OBJECTIVE:To investigate the relationship between therapeutic effects of N-acetylcysteine(NAC) on animals with fulminant hepatic failure and contents of plasma amino-acids METHODS:Plasma amino-acids were analysed as their precolumn derivatives with O-phthol-dialdehyde by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatographic separation and fluorescence detection RESULTS:NAC could decrease the contents of plasma amino-acids,increase the ratio of BCAA/AAA and decrease the mortality of fulminant hepatic failure animals CONCLUSION:Therapeutic effects of NAC on animals with fulminant hepatic failure were related to its effect on the contents of plasma amino-acids
2.Therapeutic Effect of Arbutin Combined with Glycyrrhizin on Immune-inflammation

Objective To study the therapeutic effect of arbutin combined with glycyrrhizin on immune-inflammation. Methods The effect of arbutin combined with glycyrrhizin on adjuvant arthritis and on oxzolone induced mice ear swelling were investigated. PGE2 level in inflammatory tissue and LTB4 content from peritoneal macrophage of rat treated with arbutin and glycyrrhizin were determined. Results Arbutin combined with glycyrrhizin could inhibit Freund's complete adjuvant induced rat primary and secondary foot swelling. The combined group could also inhibit oxazolone induced mice ear swelling and decrease CD4+ T cell in blood. Compared with control group,PGE2 level in combined group was remarkable lower,and there was no difference between combined group and GL 400 mg/kg group. Arbutin combined with glycyrrhizin could inhibit LTB4 release from rat peritoneal macrophage. Conclusion Arbutin and glycyrrhizin has synergetic therapeutic effect on immune-inflammation.
3.Evaluation of spiral CT in staging of gastric carcinoma and preoperative assessment according to the classification of Lauren

Objective To investigate the role of the classification of Lauren in staging of gastric carcinoma and preoperative assessment using spiral CT. Methods Forty eight patients, 32 men and 16 women, who were 24~78 years old, with histologically and endoscopically proven gastric carcinoma, underwent spiral CT scans in prone position, with drug induced hypotonia and water filling. To induce gastric wall hypotonia and to maintain it during the entire examination, 10~15 mg of 654 2 was administered iv before basal scanning. All patinets underwent 2D, 3D and axial imaging using spiral CT, and 46 patients underwent dual phase contrast within one breathhold each. All patients with gastric carcinoma underwent staging and preoperative assessment by two radiologists according to the classification of Lauren. Results Spiral CT correctly detected all tumours. In our series, gastric carcinoma was of the diffuse type in 33 cases, of intestinal type in 15 cases; first stage in 2 cases, second stage in 18 cases, third stage in 15 cases and forth stage in 13 cases. There were 40 patients being performed operation, gastrectomy was performed in 33 patients and laparotomy was performed in 7 patients. The staging and preoperative assessment accuracy was 85.4% and 95.0% respectively, overstaging was 10.4%, and understaging was 4.2% according to the classification of Lauren. Correct rate of spiral CT detected lymph nodes (N1,N2) was 74.1% and 82.7% respectively. There are about 18 patienes whose arteries were invaded by tumors. With dual phase contrast, spiral CT can get well in detecting tumour, especially in staging gastric carcinoma in artery phase. Conclusions The classification of Lauren is recommended for staging of gastric carcinoma and preoperative assessment using spiral CT.
4.Effects of teratocarcinoma-derived growth factor-1 on invasion of human pancreatic cancer cell line PANC1

Objective To investigate the effects of the silence of teratocarcinoma-derived growth factor-1 ( TDGF-1 ) gene on invasion of human pancreatic cancer cell. Methods Three small interfering RNA (siRNA) targeting for TDGF-1 genes (S1, S2, S3 ) were designed and established, then the gene with the best silencing effects was screened. Human pancreatic cancer cell line PANC1 were transfected by siRNA with different concentrations (3. 125, 6.25, 12.5 nmoL/L), the cells without transfection, and simply treated with liposomes were controls. The expressions of mRNA and protein of TDGF-1 were determined by real time PCR and Western blot assay, respectively. The anchorage-independent growth was examined by clon formation in soft agar, and invasion ability was evaluated by boyden chamber model. PANC1 cells with transfection for 48h were injected into the nude mice to evaluate the invasion ability in vivo. Results The expressions of TDGF-1 mRNA and protein of cells transfected by siRNA were decreased in a dose-and time-dependent manner, which were significantly lower than those in liposomes group. Number of colony formation and transmembrane cell were 19.8 ± 2.2 and 49.8 + 2.6 in the control group, and 5.6 + 1.2 and 8. 1 + 1.1 in the 12.5 nmol/L transfection group. The volumes of tumor 4 weeks after transplation in the control group, liposomes group and the 12.5 nmol/L transfection group were (2.228 ± 0.016 ) cm3, ( 2.186 ± 0.028 )cm3 and ( 0.728 ± 0.023 )cm3. Conclusions TDGF-1 gene silence could inhibit invasion ability of human pancreatic cancer cell PANC1.
5.Colonic Cancer:The Comparative Study on Contrast-enhanced 64-slice Spiral CT Features and Pathologic Findings

Objective To evaluate the contrast-enhanced 64-slice spiral CT(64-SCT) features and pathologic findings of coloniccancer comparatively.Methods 56 cases of colonic cancer underwent 64-SCT dynamic enhancement scans.All cases were classifiedaccording to 64-SCT features of arterial phase and then analysed pre-operatively with pathological comparation.Results There werecharacteristic manifestations on arterial phase of contrast-enhanced CT scan in all cases,the tumors with well differentiation appeared as slight-medial homongeneous enhancement in 23 cases,while undifferentiation tumors appeared as obviously inhomogeneous enhancement or layer-like enhancement in 33 cases.The tumors were classified according to their features on contrast-enhanced CT,the accuracy rate was 91.07%,the accuracy rate evaluated pre-operation was 92.86%.Conclusion 64-SCT dynamic scan has distinctive superiority in diagnosis and treatment of the colonic tumor.
6.Occurrence and spreading dynamics and control methods of Southern blight in Houttuynia cordata

