limited. Multiple trials are currently underway worldwide to determine its efficacy.

Pharmacogenomics does not only bring the connection of genes,medicines and diseases,but also become a powerful tool for clinical pharmacists.Pharmacogenomics is commonly used in clinical practice,especially in the implementation of genetic-test results for guiding rational use of medicines.The genotyping results of genes can provide good individualized medication guidance for patients,which can be confirmed by clinical use of the clopidogrel and warfarin.As a member of the clinical treatment team,clinical pharmacists should take advantage of pharmaceutical and pharmacogenomics information to promote rational use of medicines.

Objective To investigate the mycoplasma pneumoniae(MP) infection of the respiratory tract infection in children,the macrolide-resistant situation and resistance mechanism of MP. Methods The cultured throat swab specimens were obtained from 80 pediatric outpatients with respiratory tract infection from Dec.2008 to Mar.2009 in Beijing friendship hospital.The 23S rRNA gene of throat swab specimens and positive-cultured specimens were amplified using nested-PCR,and the products were further verified by electrophoresis and DNA sepuencing,which were collected from the outpatients.The specimens were divided into 2 groups depending on the findings of the gene sequencing whether they had gene mutation:sensitive and resistance group.The DNA sequence of samples were compared to the sequence of MP reference strain in genbank in order to findout MP drug resistant gene.The differences in macrolids therapy were investigated between 2 groups before the throat swab obtained.The drug resistance rates were compared between outpatients and inpatients. Results Thirty-two throat swab specimens were proved to be MP by direct nested-PCR,and 8 throat speeimens were proved to be MP by isolation and culrures.Total 33 cases(including 1 was positive-culture but nagative-direct PCR) were proved to be MP positive.Sixteen were identical to the M129 standard sequence,and 17 had point mutation in gene of 23S rRNA V region.Ten had A to G mutation at position 2063,3 had A to G mutation at position 2064,2 had A to G mutation at position 2067,1 had G to A mutation at position 2062,1 had A to T mutation at position 2063.There was no significant difference between the sensitive and resistance group in whether had macrolids before the throat swab obtained(P =0.909).And there was no significant difference in MP drug resistance rate between outpatients and inpatients(P =0.459). Conclusions The major mutation were A2063G and A2064G,and A2063T,A2067G,G2062A were newly found mutation points which were possibly related to macrolids resistance.

Objective To investigate the relationship between CRP and CK-MB among acute and stable patients with COPD in Nanjing city. Methods Using case-control design, 81 COPD patients and 71 normal controls were selected. Both fasting venous and arterial blood samples were collected for COPD patients at the acute and the stable stage separately, while fasting venous blood samples were collected for controls during medical examination. The concentrations of CRP, CK-MB or PaO2 of all blood samples were examined. Results The concentration of CRP and CK-MB were significantly higher among stable COPD patients (7.18?5.62, 10.92?5.33; respectively) than those among controls(3.00?0.91, 3.11?1.46; respectively), while acute patients (51.22?24.53,30.06?16.68; respectively) got much higher concentration of CRP and CK-MB than stable patients did. However, PaO2 was significantly higher among stable COPD patients than that among acute patients. For acute COPD patients, the concentration of CK-MB positively correlated with CRP, while PaO2 negatively correlated with CRP and CK-MB separately. Conclusions CRP and CK-MB were sensitive predictors of COPD status to the transition from stable to acute stage of COPD, and both negatively correlated with PaO2 among these sample COPD patients.

Objective To detect the expression and activation level of nuclear factor ?B (NF-?B) in synovium of rheumatoid arthritis (RA).Method Forty-six specimens including 17 RA, 24 osteoarthritis (OA) and 5 normal synovial tissues were subjected to RT-PCR to determine the mRNA level of NF-?B p65,p50,inhibitor of NF-?B (I?B),interleukin-1? Objective To investigate the diagnostic significance of combined detection of neuron specific enolase (NSE ) , cytokeratin 19 fragment(CYFRA21-1) ,carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA) ,carbohydrate antigen 125(CA125) ,carbohydrate antigen 19-9(CA19-9) and serum ferritin(SF) in non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC) .Methods NSE ,CYFRA21-1 ,CEA ,CA125 ,CA19-9 and SF were detected by chemiluminescent immunoassay in 52 patients with NSCLC(NSCLC group) ,35 patients with benign lung diseases(benign lung diseases group) and 44 healthy controls(control group) .Results These serum tumor markers in NSCLC group were significantly higher than those in benign lung diseases group and control group(P<0 .01) .Serum level of CEA was ob-viously higher ,while CYFRA21-1 was lower in patients with adenocarcinoma than those in patients with squamous carcinoma(P<0 .05) .The sensitivity(96 .2% ) ,specificity(87 .3% ) and accuracy(90 .8% ) of combined detection of these tumor markers preceded any single ones .Conclusion The combined detection of NSE ,CYFRA21-1 ,CEA ,CA125 ,CA19-9 and SF can improve the diagnos-tic sensitivity and accuracy of NSCLC ,which could provide higher clinical value in the diagnosis of NSCLC .

Objective To study the effects of Nerve Regeneration Factor on the neurite growth and Neurofilament-H expression of rat dorsal root ganglions in vitro. Methods DRG was cultured and treated with NRF,observation made by fluorescent immunocytochemistry and the mRNA and protein level of NF-H of DRG neurons was detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative RT-PCR and Western blot. Results NRF can promote the neurite growth of DRGs in vitro.The mRNA and protein levels of NF-H of DRG neurons can be up-regulated by NRF in a dose-dependent manner,with the best concentration of 2.0?(mg/L.) Conclusion\ NRF can promote the neurite growth of DRGs in vitro.NRF exerts a neurotrophic action on developmental sensory neurons.