Objective To study the occurrence and spreading dynamics of Southern blight Houttuynia cordata and search for the control method so as to provide scientific basis for its integrated pets management (IPM). Methods The field investigation and the combined methods in both field trial and laboratory test were carried out for the research. Results After treated by Carbendaxim, the morbidity of Southern blight in H. cordata was the lowest and the yield of H. cordata reached to the highest level among all treatment groups. The PDA test revealed that Trichoderma huzirum had stronger antagonism to Southem blight in H. cordata than common fungicides. The best concentration of T. huzirum used in the soil treatment was 20 g/m2, which had a preventive effect against Southern blight up to 60.28%. Conclusion The Southern blight of H. cordata could be well suppressed while both Carbendaxim and T. huzirum are used to treat the seeds and soil, respectively.
7.The clinic application of CT-guided interstitial ~(125)I seeds implantation in curing lung cancer

Objective To introduce the procedures and evaluate the clinic value of CT-guided interstitial 125I seeds implantation in treating lung cancer. Methods Thirty-one cases patients with lung cancer underwent CT-guided interstitial 125I seeds implantation. All patients were scanned on multi-spiral CT (Philips, MX 8000) with optical navigating system (pinpoint), and treatment plan system, needle, and 125I seeds (Chinese Academy of Science) were used. First of all, according to the size of tumor, TPS calculated the optimal quantity of seeds. Then, under the guidance of CT, 125I seeds were percutaneously implanted into the tumors for interstitial radiotherapy. CT follow-up examinations were performed 1, 2, and 6 months after the therapy, respectively. According to the size of tumor, curative effects were graded as 4 grades: grade Ⅰ: obvious relief (OR) (the size of tumor reduced up to 50%), grade Ⅱ: relief (PR) (the size of tumor reduced by 25%-50%), grade Ⅲ: slight relief (SD) (the size of tumor reduced by 1%-25%), and grade Ⅳ: no effect (PD) (the size of tumor did not reduce or increase, and clinic symptoms showed no relief). Results At 1 month, 9 cases were classified as grade Ⅰ, 6 as grade Ⅱ, 13 as grade Ⅲ, and 3 as grade Ⅳ, respectively. At 2 months, 17 cases were grade Ⅰ, 8 grade Ⅱ, 3 grade Ⅲ, and 3 grade Ⅳ, respectively. At 6 months, 23 cases were grade Ⅰ, 3 grade Ⅱ, 2 grade Ⅲ, and 3 grade Ⅳ, respectively. Conclusion CT-guided interstitial 125I seeds implanted was a safe, reliable, and effective curative method for lung cancer.
8.The clinical application of 64-slices spiral CT in angiography of coronary artery

Objective To study the clin ic al application of 64-slices spiral CT in coronary artery. Methods Twenty-six patients were performed 64-slices spiral CT in coronary artery, 15 of the 26 patients underwent selective coronary artery angiography. Results The main branches and part of the sub-branches o f the coronary artery were clearly displayed. 38 coronary artery branches of 16 patients were found stenosis. In 15 cases with conventional angiography, all mai n branches and parts of sub-branches of coronary artery were displayed clearly. All patients demonstrated coronary artery stenosis. The diagnostic accuracy of 64-slices spiral CT was 94.12%. Conclusion As a minimall y invasive examination, 64-slices spiral CT is a valuable method to detect and diagnose the diseases of coronary artery.
9.Selenium dioxide induces leukemia cell apoptosis and changes of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and Ca~(2+) levels

AIM: The effects of selenium dioxide (SeO_2) on proliferation, apoptosis, intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and Ca~(2+) levels in three leukemia cell lines NB4, K562 and HL-60 were investigated. METHODS: Three leukemia cell lines were treated with 3-30 ?mol/L SeO_2. Flow cytometry was used to detect apoptosis rate, and analyze the changes of ROS and Ca~(2+) level within cells. RESULTS: SeO_2 at 10 and 30 ?mol/L inhibited proliferation in three leukemia cell lines. Treatment with 30 ?mol/L SeO_2 for 48 h induced 54.0%, 46.5%, 49.6% apoptosis in NB4, K562, and HL-60 cells, respectively, and also markedly decreased ROS and Ca~(2+) levels among three cell lines. The rate of ROS positive cells in NB4 and HL-60 decreased with the increase in SeO_2 concentrations. ROS was clearly reduced with 30 ?mol/L SeO_2 in K562. Ca~(2+) levels were tardily declined with 10, 30 ?mol/L SeO_2 in NB4 and HL-60 cells. Ca~(2+) levels were clearly reduced with 30 ?mol/L SeO_2 in K562. CONCLUSION: SeO_2 induces apoptosis in three leukemia cells. The declines of intracellular ROS and Ca~(2+) levels are involved in apoptosis induced by SeO_2.
10.The Application of Multi-slice CT in the Diagnosis and Treatment of the Colonic Tumor

Objective To improve the applied value of Multi-slice CT (MSCT) in the diagnosis and treatment of the colonic tumours.Methods MSCT axial images reconstruction 4-D,MIP and CT virtual colonoscopy (CTVC) in 30 patients with colonic tumours proved histologically were analysed and compared these results with that of barium enema and colon endoscopy.Results The diagnostic correctly rate in this group was 100% by MSCT,while the diagnostic rate by CTVE and colon endoscopy was basicly identical.Conclusion MSCT is recommended for the diagnosis and treatment of the colonic tumour.
